Chapter 395: Snow Empress Trapped
It was a creature resembling the western dragons seen in movies from previous lives, but now its tightly closed eyes and broken body clearly indicated that it had lost its life.
At this moment, Ning Bei couldn't help but recall the information about the Death God's Canyon. It was said to be a battlefield of some powerful ancient beings, and now, it seemed that this was indeed the case.
However, he couldn't figure out whether the dragon had been a mount or an opponent for those powerful beings. He approached the ice wall, touching it briefly. Suddenly, Ning Bei's heart stirred, and he activated his Eternal Freezing Domain to begin melting the surrounding ice.
Even the thick ice couldn't resist Ning Bei's domain. Within seconds, the dragon's body had emerged from the ice and began to shake. With a loud crash, the dragon hit the ice surface, revealing its true form.
"An Ice Dragon? Could this cave have been formed because of it?"
Ning Bei frowned as he circled around the dragon's body. But soon, he dismissed his thoughts. The unease in his heart was not due to this Ice Dragon; he was certain of that. There were other, even more terrifying beings hidden within this cave.
After tapping on the cold corpse in all directions, Ning Bei raised his brow. He had found a soul bone at the dragon's head.
"Is this just an appetizer? No matter what else comes, this trip hasn't been in vain."
He stored the soul bone and the dragon's body in his soul tool and continued his exploration toward the east, hoping to find more surprises.
But to his disappointment, after reaching the end of the ice cave, he was blocked by an ice wall. He could find nothing else of interest, so he reluctantly decided to return and see if the others had any findings.
When he returned to the cave entrance, Ice Empress was already waiting. Upon seeing Ning Bei, she spoke with a gloomy expression:
"Nothing on the west side, just ice walls and ice spikes."
"There is a dead Ice Dragon on my side, but it doesn't seem to be our goal."
"Ice Dragon?"
A curious expression appeared on the green-haired little girl's face. Ning Bei chuckled lightly and took the dragon's body from his soul tool, dropping it in front of her.
"Ugh, this dragon must have at least 500,000 years of cultivation. How strong must its opponent have been?"
"Hmm... I think this dragon was probably a mount for some powerful being. As for its opponent, it's very likely a god-level being."
"Wait, what?"
The little girl's face was filled with shock. Such a strong being was merely a mount? Wasn't one of the three great kings of the extreme north not even qualified to be a mount?
"It should not be the goal of our mission. Let's wait for Tian Meng and Snow Empress to return."
As soon as Ning Bei finished speaking, Tian Meng arrived, his fat silkworm quickly moving toward them from the north.
"Ning Bei, I found the corpse of an Ice Phoenix over there. Come quickly!"
"Tch, what's so special about that? Lord Ice God even found a dead Ice Dragon. Look here."
Ice Empress disdainfully pointed at the huge Ice Dragon beside her, which made Tian Meng realize there was now a massive creature in the vicinity.
"I see. You brought it back with you?"
"Mm, I thought, why not take it? A being of this level is a treasure for soul masters. My Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect also knows a little about forging."
"Alright, you're really milking it. But should we go check out the Ice Phoenix?"
Ning Bei shook his head. The Ice Phoenix wouldn't run away. Besides, that definitely wasn't their goal. They should wait for Snow Empress to come back.
Tian Meng immediately seemed disheartened. It was like a child showing off their favorite toy to an adult, only to be ignored, which made him feel upset.
Time passed, and the expressions of the three of them gradually became more serious.
"Why hasn't Snow Empress returned yet? Could there be some special treasure in the south?"
Ice Empress flicked her twin tails in frustration, clearly anxious, and Ning Bei frowned slightly.
"Let's go check. Knowing Snow Empress, even if she found something unusual, she would have come back to find us first. There might have been an unexpected situation. Let's go."
"Alright."
Upon hearing this, Tian Meng and Ice Empress both grew tense. Even though Snow Empress was in her soul form, she was not someone ordinary people could provoke. This meant that there was something extremely terrifying in this cave.
"Do you think I should return to the consciousness sea first?"
Tian Meng looked at Ning Bei with pleading eyes. If he didn't say no, the silkworm would probably burst into tears any second.
Ice Empress shot Tian Meng a disdainful glance, clearly thinking that he was useless.
Ning Bei didn't pay much attention to Tian Meng's cowardice. He nodded and sent him back to the consciousness sea. After all, he didn't expect much help from him when they faced any difficulties.
With only Ice Empress remaining, the two of them continued forward in silence, both worried about what had happened to Snow Empress.
After traveling several kilometers, the green-haired little girl's eyes lit up. She pointed ahead and happily called out.
"Snow Empress, why are you standing there?"
Upon running up to Snow Empress, Ice Empress was shocked and covered her mouth in disbelief, then turned to look at Ning Bei.
"Ice God, you need to come see this..."
Without needing any more words from Ice Empress, Ning Bei immediately understood what had happened when he saw Snow Empress. She had turned into an ice sculpture, standing still.
If it was just an ice sculpture, it wouldn't be that unusual. After all, Qian Renxue had often turned into an ice sculpture before. But if the Ice God, the master of ice, was frozen, then it was extremely terrifying.
What made it even more horrifying was that Snow Empress was currently in a soul form. This meant that her soul had been directly frozen. This was something Ning Bei himself couldn't do.
"Ice God, please release Snow Empress."
Upon hearing Ice Empress's pleading voice, Ning Bei nodded and walked up to the ice sculpture. He gently brushed his hand over Snow Empress's face, which had been frozen due to shock, and activated his Reverse Eternal Freezing Domain, trying to melt the ice. But after several dozen seconds, something surprising happened—his Eternal Freezing Domain couldn't melt the ice on Snow Empress's soul.
"Ice God?"
Ice Empress tentatively called out, and Ning Bei turned to shake his head.
"The enemy's mastery of ice elements surpasses mine."
"What?"
Ice Empress's mouth dropped open in shock, as though someone was playing with a giant sword in front of Guan Yu, and Guan Yu was saying, "I'm not as good as this person."
"What... who is it?"
Ning Bei didn't respond to Ice Empress. His gaze was sharp as he scanned the surroundings. Finally, he noticed something unusual not far ahead.
"There's something glowing over there?"
"Really? Let's go check it out and see if it's related to Snow Empress's condition."
Seeing Ice Empress immediately rushing toward the glowing spot, Ning Bei quickly grabbed her twin tails and lifted her up.
"Ice God, what are you doing?"
