The orcs didn't stop.
They pushed through the shadow assault, closing distance despite the constructs hitting their shields, despite the fighters at the edges of the formation going down. Orc warriors were built for exactly this — taking punishment and continuing forward.
Urgak's axe came around in a horizontal arc at head height, enough force behind it to take a horse's head off.
Vegeta ducked under it, smooth and unhurried, and materialized a shadow blade in his hand. The construct clashed against an orc warrior's sword — and held firm against the steel.
"Solid when I want it solid," Vegeta said pleasantly. "Incorporeal when I don't. That's the thing about shadow — it's cooperative."
He twisted his wrist and the blade reshaped into a whip that caught the orc's sword, yanked it free, and reformed into a spike that drove through the warrior's chest in the same motion.
The fighting became brutal.
