Nightingale Orphanage, Konoha.
It was a beautiful sunny day. The birds were chirping, the skies were clear and the warm heat of the sun during the winter was something that comforted everyone.
Instead of enjoying this comfort, Shiro, a four year old kid from the orphanage was standing below the maple tree and swinging a wooden sword.
The kids playing around seemed to not notice Shiro and continued their games with laughter and joy.
Some would occasionally look at the kid who was relentlessly singing his sword with technique and passion, and shake their heads.
On top of the orphanage, Kisuke Yamara, the owner of the establishment and Urako Shinki, a chunin who grew up in the orphanage were looking at the kid with rather complex emotions.
"Has he always been like this?" asked Shinki. He had returned to the orphanage a few days ago to check on things and he had seen the white-haired kid train every day now. This kind of training, which was not only repetitive but extremely dull was not something a four year old would do.
"Yes, This boy has always been a smart one. His father died after his mother was pregnant and his mother died after giving birth to him. He seemed to understand the importance of power very early on but two years ago, he found out about his mother."
"His mother?"
"Yes. His mother was a Uchiha but the man she married carried Senju blood. So she was expelled from the clan and the kid was left in the orphanage when she died. I don't know how he found out about this but ever since that day, he stopped playing with this friends and focused entirely on his study and his training."
There was a hint of sadness in Kisuke's voice as he explained Shiro's childhood. After all, he had raised the kid himself. Looking at Shiro train to his limits everyday when he wasn't even five always pained his heart. But he did not stop Shiro because of that. The world was a cruel place and Shiro was just an unfortunate soul who had been robbed of his childlike innocence by the cruel fate.
"Unfortunately the Kyubi attack a few months ago did nothing but fuel his persuit of power."
"H-H-He?" Suddenly Shinki and Kisuke both whipped their head towards Shiro's direction as they sensed something.
Shiro's was still swinging his sword but there was a noticeable increase in strength and speed in his sword swings.
As shinobis themselves, both Shinki and Kisuke noticed what happened immediately.
"He awakened his chakra?" Kisuke was speechless as he looked at the kid he had raised himself.
Both of them immediately used Body Flicker to reach Shiro.
"Old man?" Shiro was startled by the two and bowed his head towards Kisuke while looking at Shinki questionably.
"Shiro! My boy! Congratulations on awakening your chakra!" Kisuke's voice was heartfelt as he patted the kid's shoulders a few times.
He knew how much Shiro had struggled and how hard he had worked over the years. Seeing him awakening his chakra made him both proud and a little emotional.
Meanwhile Shiro was looking at the blue panel in front of him with burning intensity.
