Ahce's POV
He fought with deadly precision, every swing a blur of light and steel. I raised my rifle and fired, taking down one beast after another, but they kept coming, too many, too fast.
"Fall back!" he shouted, grabbing my reins as another creature lunged.
We galloped through the forest, the mutated wolves in pursuit, until he pulled me behind a fallen tree. My heart pounded, my hands trembling as I reloaded.
"Hybrids shouldn't exist anymore," I said, gasping. "They were wiped out years ago…"
Reichardt didn't answer. He looked at me, eyes dark and filled with something far deeper than fear. "Not all of them."
Before I could ask what he meant, one last beast lunged from the mist, and he shielded me with his body, sword plunging through its chest. The creature collapsed, leaving blood and silence in its wake.
For a long moment, neither of us moved.
His breath brushed my ear as he murmured, almost too quietly, "You shouldn't have come here, Ahce."
