Adrian's POV
Damien bit me. He had engraved himself on me, his mark, this night i was no longer Adrian, the fierce, cold ruler of my Duskbane clan. I had become his. Damien's mate.
He led me to his chamber
The air still carried the echo of my own breath, sharp, trembling, alive. I sat on the edge of his bed, the silk sheets cold against my skin, the scent of iron and smoke lingering faintly in the air. Behind me, the torn curtains fluttered in the midnight breeze, and the pale light of the moon spilled over the room like spilled silver.
I didn't have to turn around to know he was there.
I could feel him, the rhythm of his heartbeat matching mine, steady and haunting. The mark on my neck burned faintly, a golden crescent just beneath the skin, pulsing as though it had a life of its own.
His mark. His curse. His promise.
Every breath I took hurt. Every heartbeat throbbed with something I couldn't name, something terrifying and beautiful all at once.
