The courtyard behind the Hokage Building was unusually quiet that morning. Fallen leaves rustled in the breeze, and somewhere outside the stone walls, a group of academy students were finishing their morning drills. Naruto stood among them, holding his newly received ninja registration papers, unable to stop the wide grin stretching across his face.
The moment had finally arrived.
After years of stubborn effort, constant failures, and endless lectures from Iruka-sensei, he had officially become a ninja of Konohagakure.
Yet—before he could savor the moment—chaos began.
A small figure came charging toward him, tripping over his own long scarf and sprawling straight onto the ground with a loud thud.
Naruto blinked.
"Oi… what are you doing?"
The boy jumped back to his feet as if nothing had happened. "I don't care! I want to duel my grandfather! And if you lose to me—give me the Hokage title!"
Naruto's eye twitched.
Hokage title?! This brat is already after that?!
Even Hiruzen Sarutobi, who had been quietly observing, rubbed his forehead in resignation.
Naruto puffed up instantly. "The Hokage title belongs to me, Uzumaki Naruto! Where did this annoying brat come from?!"
Konohamaru's expression twisted with indignation. "What did you say?! Yaaaah!"
He charged straight at Naruto and swung a fist with all his might. Naruto didn't even bother dodging; he simply threw a lazy punch in return that landed on Konohamaru's forehead with a dull bonk.
The boy crashed to the ground again.
Ebisu-sensei, watching from the side like a horrified hawk, nearly shrieked. "You bastard! Do you realize what you've done?! That is the Hokage's grandson!"
Naruto crossed his arms defiantly. "I don't care who he is. If he tries to steal the Hokage title, he's my enemy! And he hit me first!"
Hiruzen calmly raised his hand. "Enough, Ebisu. Take Konohamaru and return."
Ebisu gritted his teeth but obeyed, helping Konohamaru to his feet. The boy rubbed the large bump swelling on his forehead, eyes watering—but strangely, he didn't cry. Instead, he stared at Naruto with an odd intensity.
"Your name… is Uzumaki Naruto?"
Naruto frowned. "Yeah? So what?"
Konohamaru suddenly dropped to his knees with a loud thud.
"From today on—Naruto-hyung! I'm your little brother!"
Naruto's jaw dropped. "Ha?!"
Even Hiruzen and Ebisu jerked in shock.
Konohamaru continued loudly, "I see it now! Naruto-hyung is strong! Much stronger than people say!"
Naruto's annoyance melted into pride within a heartbeat. He burst into a wide grin.
"Heh! So your name's Konohamaru, right? Your strength isn't great, but your vision is excellent!"
Konohamaru's eyes sparkled. "So you accept me?!"
"Of course! If anyone bullies you, just shout my name!"
"Thank you, Naruto-hyung!"
Hiruzen could only shake his head helplessly, and even Ebisu let out a defeated sigh.
Still — the small commotion ended peacefully, and Naruto soon stood before Hiruzen again to receive his official ninja headband. The metal plate gleamed in the sunlight, engraved with the symbol he had dreamed of since childhood.
As he tied it around his forehead, his movements slowed—almost reverent.
I'm finally… a real ninja.
He felt his heart pound with a mix of excitement and determination.
From here… becoming Hokage is no longer just a dream.
His mind raced with possibilities.
Would his first mission be to protect a princess from faraway lands? Escort a daimyo through dangerous territory? Or maybe he'd clash with ninjas from rival villages and carve a path of glory?
The fantasies carried him home, and even after midnight, he trained nonstop—strengthening his stance, rehearsing jutsu forms, and imagining himself as the greatest Hokage in history.
Sleep finally claimed him only when he collapsed onto his bed with his new headband still on.

The Next Morning — Team 7's First Assembly
At dawn, the training grounds of Konoha were wrapped in a cool mist. Naruto arrived at six-thirty sharp, bursting with energy. Hinata came a few minutes later, quiet but equally prepared. Sasuke followed shortly after, stoic as ever.
By seven-thirty… their Jōnin instructor had still not arrived.
Naruto stomped the ground in outrage. "Unbelievable! He told us to meet at seven! It's been thirty minutes! How can a Jōnin be this irresponsible?!"
Hinata flinched slightly. "M-Maybe Kakashi-sensei had something urgent, Naruto-kun…"
Before she could finish, a casual voice drifted over the training field.
"Yo."
Kakashi Hatake was half-crouched against a dirt wall, greeting them with a lazy hand wave and his visible eye curved into a crescent.
Naruto exploded. "'Yo'?! You're thirty minutes late for our very first team meeting!"
Kakashi scratched his head. "Am I? Sorry, I just… got lost on the road of life."
Naruto, Sasuke, and Hinata simultaneously collapsed in disbelief.
"What kind of excuse is that?!"
But Kakashi slid down the wall and stood before them without the slightest hint of guilt.
"Well, let's not dwell on that. Today marks the day you officially begin as genin. From now on, you'll accompany me on missions."
Naruto immediately forgot his anger, leaning forward with shining eyes. Hinata and Sasuke also focused, anticipating their first assignment.
Kakashi folded his arms. "Your first mission is—"
"The daimyo's wife?!" Naruto shouted. "We're escorting her, right?! And we'll fight enemy ninjas and protect her with our lives?!"
Kakashi paused. "What? No."
Naruto blinked. "Huh?"
"Our mission is to help the daimyo's wife find her missing cat."
He held up a picture of a very round, very spoiled-looking feline.
Naruto almost choked on his own breath. "Wh-what?! Being a ninja means… doing cat-finding missions?!"
Even Hinata and Sasuke, though quiet, couldn't hide their disappointment.
Kakashi shrugged. "You are still genin. All beginners start with D-rank missions. After you've accumulated enough experience or if you get promoted to chūnin, you can take higher-ranked missions."
Naruto was still fuming when a sudden voice echoed inside his mind.
"Congratulations, Host, on becoming a full-fledged genin. Within seven days, complete at least one hundred mission requests."
"Success will grant you a random system reward. Failure… will result in a Lightning Release baptism."
Naruto froze.
Lightning Release baptism?!
His heart almost stopped.
He looked up sharply. "Kakashi-sensei! Hinata! Sasuke!"
All three stared at him.
"Let's go! I want to finish one hundred missions in seven days!"
Kakashi blinked. "One hundred missions? Naruto… even if you were capable, I don't think I can take that many requests!"
Naruto clenched his fists. "I don't care! Team 7 is the strongest team!"
He pointed at his teammates dramatically. "Hinata! Sasuke! Do you want to lose to the other teams?!"
Hinata jumped slightly. "If Naruto-kun wants to complete them… I-I'll do my best to help!"
Sasuke scoffed but lifted his chin. "If a loser is willing to work that hard, I won't fall behind. We could finish two hundred at this rate."
Kakashi stared at the three in silence.
"…You're all insane."

Team 7 Begins Its Rampage
Naruto didn't want to go crazy.
But someone — or something — was forcing him.
Completing a hundred missions in seven days wasn't something he could achieve alone.
He needed the strength of the entire Team 7.
As a rookie genin, he couldn't even accept missions himself; only Kakashi could. And no matter how strong Naruto became, there were tasks he simply couldn't handle alone.
Hinata's Byakugan made cat-searching far easier than brute strength ever could. Sasuke's speed and precision were invaluable. And Kakashi—lazy or not—was essential for handling mission permissions and coordination.
So he confronted Kakashi again.
"Kakashi-sensei! What do you think about finishing one hundred missions in seven days?!"
Kakashi didn't even look up from his beloved adult book. "What do I think?"
"I'm thinking… about this book."
Naruto nearly screamed.
"I'm not talking about your stupid book! I'm talking about missions!"
His shout echoed across the training field, marking the true beginning of Team 7's wildest week.
