Chapter 203 - Big Fei and Little Fei

Realizing something was wrong, Sun Xuan quickly got out of the car.

But as he reached the door, several young men immediately blocked his path.

"Stay in the car and don't move!"

Sun Xuan frowned and pulled out his phone to call the police, but one of the youths snatched it away.

"Just behave yourselves! We're civilized people—don't make us resort to violence!"

Sun Xuan's face darkened.

Niu Zuojun had been so polite on the phone. Who knew they'd be so hostile once they arrived on his turf? He should never have come!

Inside the car, Jia Lu grew anxious. She glanced down at Brother Fei, who was on the phone, a worried expression on her face.

*We're in unfamiliar territory... What if something goes wrong?*

When Lin Chudong made his call, Niu Zuojun had been standing close behind him. If Lin Chudong had called the police, he would have acted immediately.

Lin Chudong held his phone, pulled a business card from his pocket, and dialed the number on it.

The last time Lin Chudong came to Jilin, he helped Li Hongbin's wife perform a *errenzhuan* at a small theater and met a big brother from the Northeast.

He stuffed over a hundred thousand yuan into the man's clothes, his generosity leaving a lasting impression. The man, Huang Yadong, president of Money Box KTV, told him to call anytime if he needed anything.

Lin Chudong had kept Huang Yadong's business card all this time, and now it was finally put to use.

Huang Yadong was no ordinary man. Anyone who could run a KTV chain in the Northeast was a major player.

When Lin Chudong called, a gruff voice answered after a moment. "Hello? Who is it?"

"Brother Huang, hello. It's Big Fei. Do you remember me?"

Huang Yadong's tone shifted to surprise. "Of course I remember, little brother Big Fei! You're on fire right now! Your song 'My Good Brothers' is number one on the request charts at all my KTVs! Haha! Are you in Jilin? I must treat you right!"

Back then, Big Fei wasn't yet a star, and Huang Yadong had been drunk that night, so he hadn't realized he was meeting a future celebrity.

Later, when Big Fei became famous, Huang Yadong took credit, boasting everywhere about their connection.

"See? Big Fei's song, 'My Good Brothers,' was written just for us."

Lin Chudong said, "Thanks, Brother Huang. I'm in a bit of trouble..."

Hearing this, Huang Yadong immediately flew into a rage.

"Holy shit, this is still going on? Give him the phone!"

Lin Chudong handed the phone to Niu Zuojun.

Niu Zuojun, with a dismissive look, took the phone and answered with an arrogant tone.

"Who is it? Spit it out."

Huang Yajun roared, "You little brat, you're acting pretty damn bold, huh? Give me your location, I'll come over and teach you a lesson."

Niu Zuojun sneered, "Fuck, Phoenix Cry Resort. Come on over, I'll fucking wait for you. If you don't show, you're a bitch!"

With that, he hung up.

Niu Zuojun had never met anyone so arrogant. He tossed the phone back to Lin Chudong.

"They're coming. Get in the car and wait. I want to see who this tough guy is."

Lin Chudong didn't say anything. He got into the car, glanced at the few hyped-up guys below, and said,

"Make sure you hold onto your stuff. If it gets damaged, you're responsible."

"Fuck, just get in your damn car!"

They all followed Brother Niu; who cared if you were a celebrity?

Once they were in the car, Sun Xuan asked in a low voice, his voice laced with worry, "Big Fei, what do we do?"

Lin Chudong replied, "Don't worry, I know someone who's coming to help."

Sun Xuan nodded. He hadn't expected trouble on the very first stop of the recording. He wondered if this would derail the whole project.

About half an hour later, a motorcade emerged from the highway exit and came roaring toward them.

A black Range Rover led the pack, followed by six Toyota Land Cruisers—seven vehicles in total.

The Range Rover's license plate, with its five eights, was impossible to miss.

When the cars stopped near the bus, Niu Zuojun frowned.

A subordinate beside him asked, "Brother Niu, whose car is this?"

Niu Zuojun pondered for a moment. "I don't know. Ask them quickly."

Huang Yajun stepped out of the Range Rover. Over thirty people spilled out of the seven vehicles, instantly surrounding them.

Huang Yajun, dressed in a black mink coat and leather gloves, glanced at the bus the moment he stepped out.

Lin Chudong came down the steps. "Brother Huang, thank you for your trouble."

Huang Yajun waved his hand. "No problem. Is everyone alright? No one hurt?"

"No."

At that moment, a subordinate stepped forward and snapped at Lin Chudong, "Who told you to get out of the car?"

Huang Yajun slapped him across the face.

*Smack!* The cold air turned the subordinate's cheek crimson, and he tumbled to the ground.

"You little bastard! Who do you think you are, talking back?"

"Put all that shit down now!"

Huang Yajun's imposing aura and the sheer number of men he brought with him immediately cowed the group. They dropped their burdens and looked to their leader, Niu Zuojun.

Niu Zuojun's expression flickered between anger and unease. A subordinate whispered in his ear, "Boss, I found out. The owner of the money box—it's Huang Yajun's car."

Niu Zuojun's face paled slightly, and he rubbed his hands together nervously.

Huang Yajun strode up to Niu Zuojun, removed his leather gloves, and appraised him from head to toe.

"You're Niu Taifu's son, aren't you?"

Niu Zuojun nodded. "Yes."

Huang Yajun used his glove to pat Niu Zuojun's cheek.

"Your father wouldn't dare speak to me like this. You think you're quite the hotshot?"

Cold sweat trickled down Niu Zuojun's temples, but he remained silent.

"Damn it, why did you bring so many people? Are you running a gang?"

"I'm calling the police to crack down on organized crime! I'll have you all arrested!"

"Why not just run your business properly instead of playing these stupid games?"

Huang Yajun kicked him.

"Talk!"

Niu Zuojun stumbled, quickly lowering his head. "Brother Huang, I was wrong."

Huang Yajun snapped, "Get lost! Disband these brats! If I see you again, don't blame me for being rude!"

Niu Zuojun nodded rapidly, told his subordinates to put down the items, and quickly withdrew.

Huang Yajun turned to Big Fei. "Sorry you had to see this, brother. These are just the dregs of the education system. I'll deal with them later."

Lin Chudong thanked him. "Brother Huang, I came here to..."

After a brief exchange, Huang Yajun slapped his chest. "I'll handle this. Niu Zuojun is useless. Come with me."

Huang Yajun drove them to a resort even more luxurious than Phoenix Cry Resort.

Sun Xuan whispered to Big Fei, "Do you have connections here too?"

Lin Chudong said, "It's a long story..."

Thanks to Huang Yajun's arrangements, their trip was much more comfortable.

That evening, Huang Yajun joined them for a meal, featuring an authentic Chagan Lake iron pot stewed fish.

Jia Lu's eyes lit up at the sight of the large fish. She quickly snapped photos for her social media feed before digging in.

Huang Yajun said, "It's great that you're here to promote our area. Brother Huang has to make sure you're properly taken care of. How about we go to my place later for some singing and arrange a fruit platter?"

Lin Chudong quickly declined, "No need, Brother Huang. We have an early shoot tomorrow and need to move on to another location afterward. Time is tight and the mission is urgent."

Huang Yajun looked disappointed. "Oh, that's a shame. Next time, then. I'll make it up to you."

Jia Lu swallowed a mouthful of fish and looked up with wide, innocent eyes. "What kind of fruit platter? I love fruit."

Huang Yajun chuckled. "We have lady's fruit platters too."

Jia Lu looked puzzled. "Are there separate fruit platters for men and women?"

Lin Chudong shifted awkwardly. "You don't need to concern yourself with the ways of the world."

The next day, filming went smoothly. Thanks to Huang Yajun's arrangements, the villagers were exceptionally cooperative.

With Lin Chudong and Qin Haifeng's professional guidance, the food in the shots looked utterly mouthwatering.

They finished filming in just one morning and immediately rushed to catch a flight to Chengdu.

Huang Yajun saw them all the way to the plane, providing full escort service.

"It's convenient having someone looking out for us," Sun Xuan remarked. "I wonder if we'll get this kind of treatment at our next stop."

"We will!" Jia Lu replied. "The Chengdu Tourism Bureau will be personally hosting us!"

Sun Xuan was taken aback. "Even Big Fei has connections with the Tourism Bureau?"

"Of course! When Brother Fei sang 'Chengdu,' the Tourism Bureau helped make that song a hit!"

Sun Xuan's jaw dropped. *Is that how it works?*

He had no idea how much that song had boosted Chengdu's tourism industry. Helping Big Fei film a show was a small matter for the bureau.

Sun Xuan felt a surge of gratitude. *Thank goodness I came with Big Fei. This trip might not have gone so smoothly otherwise.*

*I knew he was a lucky charm.*

Jia Lu grinned. "Brother Fei, we've been talking about going to Chengdu for ages. Now we're finally here! I wonder if they have fruit platters there?"

"Ahem..."

Lin Chudong nearly choked on his own saliva.

*This girl has become fixated on fruit platters.*

***

After landing in Chengdu, Liang Yin sent Lin Chudong the company's schedule for the week.

Yang Han had two performances and one variety show appearance, while Tian Yingxiong and his group had one performance.

Even Wang Xiaoyan had a performance, though her fee was only 50,000 yuan—still a significant starting point.

Her song "Love Trade" had brought her considerable fame. While few people recognized her on the street, the song's popularity was undeniable.

Lin Chudong was pleased with the results and planned to arrange another song for Wang Xiaoyan soon to capitalize on the momentum.

Meanwhile, Lin Chudong received his royalties from Kang Wenxue—over two million yuan in total for *Three-Body* and *Reset*.

Kang Wenxue urged him to start the sequel. The first installment's success, particularly after winning the Hugo Award, coupled with Big Fei's scathing criticism of the Aurora Award judges and the "Monkey King" song's direct attack on Zhou Shifang, had generated significant buzz for both works.

During his afternoon break, Lin Chudong rushed to write, determined to finish the second part of *Three-Body*.

Jia Lu lay in her room, scrolling through comments on her WeChat Moments.

A classmate named Yang Yan sent her a message:

"Hey Jia, you're traveling? How cool!"

**Jia Lu:** Business trip. Basically a paid vacation.

**Yang Yan:** I'm so jealous! You're really popular right now. So many guys around me say they like you. When did you start working with Big Fei?

**Jia Lu:** A long time ago. I was there when he founded the company.

**Yang Yan:** Whoa, so you're one of the company's founding members! What about Liang Yin? She's huge online too.

**Jia Lu:** Liang Yin is my boss. She's Big Fei's partner.

**Yang Yan:** What?! Liang Yin's already reached that level? She's a shareholder?

**Jia Lu:** Haven't you been paying attention? Our company is called Liang Yin Media.

**Yang Yan:** ...Envy, jealousy, and hatred.

Reading these comments from her classmates, Jia Lu's little vanity was satisfied.

When she gave up her job as an African drum teacher, most people didn't support her. She didn't even dare tell her family and friends.

Now that Big Fei was so popular, everyone was praising her for being so capable.

*Ding dong.*

Lin Chudong sent her a document.

"Xiao Jia, I just finished the second part of *The Three-Body Problem*. Proofread it for me."

Jia Lu quickly replied, "Okay, Brother Fei!"

Then, she sent Yang Yan a WeChat message.

"Gotta go. I'm reading *The Three-Body Problem*."

**Yang Yan:** You're just starting *The Three-Body Problem*? I finished it ages ago.

**Jia Lu:** I'm reading the second part.

**Yang Yan:** Huh? Didn't they only release the first part?

**Jia Lu:** Yeah, Brother Fei just finished writing the second part. Fresh off the press.

**Yang Yan:** ...So jealous.

While her own failures were terrifying, her friend's success was even more heart-wrenching.

After nearly ten days of arduous journey, the group finally returned home.

"Big Fei," Sun Xuan said, "we've got hundreds of hours of footage here. How much do you think we can use?"

Lin Chudong had left a team of photographers at each location. After capturing the key cooking details, they continued filming local customs, scenery, and other elements, then hurried to the next site.

Over the past few days, seven teams of photographers had been shooting simultaneously, working eight to ten hours a day. Now, with hundreds of hours of footage, the editing team was probably trembling in fear.

"It's hard to say," Lin Chudong replied. "We're planning for seven episodes, each focusing on a different theme. You can arrange it as you see fit."

"I'll have my editing team help out too. We'll work on it together."

Sun Xuan nodded. He and Lin Chudong had communicated extensively during the trip, and he understood Big Fei's vision well enough to be confident in achieving satisfactory results.

"Brother Sun, send me the edited footage when it's done. I'll be recording voiceovers in the Magic Capital. I'll send everything over once I'm finished."

"Alright."

At the airport, they parted ways.

Lin Chudong and Jia Lu returned to the company.

As soon as they entered the office, Liang Yin and the others froze, startled.

"Big Fei, you've lost weight. You must be exhausted from these past few days."

"Xiao Jia, you've gained weight. Eating well lately, huh?"

They went out together, so how did one get thinner and the other gain weight?

To be fair, Jia Lu looked quite pretty with a little extra weight.

Jia Lu blushed and said, "I've been eating a lot for the food show. I'll start dieting right away!"

Though Jia Lu was originally just a musician, after playing Zheng Ziyan, she was now a formal female artist and had to maintain her figure.

Wang Zhi stroked his chin, finding the situation suspicious.

*Brother Fei must have just gone through a breakup. He's been moping around and using work to distract himself, which is why he's lost so much weight.*

*Sigh, I'm the only one at the company who knows the truth. This feeling is awful.*

Lin Chudong sat in his office and sent Tian Yingxiong a WeChat message:

"How's the negotiation going?"

Negotiating now. They're asking for thirty million, I'm offering twenty, and Yan Hua's asking for ten.

You're worth more than Yan Hua? Then you're not cost-effective. I'll sign Yan Hua first. Whether you come or not is up to you. I can sing "Yoyoyoyoyoy

Tian Yingxiong: "No, no, no, let me talk to them again. Give me two days."

If Lin Chudong hadn't insisted that Tian Yingxiong had to earn back every penny spent on them, the scoundrel wouldn't have been so motivated.

The price probably wouldn't drop much further. Lin Chudong was satisfied with acquiring this powerhouse duo for thirty million.

Their future prospects were limitless, and the revenue they would generate would undoubtedly far exceed the initial investment.

After discussing it with Liang Yin, she gave him full discretion to handle the negotiations.

That evening, everyone gathered in front of the TV for another session of paid-for binge-watching.

Tonight marked the finale of *Bright Sword*, and its ratings were expected to end on a high note.

Moreover, as the series concluded on broadcast television, its popularity on SouTu Video should surge again.

While everyone waited for the drama to air, Liang Yin casually flipped through channels looking for news.

Suddenly, she landed on the children's channel and froze.

"What is this cartoon?"

Everyone immediately crowded around.

The title, *Big Fei and Little Fei*, appeared in the bottom left corner of the screen.

The art style was strikingly similar to *Big Dog and Second Dog*, suggesting they were produced by the same company.

Everyone burst into laughter. "Even cartoons are trying to ride Brother Fei's coattails now?"

A few minutes later, the laughter died.

This poorly made animated series was actually satirizing Big Fei.

In the cartoon, Big Fei and Little Fei were two foolish dogs, their simple-minded tone and vacant eyes highlighting their stupidity.

The setup itself wasn't the problem. The issue was that the cartoon's Big Fei was a singer in the animal kingdom. After being fired from a band, he and Little Fei formed their own duo. Instead of focusing on music, they dabbled in writing books and filming TV shows, doing everything *but* singing, and their absurd antics were meant to be comedic.

Liang Yin's expression darkened. "This is clearly a satire of Big Fei! Which company made this? We need to get it taken down!"

Professor Zhang nodded. "We can. This already borders on defamation. If we sue, they'll definitely have to take it down, though winning compensation is uncertain—it'll likely fizzle out."

"Because they've cleverly altered some details. For example, the cartoon's Big Fei and Little Fei form a duo, not a company, and other settings are slightly different from Big Fei's real-life identity."

"Suing them for defamation and insult might not succeed, but with Big Fei's influence, we can definitely demand they take it down."

Liang Yin crossed her arms, fuming.

"What kind of people are out there? Who would make an animation like this? Are they out of their minds?"

The animation was only three episodes long and crudely made, clearly showing no intention of being a long-term project. It was pure malice.

Lin Chudong said, "Find out which company made this animation."

Wang Zhi nodded and immediately went to the computer to investigate.

Soon, Wang Zhi returned.

"Brother Fei, I found it. Huangshan Art Company, the same team that made *Big Dog and Second Dog*."
