All the way, Thor just silently polished his Stormbreaker, saying nothing.
The destruction of his home and the tragic death of his brother made his personality even more sullen.
Star-Lord, on the other hand, was completely different.
He had also witnessed the deaths of his lover Gamora, his comrade Drax, Rocket Raccoon, and even his adoptive father Yondu.
But on the surface, he wasn't much different from before.
He had just become more talkative.
Even though Thor wasn't interested, Star-Lord rattled off everything he knew.
"Starhawk is actually a special being formed from the fusion of two people. One is called Aleta Ogord, and the other is Stakar Ogord. They're also step-siblings. It's said that when they went to explore a forbidden zone together, they received a special energy gift in that forbidden zone."
"This special energy can merge the two of them, becoming Starhawk."
"Starhawk can control explosive energy, create energy shields, and survive in outer space. He's incredibly powerful. And he's also extremely righteous; he'll definitely help us."
Star-Lord rambled on and on, actually using this to vent his frustration.
The deaths of his adoptive father, lover, and companions were like a string, heavily pressing on his heart, making it hard for him to breathe.
Thor had seen Star-Lord sitting silently, spacing out, more than once during their travels.
So, every time Star-Lord started talking endlessly, he would just glance up, then continue to listen quietly.
He felt like the two of them were the "Misery Avengers."
Both were deeply troubled.
After several days of flying and continuously traversing through several different interstellar passages, the Guardians of the Galaxy's ship finally arrived near the planet where the Starhawk Corps were stationed.
The Starhawk Corps' base was on a planet called Arcturus, a rather desolate world.
Long ago, this planet was a mining world, and its surface was riddled with large and small mine pits.
The planet had a few mine veins that could be exploited, but they were rather poor. Perhaps for this reason, they were not completely mined.
After all, for other civilizations, it wasn't cost-effective to mine such a small amount of minerals and then transport them.
However, for small-time scavengers, it was an excellent habitat.
The Starhawk Corps was stationed in one of the mine pits.
They had transformed the mine pit into a city to accommodate the families of the corps members.
Usually, they would also collect some residual minerals for their own use or for sale.
The entire Starhawk Corps possessed three space battleships, thousands of space fighters, and many extraordinary individuals recruited from various places, with tens of thousands of combat-ready soldiers.
In the past, few dared to covet this place, fearing the Starhawk Corps' reputation.
However, when Star-Lord and his two companions arrived, they found the entire area around Arcturus had become a cosmic graveyard.
Three destroyed space battleships were silently floating in the space near Arcturus. The battleships had many damaged areas, and the air had long since leaked out, their destruction quite thorough.
Near the space battleships, one could occasionally see many metal fragments rotating and flying, following the planet's gravity.
Some were captured by the gravity and fell into Arcturus, gradually lighting up in its thin atmosphere, becoming a falling meteor.
Star-Lord and Thor both came to the huge porthole, looking at this space graveyard filled with death and despair, their hearts almost chilled.
"Are these the Starhawk Corps' battleships?" Thor asked.
Star-Lord, usually a chatterbox, was suddenly speechless.
He turned and walked to the back door, then jumped out after opening the hatch.
Possessing the ancient Celestial gene, he could move around in space.
A dazzling light erupted from Star-Lord's feet as his body transformed into an arrow, flying toward the nearest spaceship.
Thor was silent for a moment and then sat back down.
Even though Star-Lord hadn't said anything, his actions spoke volumes.
He was probably thinking that Ego had anticipated their actions and struck first, wiping out the Starhawk Corps.
If that was the case, the other cosmic scavenger forces they were going to look for would probably have been attacked as well.
After all, the enemy couldn't have known they would go to the Starhawk Corps first.
And, judging from the scene, the battle had ended a long time ago.
The air in those space battleships had all leaked out.
Sure enough, it didn't take long for Star-Lord to return.
However, his expression was very gloomy when he came back.
"I, am, Groot~" The young Groot walked forward and reached out to touch Star-Lord's hand.
Star-Lord grabbed the young Groot's branch and squatted down, trembling, "Groot, Gamora... they're still alive?"
Gamora?
Thor raised his head and looked at Star-Lord in surprise.
He didn't know how many times he had heard this name from Star-Lord these days.
Every time Star-Lord mentioned this person, he was in tears, but also laughing.
However, he was pretty sure Star-Lord had said she was dead before.
Had he gone somewhere and been scared out of his mind?
"I am Groot?" Young Groot blinked.
Star-Lord nodded hard, took out a tape recorder, and pressed it.
Zzzt—
A current passed through.
The voice in the tape recorder rang out, a voice that had been specially processed, seemingly to prevent others from knowing his true identity: "Are you Peter Quill? Kid, do you want to save your friends? Go to Ego. But, it's best to bring your Earth friends, otherwise, I can't guarantee they'll still be alive."
Thor appeared beside Star-Lord at some point.
He reached out and took the recorder from Star-Lord, replaying the message.
He played it again.
Silence.
The message was too blunt, so blunt that the other party had practically written their purpose on their face.
He wanted the people on Earth to go to Ego's planet!
But why?
Was the person leaving the message Ego?
No, it shouldn't be.
However, at this moment, Star-Lord wasn't thinking that much.
He released the young Groot and went straight to the spaceship's cockpit, starting to operate the ship.
"What are you doing?" Thor said in a deep voice.
"I'm going to Ego's planet to save Gamora!" Star-Lord said firmly.
"Are you an idiot? The other side deliberately left this kind of information, obviously prepared. Are you going to go there just like that?" Thor asked back.
"Otherwise? Go find those so-called Earthlings? I can't wait! Gamora isn't dead, Rocket isn't dead, and Drax isn't dead!" Star-Lord slammed his hand on the driver's seat, excitedly roaring.
"Calm down and think about why the other side left this message!"
"I don't care!"
