Chapter 31 - 31St Tango: Family Ties

"So you have been neglecting your family to do hero duties and you're afraid they will be angry now that you can see them again?"

Kismet Base, Amadi was sitting before Impactor, who was lying face down on the beach.

"Come on, at least break an arm or something."

Impactor said while lifting his arm up for Amadi.

"You have some screw loose, you know that? And that's coming from me."

Amadi sighed.

"Well, I also have family members who can be scary when angered, even for me."

"Huh? You have people you fear?"

Impactor looked up at him.

"Doesn't everyone?"

Amadi answered with a smile. Nearby, Belinha and the other were watching them.

"Aren't these two basically acting like friends?"

Mira mumbled.

"Insane people tend to get along."

Belinha answered.

"Ah, that's right."

Impactor stood up after seemingly remembering something.

"I've been meaning to ask. Why is your family so colourful?"

"Colourful?"

Impactor nodded. Amadi thought about it for a bit.

"Are you talking about me being African and Koma being Asian?"

"Yeah. I looked into your family and found it odd."

Amadi's eyes slowly narrowed.

"Why did you find it odd?"

"I couldn't find that much about most of the members of your clan, but I know your grandfather is German. Including you, that's three members who are from different cultures. If it were any other family, I would say it's a coincidence..."

"But it's the infamous and all-important Albrecht Family."

Impactor nodded. Amadi stared at him for a while before showing a small smile.

"Asking why my family is progressive and doesn't care about race is quite crude and disrespectful in most cases, but since it seems you're genuinely curious, I'll let it slide."

"So?"

Amadi nodded.

"You're right, it wasn't a coincidence."

"Really?!"

Belinha, who was listening, made her way over to Amadi. The Albrecht Clan was a very secretive family despite their fame and achievements. No one knew the true size of the family or its members' identities, other than a handful. Even the Volcanic Emperor's identity wasn't that known despite being #3 in the Hero Rankings. The only two members known were its Leader and its Heir.

"What, you're interested too?"

Belinha nodded but quickly stopped after seeing Amadi's gaze on her.

"Looks like you remember who you're talking to."

She stepped back a bit.

"Well, don't be so dejected. I don't follow the conventional rules of Hero-Villain relations."

He smirked.

"I just do as I like. You guys should too."

He looked back at Impactor.

"I don't really mind spilling my clan's dark secrets, since it will piss certain people off."

A few hours later, Amadi was exiting a private jet. He wore a smile as he remembered his conversation with Kismet about his family.

"Since my grandfather's generation, the Albrecht Family has been practising Selective Breeding aka Eugenics."

Shock stained the faces of Kismet. Ignoring their shock, he pointed at himself.

"For example, I'm quarter German and Indonesian and half Nigerian. My Paternal grandmother hailed from a powerful Dayak Shaman lineage. As for my mother..."

He put his finger over his lips.

"That's classified."

Amadi laughed as he walked across the runway.

"Their reactions made my day."

His laughter grew louder.

"It's good to see you in a good mood, Amadi."

His body froze and his laugh was cut.

"I'm surprised you can be, after avoiding your family for the last few months."

Dressed in a blue blazer with a brown turtle neck underneath. They had a fit and lean body with well-defined legs wrapped in denim, dark but radiant skin that further enhanced the handsome yet androgynous beauty of their face, which donned a pair of shades, and black curly locks that rested above their shoulders.

"Hello, Amadi."

Their voice was sweet yet coated with venomous intent. As for Amadi—

"........"

He looked at them for a while before turning around and walking towards his jet. The person watched as he took out his phone and made a call.

"What can I do for you, Fürst?"

A voice came from his phone.

"Start the jet!"

Amadi started sprinting as he shouted into the phone.

"Start the jet now!"

"Y-Yes! When are you—"

"Don't wait for me! Just fly! I'll jump on!"

He started flying across the runway.

"Where are you going?"

The person appeared at his side, running beside him.

"Shit!"

Amadi stopped and blasted into the air.

"Seriously? Is all of this necessary?"

His eyes nearly fell out of his head when he saw that they were still following him.

"How did you catch up already?!"

"I jumped."

They grabbed at Amadi, but he turned into a lightning bolt to get away. He flew towards his jet that was in the middle of taking off. He returned to his human form and landed on the jet's nose. The pilots ashen when they saw him.

"Keep going! Don't stop no matter what!"

Amadi shouted. The pilots nodded the plane started to pick up speed.

"Seriously?"

"?!"

Amadi turned his head and the person was on the runway in the jet's path. They snapped their fingers and lightning fell on the jet. The noise from the engines ceased and the jet started to slow down. However, it still headed towards the person. They stomped the ground and the earth came alive. It covered the jet and stopped it in its tracks.

"It would've been better you used your powers to escape."

They approached the jet with calm steps.

"As if I can outrun you. I was hoping you wouldn't destroy one of our jets."

Amadi answered while cold sweat ran down his back.

"That's a lie. If you use your full power, there's no way I could catch you."

"True, but I'm not going to use Human Disaster and risk losing myself and hurting you."

They jumped and landed on the jet's nose and stood in front of Amadi.

"Well, aren't you considered. Cocky too if you think I'll die so easily."

Amadi let out a nervous laugh.

"Cocky? In front of the great Chinara the Relentless? Never."

A kick landed on his temple and blew him across the runway. He bounced off the asphalt a few times before getting to his feet. The person was already in front of him. Amadi's face reflected in their glasses.

"Sis, I know I have been ignoring you and Mummy, but I at least made sure you knew I was doing fine!"

"You mean those weekly shows of yours? So, the only time our mother can see you is when you're fighting?"

"....I would like to apologise for my actions."

Amadi's head was planted into the earth by Chinara's foot.

"Seriously..."

She picked him up by his leg and walked while dragging him on the asphalt.

Prague, Czech Republic. Amadi and Chinara were in the lounge at the Albrecht Private Airport. Chinara sat across from him with her legs crossed while leaning back in her luxurious armchair. Amadi held his head down, avoiding her gaze.

"Amadi."

His body flinched when she called his name. He slowly looked up and noticed her frown.

"You should stop making Mummy worry."

"It's not like I'm doing it on purpose..."

Amadi spoke with a low voice.

"I know, but that doesn't mean you aren't."

Amadi remained silent. Chinara sighed and removed her shades and put them beside her. Eyes resembling a cloudless sky locked on Amadi.

"When are you going to stop running away?"

Chinara uncrossed her legs and leaned forward.

"Distancing yourself from us isn't the way to go. I know you do it because you love us, but it hurts us. Both Mummy and I want to be a part of every aspect of your life."

"Being a part of the life of a madman isn't ideal."

"...Are your impulses getting worse?"

"Not anymore, not since I started fighting Kismet."

"Kismet...Those kids, huh."

A servant came and placed cups of coffee on a table in front of both of them before leaving.

"They make a good stress release exercise, those kids?"

"It's more than that. They're all more interesting than I originally thought."

Amadi's face lit up as he talked.

"Their abilities have so much potential, although they haven't realised it yet. If Hiraya and I push and guide them in the right way, then—"

"Then you two might get equals you can go all out against?"

Amadi nodded. Chinara shook her head and picked up her coffee.

"Oh, lord in heaven. Where has my sweet baby brother gone? Fighting, violence, bloodshed. That's all you talk about these days."

She gestured with her hand at her side.

"When you were this size, all you talked about was the animals you would raise on your farm. Rabbits, ducks, horses, and all kinds of animals that you can play with. Those were the days."

"Could you stop talking about that?"

Amadi frowned as she sipped her coffee. She lowered the cup from her lips and showed a bitter smile.

"Seriously, those days were blissful."

She spoke with a soft and longing tone. Amadi took his coffee and sipped it.

"That's in the past."

"The past, huh...."

Chinara stayed silent for a bit before her eyes became sharp.

"I should've killed that bastard Basuki before it got to this."

Amadi placed his cup back on the table.

"I don't know why you're getting riled up about ancient history."

"Because it's still affecting you to the point you can't stick around your family too long without worrying about having a psychotic break!"

Amadi said nothing and just looked at her. She took a deep breath.

"I'm sorry for shouting. No one is suffering from this more than you, even though you refuse to admit."

"I'm fine. I've already accepted that there's no saving me."

"Well, I haven't."

She stood up.

"If your little game with Kismet helps you keep your sanity, then I won't interfere. Burn off some stress."

"Thanks."

"However."

Amadi flinched. His face reflected in her blue eyes.

"I don't like the way you're fighting. You look so sloppy it hurts my eyes."

"I-I'm just fighting on their level."

"True, you're using basic martial arts, but even those look sloppy."

She approached him.

"Besides, you lost to that Impactor guy because you let your guard down? No, you lost because you've gotten soft."

She lifted her fist to his face.

"Tell me, Amadi. Are his punches heavier than mine?"

Amadi quickly shook his head.

"Not even close!"

"So why were they able to knock you out?!"

She picked him up by his head.

"Rejoice, Sinvula. As your master, I've decided to train you again, from scratch."

Amadi's face ashen.

"Alright, let's go."

Chinara threw him over her shoulder.

"Prepare a jet to the Antarctic. We don't need to land, we'll jump from the jet."

"Noooooo!"

"Yes, Prinzessin."

The servants ignored Amadi and went to carry out Chinara's instruction.

"The Mad Shaman, feared by all, is crying because his sister wants to spend quality time with him. How embarrassing."

Chinara shook her head as she carried him away.

"At least bring Cole and Jessica!"

"Oh, that's a good idea. We'll pick them up on the way."

"Yes! I'm not going to suffer alone!"

Amadi burst out laughing with a sinister grin.

"If I suffer, they will suffer with me!"

Chinara looked at him for a bit and shook her head.

"My sweet baby boy, now a sadistic bastard."

She sighed.

"I wonder who he gets it from."
