Davina's POV
The next morning arrived like every other, except I'd tossed and turned all night.
My thoughts had been spiraling, running through every conceivable outcome for today's second interview—or whatever this was supposed to be. I had no clue what to anticipate, which only amplified my anxiety.
Right now, though, I needed to tackle things one step at a time.
I nudged Cooper awake gently, sweeping his silky curls away from his face. My little ray of sunshine was still drooling onto his pillow, thumb tucked in his mouth. I couldn't help but smile, stroking his back until he began to stir.
"Morning, sweetheart," I murmured.
He peered up at me through drowsy eyes before looping his arms around my neck.
"You driving me to school today, Mama?" he mumbled into my shoulder.
"Absolutely, baby. Ready for it?" I grinned, pulling him closer.
Cooper stayed quiet, making me laugh softly.
My boy was shooting up so fast. In just a couple of months, he'd hit four years old.
