I had been waiting for this moment. Now that the path was clear, I rang the doorbell.
I had a feeling I was finally going to meet the man she had run away with, and I was prepared for it.
However, something had changed. I never thought she would have children. And I definitely never imagined I'd feel a connection with them too.
Ever since I left her home, I'd been wandering through the woods. I didn't even return to my own house. I switched off my phone and told Walkin to handle anyone who tried to contact me and come up with an excuse. I suffered through the night, waiting for the right moment to take the babies and see for myself if my assumption was right. And if it was, I'd lose my mind.
