Kash:
"When you said the other woman was not my mate, I took her away because you said you wanted my mate," I said. "I got confused. Why would I leave someone who was not part of the deal?"
I did not loosen my grip.
"So I came back to ask you again. Do you want my chosen mate or my fated mate?"
Her expression shifted, caught between anger and interest.
"In that confusion, I had to save her," I mumbled, lowering my voice.
I noticed her lower lip curl inward as she bit it, and her eyes dropped briefly to my lips. While I spoke, she kept studying my face, swallowing slowly at the sight of me.
I noticed her fingers moving up my chest, her grip tightening as she pulled herself up to the highest point she could reach so she could look straight into my eyes without lifting her head.
Her fingers twisted into the fabric at my chest, letting me know that she was still holding onto me.
