Chapter 16 - Author’s Note: Must read

Hey everyone👋🏻, I've seen quite a few questions and discussions lately about the direction of the story particularly regarding the pairing, the plot's familiarity with the original 100 storyline, and a few controversial character choices. So, I wanted to take a moment to address those directly🫴🏻.

First off, regarding the pairing: the story is and will remain centered around Jason x Raven. That's the dynamic I'm building toward and the relationship I'm most interested in exploring. This isn't meant to be a harem story, and I have no plans to turn it into one. Even if it ever heads slightly in that direction, it would only involve Raven and one other woman someone I'm still debating on choosing, but I'm keeping that under wraps for now to avoid spoiling the surprise🤫.

Now, about the story following the main 100 plotline. I completely understand some of the disappointment and frustration that's come from that. While many events may seem familiar right now, I assure you things are gradually shifting. The story is progressing toward major changes that will set it apart in tone, direction, and outcome.

On the subject of Charlotte yes, I know keeping her alive raised a few eyebrows, especially after she killed Wells. You're right to question that. Charlotte is guilty of that act, but her trauma runs deep. Watching her parents die by Jaha's hand completely broke her sense of right and wrong. Then, add Bellamy's early words which she misunderstood and you get a dangerous mix of grief and misinterpretation.

When Clarke mercy-killed Atom, Charlotte saw that as a kind of redemption, a way to "slay her demons." Unfortunately, in her mind, Wells became the embodiment of those demons a stand-in for his father.

So yes, keeping Charlotte alive may not make total sense right now, but it's intentional. I have plans for her role in the future that will tie back to these early decisions in a way that will make the choice worthwhile.

And finally Murphy. I've seen the comments about him too. Yes, he was a problem, and yes, I could have had him come to terms with the group and stay. But that would've killed what makes Murphy Murphy. He's unpredictable, stubborn, and a survivor. A cockroach who always finds a way to outlive the chaos around him. His banishment isn't the end of him.

So to everyone following the story, thank you for your patience and trust.
