Chapter 43 - Cure.

Inspecting myself more, I found that my wings were gone. Instead, they were now tentacles that I could control at will.

My hands had also changed; they could now shift into any shape I could think of. But enough of that—I needed to find Sera and stop her from waging war with Hell.

Leaving the room, I noticed it was quite dark out, but that was good. With this form I was currently in, I could probably sneak past the angels without alerting anyone.

Moving out, I looked for any angel that might alert the others. After making sure that there wasn't anyone, I took a quick glance outside a window to see if there was anything I could climb to get a better view.

I quickly took notice of a rather tall bell tower. Looks like that's where I'm going. Looking around my surroundings, I made sure no one could spot me, and once I had made sure of that, I climbed out the window and began flying toward the bell tower.

It was weird—I could still fly without my wings. Maybe it's because of the tentacles that replaced them.

As I flew closer, I saw three angels with spears on top of the bell tower. Flying low, I avoided their gaze and landed on the side of the tower.

Using my hands, I planted them inside the walls of the tower and slowly began climbing the side of it in order to avoid being caught.

Once I was close enough to the edge, I poked my head up to take a quick look at them. They all wore black masks covering their entire faces, so I couldn't see if they were affected by my power.

But I couldn't really take that chance. Moving up, I slowly approached them from behind and began extending my hand into a long pole-like weapon, and with one quick motion, I struck them all at the back of their heads, knocking them out.

I began to drag them inside the bell tower using a latch on the top to get in. Once I got everyone inside, I used my arm to tie them up and hold them in place.

Removing their masks, I needed to get a better look at their faces to see if they were also affected. Looking at them more carefully, I noticed they all either had a light or gray skin tone, but I couldn't quite see the glow in their eyes since they were unconscious.

Now, I wasn't quite sure they wouldn't immediately scream the moment they woke up, but I needed to know if they were affected and if I could cure them.

So, taking a risk, I woke them all up, and slowly they began to stir from their slumber. One by one, I could see their eyes glow.

Once they were all fully awake, they all began to stare at me.

"Hello?" I asked the three angel girls.

Their eyes widened before they all began to squeal in joy.

"Did you see that? God spoke with us!"

"His voice is so beautiful—it's like listening to... to, I don't know, something beautiful!"

"He's even holding us. How... kinky."

I simply stared at the last angel before thinking of what to do with them. Then an idea came to mind—I could probably get some useful information from them.

"Where is Sera?" I asked the angels.

They simply stared at me before speaking.

"The head seraphim is amassing a force strong enough to purge all of Hell. She's currently headed toward the gates of Heaven with said forces as we speak," the angel told me.

This is bad. I need to get over there before Sera gets to the gates and turns Hell into more of a wasteland than it already is.

But there was another problem—I still didn't know how to cure them from their insanity. The only person who could possibly cure this is...

Me.

The Radiance spoke from within my mind, and from her tone, she seemed to be enjoying this.

If you want the cure, you'll need to do something for me.

And what would that be?

Oh, nothing. I simply want something in return in the future.

...Fine. But it better not be anything weird.

Hehe, of course. Now place your tentacles on their foreheads.

Listening to her instructions, I turned my arm into three tentacles and slowly placed them on the angels' foreheads. Once I had done that, I felt an energy course through me and into my appendages.

It flowed through me and into the angels, and with a brilliant flash, the room was engulfed in light.

Once the light had disappeared, I took a look at the angels—and they looked... confused. The orange glow in their eyes had completely disappeared, and they were now just confused.

"Where are we? What have you done with us?!" they said, screaming at me.

But as they screamed, something I couldn't see seemed to stop them, and instead, they all began to bow and cower before me.

"We're so sorry! Please forgive us! We didn't know an angel of God was here! Please forgive us!"

Well, at least they're cured. Turning away from them, I began looking for the gates of Heaven to stop Sera in her senseless crusade.

Once I finally found the gates, I saw the army that Sera had amassed—and it was huge.

Not wanting to lose more time, I got out onto the top of the bell tower, and once I was there, I had a clear path toward the gate and to cure everyone.

I took a deep breath and readied myself, and without a second to waste, I flew straight at the gates of Heaven and hoped that I could reach her in time.
