Chapter 19 - Double Shot Per Hit

It would not be quite hard to locate where Nina was, thanks to the system's information. However, it was not as if Ethan knew exactly where the Physical Health Centre was located.

Ethan loved doing many things in New Land University, but hitting the gym was not part of them.

In fact, he had never even been there before, and that led to him not engaging in any sports activities.

However, when it came to special meetups for projects and experiments, he would not think twice before jumping into one.

Fortunately, to make things easier, one of them happened to know the exact location of the Physical Health Centre.

Eva.

"We go east. The same way leading to the stadium," she said.

Eva and Ethan led the way as the rest followed behind, all alert to every nook and corner.

One suspicious sound, and they would already be facing a possible threat at once.

Now that Ethan knew about the evolution of the zombies, he knew he had to be more careful than before.

A Level 4 zombie, as stated by the system, already possessed some human-like intellectual features, and being unprepared enough to face one might result in an unfixable disaster.

Although Ethan was not praying to see one at this point, at least not when he was with the others.

The last time they encountered an evolved zombie, Dane was bitten, and it did not end as expected.

Ethan would not allow that to happen again.

Fortunately for them, all the zombies they came across were Level 2 or Level 1, which showed that there was little to no stress along the way.

Everyone had begun to pick up expertise in using a knife, except for Anna, who did not even raise a hand.

She had only been shielding herself behind Ethan the whole time, and to Ethan, there was no problem with that.

It was better to protect her than to risk having her protect herself. For someone as weak as she was, it was no different from a death sentence.

Soon enough, they reached the Physical Health Centre, and Ethan urged them to settle in one corner to make a plan.

Rushing in without studying the area and structure was not the best thing to do, and in fact, it was already high time he clarified things about the weapons.

"Ethan?" Helen called, not hesitating at all.

"Yeah," Ethan said, understanding her, as he immediately entered the Store.

He already had what to purchase in mind, so there was no need to waste time.

He had come across a few rifles in the Store the last time he checked. There were many affordable ones, but that was not what impressed Ethan.

The interesting thing was that these weapons were exactly like the typical weapons available in society.

[Long-range (limited).]

— Shotguns & Handguns.

— Rifles.

— Tanks (Closed).

— AFVs (Closed).

— Warplanes & Munitions (Closed).

He went straight to the Rifle menu, where a large variety of rifles popped up in front of him along with their descriptions.

Somehow, he was the only one seeing it. The others could not even see the interface, much less the indications on it.

Ethan felt more relaxed when he realized this.

[Rifles.]

[Name: Ruger 10/22.]

[Cost: 85 BC.]

[Description: A lightweight, semi-automatic .22 LR rifle with confirmed reliability, low recoil, and high accuracy, featuring a detachable rotary magazine and widely used for training, small-game hunting, and target shooting.]

[Perk: Comes with a one-time shooting tutorial guide.]

Ethan observed the weapon for a moment and finally made a decision.

"No. It will not be helpful enough."

He moved to the next rifle immediately.

[Name: M16.]

[Cost: 120 BC.]

[Description: A lightweight, gas-operated assault rifle chambered in 5.56×45mm NATO. Long-barreled and reinforced, with high accuracy at medium to long ranges, low recoil, and compatibility with standard 20 or 30 round magazines, making it a reliable military rifle for sustained combat use.]

[Perk: Comes with a one-time shooting tutorial guide and Double Shot Per Hit specialty.]

"What do you mean by Double Shot Per Hit?"

Ethan had to ask because he did not entirely understand what those terms meant. Surely, he had found the M16 to be a good pick, but he had to understand it better before spending his hard-earned credits.

[Double Shot Per Hit simply means that a single pull of the trigger would result in two bullet shots at once. It is more advantageous when there are two enemies in sight, as the two bullets will go for one each.]

[The effectiveness of this feature is determined by whether or not the one-time shooting guide is learned properly.]

After reading the explanation, Ethan understood the concept.

However, when he checked his credit balance, his face changed at once.

[Boyfriend Credits: 378 BCs.]

"Ethan? We have been here for a while now. Where are the weapons? How are we sure they have not captured Nina yet?" Helen called.

Ethan did not respond, as he was completely focused on the Store. It was as if he had not heard her at all.

There were not many other good rifles he could get, and Ethan could not hide the fact that he preferred the M16.

After pondering for a moment, Ethan finally decided.

"I'm getting it."

His balance was only enough to get three M16s, but Ethan was not worried about that. As long as the rifles were in the right hands, it might be enough to get the job done.

He quickly confirmed the purchase.

[Are you sure you want to buy ×3 M16 rifles?]

[Yes.]

[No.]

He smashed the "Yes" icon, and just like that, the purchase was completed. Ethan watched his Boyfriend Credits disappear before his eyes.

[×3 purchase of M16 rifles successful!]

[Boyfriend Credits: 18 BCs.]

At that instant, three black, smart-looking M16 rifles emerged from nowhere.

Anna and the rest of the group noticed the phenomenon and flinched in shock.

"Huh?"

That was Helen's reaction.

With a gentle smirk on his face, Ethan first walked over to Helen, who had doubted him the whole time.

"Here," he said.

Still stunned, all she could do was take it, as she could not even move her lips.

Ethan moved away without waiting for any response, and his next stop was Eva.

It was as if she had already expected it.

Eva collected the rifle without much drama, which gave Ethan enough time to speak.

"We don't have enough rifles for now, but we'll surely get more."

He then turned to Anna.

"You'll have to walk behind me. The rest of you, take your positions. Those with the guns lead the way."

They all nodded, their faces still filled with confusion.

Ethan did not linger. Instead, he tilted his head and gave them a go-ahead.

"Okay then. Let's go save our friend."
