Chapter 29 - OTKE Chapter 29: Demiurge's Accusation

"What are you talking about? Demiurge! What qualifications do you have to make such a request to Ainz-sama!"

Albedo was first shocked, and then a surge of anger welled up in her heart. She scolded Demiurge. If this was Ainz-sama's opinion, she definitely wouldn't say anything more.

"What qualifications do I have to make such a request?" Demiurge suddenly darkened his face and questioned sternly, "You don't know what you've done, do you? As a guardian, did you properly protect Ainz-sama!"

"Uh...."

"Ainz-sama let you follow him, it was out of trust in you! But you have betrayed Ainz-sama's trust!

If it wasn't for Ainz-sama being okay! Even death wouldn't be enough to atone for your sins!" Demiurge continued to question, but his words made the other guardians' faces stiffen.

"Eh? Demiurge, what's wrong with Ainz-sama?" Shalltear asked.

"What happened to Ainz-sama?" The insectoid Cocytus asked next, his huge lower jaws colliding together.

"Did something happen in that village? Demiurge?" Sebas, who was by Momonga's side in the first place, thought for a moment. This was the only thing that could have happened.

After Ainz-sama decided to rescue, the guardians stayed on their respective floors to be on alert.

Only Albedo, Aura, and Mare, as well as fifteen eight-limbed blade assassin bugs, accompanied Ainz-sama.

But not long ago, Albedo had notified all the guardians to gather in the Throne Room, but she hadn't said anything. Sebas guessed that Ainz-sama had probably returned triumphantly from that village.

But now it seemed that this wasn't the case. Could something have happened?

"Eh? What's going on?" Momonga looked at the current scene, feeling confused in his heart. Then, after thinking about it slightly, he understood.

Could it be that Albedo hadn't told everyone about what happened in Carne Village at all?

"Ah!!!!"

Momonga immediately regretted it. Because of the ups and downs of various emotions, he had generated miscellaneous thoughts, causing him to ignore the most important thing. He should have asked Albedo, Aura, and Mare to temporarily conceal this matter.

As a result, because he was emotionally agitated at the time, he was only thinking about how to explain that he had been killed, but he didn't think of this at all.

His resurrection point in the guild was the Round Table Conference Room. Almost no one would go to that place. That was to say, apart from Albedo, Aura, and Mare, no one knew that he had been killed.

This way, he could narrow the scope of his loss of authority. And he could privately discuss with Albedo, Aura, and Mare, and ask them to keep it secret. Even satisfying some excessive demands of theirs was possible.

Hmm....wait a minute....

No, why would Demiurge know? Judging from the current situation, Albedo shouldn't have said this matter. Could it be Aura or...Mare?

Momonga looked at the elf twins' uneasy expressions thoughtfully.

Albedo's face was pale. She opened her mouth, but didn't say anything, because what Demiurge said was the truth.

It was indeed because of her mistake that Ainz-sama had been killed. She had noticed the movement behind her, but she was still one step too late.

Ainz-sama had brought her by his side out of consideration for class combination. Ainz-sama was a magic caster, and it would be troublesome if an enemy got close to him. And her role was to keep the enemy at a certain distance for Ainz-sama.

But she hadn't done this. Without Demiurge pointing it out, she herself was very ashamed, but she had absolutely no intention of hiding this matter.

But after all, Ainz-sama hadn't ordered her to convey this matter to the guardians. She didn't dare to act without authorization.

"Oh my, oh my, gorilla-face, what did you do to make Demiurge angry? Tell everyone and let them hear it," Shalltear asked Albedo with a smile.

She was naturally very happy that her love rival, who was competing with her for Ainz-sama, had fallen into trouble. But the next moment, she was stopped by Demiurge.

"Please pay attention to your words and actions, Shalltear. We are now talking about a very serious matter," Demiurge said in a deep voice, pushing up his glasses.

"Yes yes," Shalltear didn't care about Demiurge's attitude. Then, she asked, "Well then, back to the topic, what exactly did Albedo do that made you propose this to Ainz-sama?"

"Revoking Albedo's position as Guardian Overseer is a major event. Please explain the reason," Cocytus also asked.

And Sebas was silent. He had already vaguely guessed something in his heart, but since Ainz-sama didn't say it, these guesses were just guesses.

"Ainz-sama?" Demiurge looked at Momonga, using his eyes to ask if he should say it euphemistically, because in his view, all the mistakes of this accident were on Albedo, and had nothing to do with Ainz-sama.

Even if Ainz-sama was killed, it couldn't be said that Ainz-sama's strength was just like this. It was entirely Albedo's mistake that caused this result.

But he needed to consider Ainz-sama's face. If Ainz-sama didn't want to say that he had been killed, he wouldn't say it. He would just say that he had been repelled.

But in this way, Albedo's fault would be infinitely reduced, and her punishment would likely end without a conclusion. Demiurge didn't want to see such a result.

He had no personal grudges against Albedo. He was just looking at the problem with a businesslike attitude. He believed that Albedo's ability was no longer sufficient to hold such a position.

Momonga felt inexplicable at the gaze that Demiurge cast at him. He didn't know what he meant. He guessed that he probably wanted to ask him if he agreed to tell the guardians about the matter.

Since things had come to this, he could only announce it. It was impossible to hide it now.

"Say it, Demiurge."

Momonga said.

"Yes, Ainz-sama." Demiurge turned to look at the guardians.

"Ainz-sama, I am willing to accept any punishment. Today, I was attacked by an enemy. I didn't do a good job of protecting Ainz-sama, leaving Ainz-sama to face the enemy alone, which ultimately led to Ainz-sama being repelled. Your subordinate is willing to be punished."

Just as Demiurge was about to open his mouth, Albedo suddenly lowered her body, knelt to Momonga, and loudly said the course of events.

As Albedo's voice fell, there were bursts of exclamations.

"Ainz-sama was repelled?" Shalltear said in disbelief.

"Someone actually defeated Ainz-sama?" Cocytus was also incredulous.

"Aura, Mare, what are you doing?" Sebas looked at the elf twins and questioned.

"We...we...." Mare trembled, unable to answer a single word.

"We were...were tricked by the enemy," Aura said softly, lacking confidence.

Just as everyone was discussing, Demiurge smiled and stared at Albedo, saying, "Are you trying to shirk responsibility?"

"No, I absolutely don't mean that," Albedo turned her head sharply and said loudly.

"Then why don't you dare to tell the truth about what happened?" Demiurge pressed on step by step.

"I....." Albedo gritted her teeth, glaring at Demiurge.

She naturally understood what Demiurge's gaze meant, but Ainz-sama didn't care about his own face, but she couldn't not care about Ainz-sama's face.

Even if she disobeyed Ainz-sama's wishes, even if she accepted those punishments, she wanted to protect her beloved Ainz-sama.
