Chapter 9 - Segments 9 - The Sinbound Chronicles

Third POV.

" My name is Aspen....." the stranger said.

Sylus looked at him as if he has three heads,

Aspen took one look at him and burst out laughing,

" she didn't tell you anything about me, did she?

Sylus just stared at him.

" you know Sylus, why don't you skip school with me and let's have some fun, just you and me and Asta " he said through laughter.

" I'm sorry man but I can't do that"

" I know that, but don't you want to know anything about me or the world you know as Albatrou or how I know you,

or why are you what you are , I know you have questions lady Asha isn't answering I know you question your powers a times" he directed the last question to Asta, Sylus looked at him too and he glared at Aspen.

" Asta.... what is he saying " but Asta ignored him and continued to stare at Aspen. he laughed even more "looks like there is a secret in the closest relationships".

" are you going to tell him or I should " he finally stop. Asta just looked more annoyed.

"I don't know who you are but whatever you think you know isn't the whole story " Asta responded.

Sylus just looked confused, what the hell is going on here, he wandered.

" Sylus how many sins did they tell you existed" Aspen came back to him.

" seven obviously " Sylus answered unsure even when he knows very well,

Aspen looked at Asta and said " and you are not going to correct him"

" there's nothing to correct," Asta shot back.

"Okay sorry my bad, but is it okay though to let him believe that"

" what do you want " Asta shouted.

" nothing Asta, just a harmless question " Aspen said with a grin .

" Sylus get out we are already in the school " Asta ignored him.

Looking outside the car was parked in front of the school gate. Sylus opened the car door but before leaving Aspen grabbed him.

" take this" he handed him a book " whenever you're ready to know anything about what you're doing , read it , my card is in there call me wherever and whenever you don't understand anything ".

Sylus looked at the book and the man that looked like his captain he didn't know what to say.

" trust me , I mean no harm " he pushed the book in Sylus's hand.

He looked down at it but noticed bandages on his hands all the way under his sleeves, looking at him carefully; it looked like he is covered in bandages all over his body, his dress covers it all and well.

" why are you covered in bandages?" Sylus asked out of nowhere, then realizing it was not his place

" the same reason your captain is blind " Aspen answered.

"is there a reason she is blind " Sylus questioned." seriously, that's what you're interested in now" Asta shouted." get out of this car already ".

He took it and got out of the car, the driver drove away leaving Sylus at the gate questioning everything that just happened in five minutes .

Asta went back into the bag not after giving the book a long look that made Sylus uncomfortable.

" Asta... are you okay" he whispered.

" Don't talk to me till your ready to go back to Albatrou " his voice came loud and clear from the bag.

Sylus walked to class with his head down like always, not because he is timid but to not make friends that will question him too much.

He walked into class, afew students were seated talking and laughing the teacher wast present yet, he sat down on the chair at the back in the last roll that's where he always sits.

He place the book on the table, and questioned what just happened, one second it was cool and okey but the next second some stranger on this planet knows him from a different planet.

The book had a red cover with a golden embroidery patterns on it, the title ' THE SINBOUND CHRONICLES ' was written in wavey hand writing, the book was tick and old with golden brown sheets but somehow looked new, it had metallic corners that was turning black but not rusting, the longer he looked at the book the heavier it got, not mentally. physically.

Sylus ran his hands on the book, the patterns felt like it was carved into wood, the edges were sharp enough to cut, he tried to open it.

( you might want to open it when you're alone ) Asta's voice came through his head ( trust me you won't like the attention it will give you when you open it in public ).

' you know something about this book' Sylus whispered.

( I said don't talk to me till you're ready to go to Albatrou )

" come on, tell me something, who was that guy and what were you guys talking about, what's this whole thing about sins and Lady Asha "

* silent*

" fine, I will find out by myself, I'm going to the washroom " Sylus got up and headed outside the class with the book.

(don't take the book along ) Asta wanted to say but shut up anyway.

Asta himself wasn't sure of what was going on, for some reason he knows that that guy knows too much, Asha mast know him from somewhere maybe when they get back to Albatrou he can ask her who that man was.

The book he gave to Sylus ' THE SINBOUND CHRONICLES ' is actually written by Asha when she was young even before the team Kings became an idea, he don't know what's in the book but if Asha wrote it, then it's safe he guess .

If he was to remember correctly, she wrote fourteen books before establishing 'Kings ' , she doesn't just write with words, every letter holds power, emotions and life, opening it here would cause a bit of a storm...

Sylus walked to the washroom, luckily no one was there, the long halls caught the reflected light from outside,

he opened one of the chambers and rocked himself in,

As he opens the book, the red cover began to move almost like flowing blood but never poured out, just moved across the page under the pattern, the pages flipped fast and it felt like the book was bigger and longer then it looked, pages that wasn't in the book flipped by, the pages kept going and going and it stop

the text on that pages moved like it's alive, It doesn't stay still, shifting letters, twisting into new shapes, changing from language to language most of it he hadn't seen before, till it stopped at the language he could read,

the page had a symbol in the center, a spiral shape, but instead of a line it was made of numbers, numbers from one to twelve move in a spiral shape with a single clock hand on the number twelve, a greed smoke tied the spiral, so tight it looked like it hurt,

Sylus recognized it instantly, he had a symbol from Asta when they formed the sin-master contract, there was a symbol of a snake feeding on gold, Lady Asha explained that it was the symbol of his sin, Asta

but when he looked closely the snake had the spiral of numbers on it forehead hidden in the scales of the snake but there, the green glow of the snake tied it down, he didn't question it then but now he felt like he should have,

just when he began to read the text,

The air grows heavy. A cold breeze brushes past, but all windows are shut. A distant whisper, not quite words hums in the background or maybe in his head, he couldn't tell, the clock hand started to spin, the whisper in his head grew louder till he could tell what it mean, it sounded like the text was reading itself,

The symbol of greed he got from his training to tame Asta glowed faintly on the back of his hand, he saw it

The symbol shimmered into view on the back of his hand, faint at first, then pulsing with a soft, golden glow.

The serpent's eye was a slit of emerald green, alive and unblinking, the spiral of numbers on its forehead began to shine and twist slow at first as if it was waking up then wildly, it shot pain in Sylus hand, the wilder the much pain,

the green vines snapped and the spiral of numbers vanished from the serpent head and slowly it fades to leaving a numb feeling,

he relaxed slowly rubbing the place where the symbol was, but just when he was about to close the book, pain shot through his whole body,

A quick vision flashed before his eyes,

he saw a dark field with a dark sky, he stood in the middle of the field, a giant hole in the ground caught his attention, he walked closer and looked into it, he could only make out the green smoke and the bottom and the occasional roars of a beast, he lost interest in it and turned around but while walking away he heard a sound behind, he turned around again but only to see a hand holding the edge of the hole ,

someone was crawling out , he stood there and watched, then a man crawled out his eyes had the spiral of numbers, he was wet and muddy but his eyes glowed, he creepy man smiled at him,

Sylus tried to move but couldn't, he looked down to see his feet sunk into the soil, his body was covered in smoke only his eyes shine through the thick smoke, the creature that crawled out narrowed his eyes at him and it felt like the distance between them was closing,

Sylus closed the book, threw it across the space and held his chest, trying to breath again, everything came back to normal, just in time as two guys entered, he didn't even know why or how he was sweating, but one thing was clear something has seen him and how is interested .

If he needed to know what happened, he had to see two people, Lady Asha or the stranger Aspen, he took the card Aspen place in the book, his contact information was there.

he stared at it for sometime ' no I can't trust a stranger, I have to talk to lady Asha first,'

He rushed to the class and shaved the book under his desk , all he had to do was wait for school to be over...

but that was easier said than done, the eyes on the man, the way he smiled, the hole he crawled out of, the spiral of numbers, everything he saw did not put him at peace .....
