Brealyn's POV
Well, Lucien lied.
A few hours later, I found myself in an Uber heading to the meet-up location alone. I leaned back on the seat trying to get my thoughts together as my mind drifted back to earlier
Lucien had an emergency; he couldn't disclose the details. We were having breakfast together when his phone started to ring immediately and his face went pale.
"Is something wrong?" I had asked him tentatively. Lucien slowly stood up, abandoning his plate, and he glanced up at me with a worried expression.
"Something came up, I have to leave." He had explained. My brows furrowed. He could not just leave, we had responsibilities to fulfil after all, we were here because of the project.
