Chapter 262 - The Way Home

"Everyone, the issue is clear now. Do you think we should still take action against Gu Yuan?"

"If we do, what level of trainer strength must we deploy to ensure there are no mistakes?"

A video conference was convened once again. This time, the representative from the Cotton family did not speak first. Instead, the Kurata family representative took the lead.

Facing this question, no one wanted to answer, causing the meeting to fall into silence.

Kurata knew exactly what these people were thinking.

They simply felt that Gu Yuan was currently just a Leader Rank trainer. No matter how much of a genius he was, he could not yet influence their families or enterprises.

Conversely, their frequent moves against Gu Yuan had clearly attracted the fighting spirit of the Elite Four.

Not only had they failed to succeed, but the Elite Four had also found numerous opportunities to counterattack, resulting in even greater losses.

Rather than continuing like this, they felt it was better to let Gu Yuan grow. Even if he became powerful later, so what?

Even the Elite Four, as strong as they were, could only navigate within the current rules when dealing with them.

In their eyes, Gu Yuan would not pose too great a threat and would eventually become a part of the established order anyway.

Of course, there were clever individuals among them, but none would stand up in the midst of this silence.

Sometimes, being too outstanding brought no benefits; instead, one might become the target of others' jealousy and resentment.

In reality, the main reason the system was so corrupt lay with the three major families.

Long-term development had taught other families that once they reached a certain level, they would become a thorn in the side of the three major families, who would then use every means possible to suppress them.

Even if they wanted to resist, various schemes had long since eroded trust between these families. No one knew if another would sell them out for the interests offered by the big three.

Over time, these families lost the desire to advance. Instead, they became hedonistic, wanting only to firmly grasp their current interests.

If this situation were to change, the three major families would need to sacrifice their own interests, which was utterly unrealistic.

Thus, this vicious cycle would continue.

If one day one of the three major families could take a step further, it might cause some impact, but the Elite Four gave them no such opportunity.

"Since that is the case, the operations against Gu Yuan will be temporarily suspended. If the need arises in the future, we can discuss it again, how about that?"

After another silence, the Kurata representative spoke again, quickly gaining the approval of many.

Looking at their faces, the Kurata representative couldn't help but feel a mocking smile in his heart.

Although he didn't know Gu Yuan deeply, he knew from the boy's track record that he was not the type to remain silent after being assassinated.

The moment Gu Yuan returned to the Kanto region, he would likely use these families as his first targets.

If he didn't act immediately, it certainly meant he had a larger scheme in mind for even greater retaliation.

Neither outcome was something these families could easily withstand. When the time came, he would see how these people begged him to intervene.

The other two major families shared the same thoughts as the Kurata representative.

After several assassination attempts, the three major families had figured it out.

While these were supposed to be "joint operations," the other families only sent cannon fodder. They did nothing significant and didn't have to worry about repercussions, while the three major families suffered real losses.

Since that was the case, they would simply stop caring and let these smaller families feel the pain as well.

Gu Yuan, unaware that the three major families planned to use him to consolidate the rest, was getting closer and closer to the Kanto region.

Throughout the voyage, the revitalized Gu Yuan not only stabilized his psychic power but improved it significantly. His physical fitness also became increasingly excellent.

This effect was partly due to the innate physical potential of humans in the Pokémon world.

One had to remember that the future Ash Ketchum could resist Legendaries with his bare body; Gu Yuan's current improvement was actually quite insignificant by comparison.

Charizard and the others also progressed rapidly with the help of points.

Whenever Gu Yuan confirmed there were no threats on the ship, he would go out to sea with Alakazam to find wild Pokémon to fight. This allowed him to accumulate points and serve as a patrol to ensure no family assassins were approaching.

To Gu Yuan's surprise, he encountered no problems at all.

He met no assassins from the families, no wild Pokémon attacks, and not even a single pirate.

This peaceful journey didn't make Gu Yuan lower his guard. Instead, it made him more cautious. Who knew if those people were planning something big?

As if to put his mind at ease, a group of Pokémon with decent strength soon appeared within the System's detection range.

Out of caution, Gu Yuan first reported the situation to Dar and then walked quickly onto the deck.

The strongest of the Pokémon detected by the System was only at the Ace Rank. He didn't even need Charizard to act; Alakazam or Annihilape alone could handle them.

Therefore, Gu Yuan didn't notify the captain. Instead, he wanted to see if this was a normal wild Pokémon attack or if someone was pulling the strings.

Soon, a group of Tentacruel surfaced, surrounding the ship.

Neither the System's detection nor Alakazam's psychic power could find any abnormalities.

After confirming it was just a wild Pokémon attack, Gu Yuan let Annihilape, who was hiding in the shadows, take action.

Releasing Phantom Force, Annihilape vanished into the rift of space.

At this moment, facing the attack of the Tentacruel, the captain became nervous. He ordered the sailors to prepare while calling for the trainers on board to help.

However, in the next second, a blurred figure appeared in the middle of the Tentacruel swarm.

Every time this figure struck, a Tentacruel lost its ability to battle.

In the end, when the leader of the swarm faced this blurred figure, it was defeated in a single blow.

Such formidable strength left the panicked crowd on board in shock.

Looking around, the captain saw no other ships and immediately guessed that a powerhouse on board had acted.

Unfortunately, Gu Yuan had already returned to his room, so the captain found nothing.

Knowing the powerhouse didn't want to reveal its identity, the captain didn't make a fuss. He simply ordered the ship to leave as quickly as possible.

Back in his room, Gu Yuan felt a bit sentimental.

The Ace Rank Pokémon that he once feared could now be solved so easily. He couldn't help but feel how much things had changed.

With the wild Pokémon attack resolved, nothing else occurred. Gu Yuan and Dar successfully returned to the Kanto region.
