Chapter 10 – Important Days in the Empire

The Pope's speech had stirred up controversy.

Rumors spread of a conspiracy among nobles, hinting at a possible war.

But then the barbarians attacked the wall.

And with the Pope's words—published in the Church's newspaper—everything settled down.

Crisis averted.

Since that day, I tried to avoid Lucas as much as possible.

Two years had passed.

I was now ten years old in this world.

Thanks to my work in the church, my body was stronger than most ten-year-olds here.

Something I never had in my previous life.

I looked at the crowd—so eager, so excited.

Children had come with their parents.

And for good reason.

Today was the day their futures would be revealed.

The type of magic they possessed would be discovered, and their lives would be planned accordingly.

All in preparation for the Imperial Elite Academy.

It didn't matter to me.

I had no magic.

Grandpa knew how upset I was.

He let me leave the church for the day.

But outside wasn't any better.

Just like inside, everyone was heading toward the churches.

Three kids were chatting about what magic they might have.

Kid 1: "I hope I get fire magic!"

Kid 2: "Nah, water magic is better. It puts out fire."

Kid 3: "Ice magic is the strongest. I wish I had ice."

Kid 2 & 1: "idiot! Ice magic Is only for the Flora family. No one else in the empire has it."

Kid 3: "I know that, but still…"

Me: "Can you shut up already? You're too loud."

They looked scared.

One tried to step forward.

Me: "Sit down, you brat."

I lunged at them.

They ran away in fear.

Idiots.

Then I noticed something across the street.

An old woman was trying to get people to let her read their fortune.

No one paid attention.

Her eyes met mine.

Ugh. I had no patience for this nonsense.

I didn't believe in superstitions.

I turned to leave—

And she was suddenly in front of me.

Old Woman: "Hey there, kid."

Me: "…!"

Her speed shocked me.

Me: "How… how did you…?"

Old Woman: "Forget all that. Come on, let me read your fortune."

I was trapped.

She dragged me Into her booth.

I didn't believe any of it.

But I had no choice.

She closed her eyes and placed her finger on my forehead.

Old Woman: "Hmm… I see a bright future. A good life. A girl—no, wait… two stunning girls by your side. They're In love with you."

Yeah, right.

Superstition.

Even in my past life, I never had anyone.

I wasn't social.

Didn't like relationships.

Now I'm supposed to have two girlfriends?

Ridiculous.

Suddenly, she gasped and pulled her finger away.

I didn't know what had happened.

She started packing up her things, muttering something.

Me: "Excuse me, ma'am? Is something wrong?"

Old Woman: "Nothing. Just… be careful in the future."

She shoved me out of the booth.

Me: "Don't you want payment?"

Old Woman: "No, no. Consider it a gift. Just… think about it."

Weird.

That evening, I returned to the church.

Most people had left.

Only a few remained.

One of them was my tormentor—Lucas.

He approached me with his usual mocking tone.

Lucas: "Well, well. Look who it is—Tom Breach. Let's see… do you know what my magic is? Oh, right. You don't. You're a Breach. Magicless. But me? I'm a level three fire user!"

He laughed.

Sister Patolina saw the scene and came over.

She knelt beside me.

Sister Patolina: "Tom, did you find out your magic?"

Me: "No, Sister. I'm a Breach."

She gently pulled my hand.

Sister Patolina: "Have faith in the goddess. Don't lose hope."

Sister Patolina: "Father, can you check Tom's magic?"

Father looked up from cleaning dishes.

Father: "What?"

Sister Patolina: "Can you check Tom's magic?"

He looked at me with pity.

Then asked me to place my hand on the magic orb.

Lucas smirked.

I placed my hand on the orb, full of despair.

For a few minutes, nothing happened.

Then—

A whirlwind surrounded us.

The orb turned into a glowing silver-white sphere.

It cracked.

The whirlwind faded.

Everyone stared in shock.

Father: "I… I can't believe it. You're blessed by the goddess. Truly blessed."

Sister Patolina: "What happened?"

Father: "You won't believe this. Tom has magic. Real magic."

Everyone was stunned.

I had magic.

Wind magic.

Then Father said something that left everyone speechless.

Father: "Wind magic… five stars. Do you understand? Five stars!"

He hugged me and lifted me into the air.

I saw the shock In Lucas's eyes.

Yes.

I had magic.

Wind magic.

Five-star magic.

Noble-level.

I was a Breach.

But a Breach with magic.

And this…

This is my story.

The story of Tom Breach, In the Book of Noble Heroism.
