Chapter 47 - Chapter 47: The God of Death's Cruelty

Nilgai wasn't entirely useless, though.

It was more aware of the gap between itself and Diana than any other Imp.

So when Diana dragged it over, intending to decapitate it with a sword, it directly used a smoke escape to slip away.

Below the stage, there was a hanging video screen playing an old movie from the 1920s.

The hall was so badly damaged, but this screen remained intact.

Nilgai ran to the screen and plunged into it like diving into a pool of Water.

Diana pursued to the screen, stopping cautiously.

She stirred her godfire sword into the screen, but it felt like she was poking into empty space.

Just then, Dane ascended from below with thunder, flying to her side and stopping.

"What's wrong?"

"That Imp hid inside here."

Dane inserted his finger to feel around, then withdrew his hand.

"There's a very strong negative energy inside. It was right of you not to rush in. It contains a small pocket dimension."

It was unclear where this Imp got this thing; Nilgai could never have created it with its own power.

"So what do we do?" Diana said unhappily.

For a battle-loving Amazon, the most annoying type of opponent was one who preferred clever tricks to direct combat.

She just wanted a straightforward fight, was that so hard?

"Let me think of something."

As Dane spoke, he clenched his hand, and the Wizard Scepter was once again firmly in his grasp.

He inserted the crystal into it, probing slightly to test the Water.

Then he chanted a spell he had long wanted to try:

"Holy Light Expel!"

The crystal lit up with a dazzling White light, no longer gentle like the one that previously sheltered the souls.

Instead, it was full of majesty and strong aggression.

The Dark Dimension in the screen World retreated in the face of the White light, and Dane increased his magic output, making the crystal shine almost like a Small Sun.

Even Diana couldn't help but cover her eyes; she couldn't look directly at such light.

"Stop—!!!"

Countless shrill screams came from the screen Small World, and Diana's expression changed.

These voices, conservatively estimated, numbered no less than several hundred to a thousand.

If she rushed in rashly, even if she could fight her way out, she would probably be stripped of a layer of skin!

These were all inhabitants of the Dark Dimension, devils colluding with demons.

Unlike omnivorous demons, devils only consume human souls.

The more desperate and fallen the soul, the more they cherished it.

Therefore, this Small World almost contained all the evil scripts in this World, which could provide various hellish tortures worse than death to those who entered it.

Now, all these evil things were swept away by Dane.

Dane suddenly pulled out his Scepter, and an overwhelming flood of devils gushed out from the tiny screen, a dense, black mass almost filling the entire hall.

He slammed the Scepter onto the ground, and a spherical White light shield, twenty feet in diameter, expanded with the crystal as its center.

It completely blocked the devils outside.

"Kill him!"

A devil shrieked, and groups of devils charged the Holy Light Shield en masse, making cracking sounds.

Dane sneered, "You remnants, how dare you trash run wild on my territory!"

He gently wiped his left palm across the crystal, and a powerful suction force suddenly generated.

Affected by this suction, the devils were all drawn and stuck to the Holy Light wall.

These devils were all incorporeal spirits, so their essence was subject to the restraint of the God of Death's power.

Moreover, the God of Death's divinity on Dane was from the Aztec pantheon. What was this pantheon best at?

Human sacrifice!

So the devils discovered in horror that their spiritual bodies were gradually stretched by the suction, compressed into abstract paintings and smeared onto the Holy Light wall.

This caused the Holy Light to burn their spiritual bodies intensely over a unit area, so intensely that they directly ignited.

It was like a thick stack of cardboard being difficult to burn with an open flame, but a thin piece of paper would burn just by getting close to a high-temperature fireplace.

The devils, compressed into sheets, were forced to experience this extremely painful torture.

And Dane, like frying pancakes, tirelessly roasted them.

"No! Spare us! Please spare us!"

Dane disdained to even speak with these devils.

To him, devils were like cockroaches; if you encountered them, you killed them, no nonsense.

He increased the attraction of the God of Death's power, pressing the devils' spiritual bodies even thinner.

He was torturing them as offerings to the God of Death, just like the 'cannon branding' punishment.

And he himself, as the God of Death, rapidly absorbed the devils' "offerings," and his previously somewhat depleted God of Death's divinity began to grow stronger.

"I curse you! You cruel freak!"

Dane heard someone curse him, but just smiled without speaking.

Blasphemers should be tortured!

So he repeatedly rubbed the speaking devil against the Holy Light wall, as if polishing its face on an asphalt road.

The devil let out an even higher-pitched scream, but it was on its last breath shortly after.

At this point, Dane would stuff other devils into its stomach to revive its spirit, then continue the torment.

It contributed a great deal of power to the God of Death's divinity, which could be seen cheering and encouraging such torture.

Even Diana, witnessing this, found it cruel, but she was not an unreasonable woman, especially when the target was a devil; she wouldn't plead for it.

However, she was concerned about Dane's mental state; this was clearly not a method a hero should use.

Who knows how much time passed, but it only ended when the last devil, the one who dared to curse Dane, finally couldn't bear it and self-destructed.

At this moment, deprived of the devils' magic, the screen Small World began its collapse.

Nilgai, with no other choice, had to jump out.

Diana drew her sword and slashed.

"Wait, wait, the little girl's soul is still in my hands!"

Nilgai hastily cried out.

The godfire sword was less than a centimeter from its neck, almost cutting it in half with just an air slash.

Diana clearly knew about the girl named Cuixi, imprisoned within Nilgai's body. She looked at Dane with some hesitation. Dane understood her meaning.

Seeing the unfavorable situation, Nilgai immediately tried to self-destruct to kill Cuixi.

But Dane activated Mercury's divine speed; its movements seemed almost frozen in his eyes.

In Dane's own vision, everything around him seemed to enter a state of time stagnation. He pressed his hand against the demon's chest.

With a gentle push, his entire forearm sank into Nilgai's chest cavity.

But everyone, don't worry, at this moment, the demon didn't feel any pain.

Dane fumbled a bit and then grasped Nilgai's heart.

He then pulled it out with ease, like pulling a potato from the ground.

A crimson heart was in his hand.

So, a demon's heart was also red.

The time stagnation phenomenon lifted, and only then did Nilgai feel the sharp pain in its chest.

It stared blankly at the heart in Dane's hand, raising a weak hand as if trying to snatch it back.

Diana, quick as a flash, beheaded it on the spot!
