Chapter 048.5 The Witch's Submission
The events in Los Angeles concluded, and the members returned to their daily lives.
But this time, Superman's absence seemed to have made Clark a little emotional.
"You guys went on this mission without me!"
Clark had learned the details of this event from Cortana.
Dane asked, puzzled: "Weren't you busy with farm work recently?"
Yes, Mr. Clark Kent, a millionaire—oh, no, now very likely a billionaire—was most passionate about farming.
Dane felt that this guy might have been his fellow countryman in a past life; otherwise, why would he be so dedicated to farm work?
And he wasn't willing to use his powers to finish quickly, insisting on cultivating slowly like an ordinary person.
He said that Old Kent taught him always to maintain a humble heart towards the land and nature.
Dane was deeply moved by his humility, so he didn't call him for the demon-fighting dungeon.
Clark mumbled a bit upon hearing this, then slowly said:
"Actually, being late for a little while wouldn't have mattered much…"
Dane sneered: "The enemies there were all demons, and some had little tricks to manipulate people's hearts."
"I was afraid that if you went, it would be hard to say whose side you'd be on!"
Clark lifted his head and thumped his chest, making a truly earth-shattering sound that echoed throughout the Hall of Justice.
He guaranteed: "That's absolutely impossible; my will is as indestructible as my body!"
He had such confidence.
One must know that even Dane, without using magic lightning, couldn't break through his defenses.
But Dane didn't have much faith in him; Clark was still a pure and innocent virgin.
Even if he could resist the temptation of demons, could he resist a generous and intellectual older sister like the Spirit of Los Angeles?
Her embrace was very broad! She was best at warming up little puppies like him.
So Dane didn't bother arguing with him and said directly:
"Anyway, this matter is over; if you want to prove yourself, you'll have to wait until next time."
"Then you have to promise that next time you won't secretly do missions behind my back with others!"
Dane reluctantly agreed; satisfied with his promise, Clark left.
After he left, Dane turned and returned to his Rock of Eternity.
He planned to research how to create a divine artifact capable of containing the power of the God of Death.
But during this research, he discovered a problem.
He wanted to make this divine artifact a hidden weapon that could instantly kill, sealing the throat with blood.
However, this belonged to the curse series of magic, which was not very compatible with Shazam's inherent attributes.
Solomon only taught him how to deal with demons but didn't teach him how to use evil power.
This was understandable; it was to prevent Shazam's successors from going astray and pursuing dark power.
But they apparently hadn't considered Dane's situation, which left him at a loss for a while.
However, he quickly found a solution.
Everyone must remember that the Rock of Eternity was not just inhabited by Dane alone now.
Zatanna and June Moone also lived there.
Due to the peculiarity of June's situation, Zatanna persuaded her to stay at the Rock of Eternity.
At least in this sacred magic place, she didn't have to worry about the Witch inside her suddenly running out and harming innocent people.
Moreover, after Dane renovated the place, he set up a magical version of the internet there, allowing communication with the outside World via computer.
Only the IP address couldn't be traced.
Dane had Cortana try to track the IP address of the Rock of Eternity, and it eventually showed the address near Jupiter… In short, June would temporarily live in the Rock of Eternity until the threat of the Witch was completely resolved.
But this created a somewhat delicate atmosphere.
Zatanna also had her own work; she often had to go out to perform, as she needed to earn money.
As a woman determined to be independent and self-reliant, she couldn't accept Dane's financial support.
She wouldn't refuse occasional gifts, but if he gave her money, she would probably get angry.
So, there were many times at the Rock of Eternity when it was just Dane and June Moone, a single man and woman… Feeling the strange atmosphere, Dane didn't live at the Rock of Eternity for a long time.
Returning after a long absence this time, he almost forgot about this person.
The Witch, that Loki, was quite adept at curses!
But she might not cooperate with work; she probably hated Dane to death by now.
After much deliberation, Dane finally made a decision.
If one is not ruthless, one cannot stand firm.
June Moone, don't blame me.
That night, Dane cast a dream-walking spell and entered June's mental World.
During this time at the Rock of Eternity, June's spirit had also been strengthened to a certain extent, finally barely able to accommodate Dane's mental intrusion.
In June's inner World, the Witch saw him at a glance.
Without a word, she turned and ran.
Of course, Dane couldn't let her escape; he reached out and grabbed her back like a chick.
"What do you want to do!" the Witch looked at him resentfully.
Dane felt a bit troubled, but he didn't have much patience for Loki; he could only use crude methods.
"I remember the survival rule of your primitive Witch cult is that the strong are king; now I need you to serve me as your master, are you willing?"
"You're dreaming!"
The Witch was furious; she had run rampant for thousands of years, and no one had ever dared to enslave her; she had always been the one to enslave others.
"So, there's nothing to discuss?"
Dane said regretfully.
Immediately, his hands lit up with lightning, and the lightning snakes spread over the Witch's body like living things.
Electrifying her into mad screams.
Ah—!
Dane desperately controlled his divine power, aiming to torment her without causing substantial harm to June.
But the Witch's will was strong; he didn't gain much that night, and he was prepared for a long battle.
He felt a bit awkward when he saw June the next day; she almost hid from Dane.
But none of this could shake Dane's decision; he gave the Witch electrotherapy every night on time.
Who knew that as he continued, the Witch's own strength actually improved slightly… "Forget it, as long as the goal is achieved, this is a bonus for you."
This continued for almost a month, and he felt that the Witch's attitude was finally softening.
He just felt that the direction seemed a bit off.
Finally, one day, Dane noticed that the Witch was actually smiling with pleasure while receiving electrotherapy; he was stunned.
Then he stopped, and the Witch looked at him, seemingly wondering why he wasn't continuing.
"Are you a bit strange?"
His face darkened a bit; I'm seriously conducting electrocution, but you're making that expression.
It makes me have to wonder if you have a safeword; are we playing some strange game?
But the Witch clearly wasn't thinking that way; she already knew that Dane had no intention of killing her.
On the contrary, although she seemed to be suffering during this period, her strength had improved slightly.
The Rock of Eternity's power was gradually becoming absorbable by her. Given this, her gaze towards Dane recently was no longer filled with such hatred.
And her brother, no one actually knew, that for extradimensional lifeforms like them, after Death in the current world, their 'spirit' would directly return to their extradimension.
They couldn't return to the current world again.
Death for them was merely an exile, far from the end.
She was simply coveting the prosperity of the human world, unwilling to return to that lifeless dimension.
During this time, she had also considered many things. If it was just surrendering to Dane, it didn't seem like something unacceptable.
After all, he was indeed strong enough and qualified enough.
So when Dane asked her again if she was willing to surrender, she agreed.
This, on the contrary, left him bewildered. It didn't seem like she was yielding to his power.
Why did she agree?
With caution, he cast a contract magic and had the Witch sign it.
And she signed it readily.
Dane was very surprised, so much so that even though the matter was settled, he felt no sense of accomplishment.
But he always adhered to the attitude of 'don't use those you doubt, and don't doubt those you use.' Since the Witch had already stated her position, he was willing to trust her.
Without wasting time, he immediately dragged the Witch to research the design of the God of Death's artifact.
