Chapter 51 - Chapter 50: Maimed or Death, You Have to Choose One

Batman pursued without hesitation, his doubts deepening.

He knew Selina. She might steal jewelry, museum artifacts, or private heirloom collections.

But she would never steal cash; this Cat only loved shiny things.

"Do you like tonight's view, Bruce?"

During the chase, Catwoman even had time to turn back and talk to him.

"Tonight, this is all you'll get."

Batman said in a low voice: "Don't be so sure, Selina!"

He reached out to grab her; too many questions plagued his mind.

Lately, Selina had been trying to move towards the side of law, the side of right, the side of good.

She clearly hadn't stolen in a long time, so why did she strike again today?

There must be something fishy going on.

But just as Batman's hand was about to grasp Catwoman, a line of Fire streaked past, cutting his rope.

That was a sniper!

Batman reacted quickly, swiftly deploying his cape-glider and descending from the top of the skyscraper to land on a gargoyle's head.

He immediately looked around, trying to find the shooter.

But as he zoomed in with his 17x scope to observe the distance, a flash of Fire suddenly appeared in his vision.

He was shot; no matter how fast Batman reacted, he couldn't be faster than a supersonic bullet. The bullet hit him directly in the mask.

Taking a bullet to the face head-on, Batman's body involuntarily plummeted, then crashed heavily to the ground.

And the place he fell was the territory of the Yamada-gumi in Crime Alley.

The Yamada-gumi thugs seemed to have been waiting there for a long time; they swarmed him the moment they saw Batman fall.

All the thugs charged with knives and clubs. They didn't use guns, as gunshots could easily attract the Police.

More importantly, they were afraid of attracting Red Hood.

More gang killers had been killed by Red Hood recently than they had assassinated in the past year.

They thought Batman, having fallen from such a height, must have lost his ability to move.

But Batman quickly showed them they were wrong.

Ever since he discovered that there were super-powered beings like Superman and Shazam in this World, Bruce no longer wore his old suits.

He wasn't a pedantic person; since the new nanotech suit was better, why would he switch back to a conventional suit?

Therefore, falling from the high-rise, Batman was actually unharmed.

The reason he didn't move was because he was adjusting the output power of his suit.

He had just fought Killer Croc; if he used that level of power against these scumbags, he was worried he might accidentally kill them.

So, after enduring a few blows, Batman decisively counterattacked.

He reached out and snatched a short steel club from one man, breaking the nose of a nearby person with the first strike and even fixing their teeth in the process.

Then, with a sweeping blow, he broke the arms and ribs of the closest few people.

As they groaned and fell to the ground, Batman covered himself with his cape, and when he revealed himself again, he threw Bat-Batarangs.

Sonic bombs exploded, and countless thugs collapsed stiffly to the ground.

Batman walked forward, occasionally kicking those who still had the strength to stand up, putting them to sleep quietly.

He looked up, both at the direction of the attack and the direction Selina had departed.

Who exactly was targeting him?

He thought for a moment, then dialed Dane's number.

"Batman?"

On the 3D display, Dane's face appeared next to a forge.

"Say what you need to quickly, I'm a bit busy."

Dane was in the middle of smelting a divine artifact; he had said he would forge a hidden weapon imbued with the power of Death, and he was determined to do it.

"Are there any other Justice League members in Gotham recently?"

"Hold on, let me check."

Batman waited for a while before Dane replied.

"Just found out, Poison Ivy and Barbara returned to Gotham a month ago."

"They're reportedly trying to form an all-female hero team and are currently recruiting members."

"Oh, and Clark seems to be there too."

Batman frowned, "What is he doing here?"

"I heard he made a Police friend named Owens there and has been visiting recently."

Is he that popular?

Batman thought, then recalled Clark's actions as an ordinary person helping with city construction.

He shook his head; while still wary, Batman had to admit that no one could dislike Clark's personality.

He was almost as if all the 'good' in the World was concentrated in him, even knowing he possessed Superman's power.

Bruce found it hard to imagine Clark doing evil.

"Anything else? If not, I'm hanging up."

With that, he hung up decisively without waiting for Batman's reply.

This guy's personality is still so awful! Batman thought expressionlessly.

Batman fired a nanotech grappling hook, intending to follow the bullet's trajectory to find more clues about the attacker.

But before he could even begin, Alfred suddenly called.

"Master Bruce, Master Grayson is in trouble!"

Nightwing!

Batman's heart tightened, and he quickly summoned the Batmobile.

"Send me the location, damn it! Didn't Dick already return to Blüdhaven?"

"He was worried about Miss Barbara, so he's been with her recently."

"How is Barbara?" Batman's urgency intensified.

"Miss Barbara is with her other friends now; she is safe."

Batman remembered what Dane had said a few minutes ago; it seemed Barbara had indeed found some teammates.

The Batmobile was fast and soon arrived at the address Alfred had given.

Bang bang bang—!

As soon as Bruce got out of the car, he heard several gunshots. He rushed towards the source of the sound.

He happened to see Red Hood slaughtering the armed gang killers!

On the ground nearby, a familiar figure lay there.

Batman hurried over, carefully checking Nightwing's injuries.

It was bad; his skull had sustained almost catastrophic damage and required immediate surgery!

"You're late again, Batman."

In front of Batman, Red Hood blew off the head of the last gunman.

The remaining group of unarmed men trembled in fear.

They were all sharp-eyed, "smart people" who had dropped their guns the moment they saw Red Hood arrive.

"Don't kill me, I dropped my gun! You can't kill us!"

Upon hearing this, Red Hood actually put his gun away, but he clearly wasn't going to let them off the hook.

He walked up to the man who had just spoken and grabbed his right hand.

"Is this your dominant hand?"

Under Red Hood's blood-red mask, the gunman nodded frantically.

Crack—!

Red Hood sneered as he broke his hand, listening to his screams, and said fiercely:

"Of course I won't kill you, but you don't mind if I take out some insurance, do you?"

Seeing this, how could the other gunmen dare to stay?

They fled backward, but Red Hood chased right after them.

Anyone who dared to pick up a gun was mercilessly shot in the head.

Red Hood's new rule: crippled or Death.

You have to choose one...
