Chapter 72 - Chapter 71 A New Hero Has Appeared

Coast City.

Hal Jordan is a test pilot for Ferris Aircraft Manufacturing Company. Today is a big day for the company's drone product demonstration.

To secure a procurement order from the Military, Ferris specifically arranged a maiden flight for their drone.

"The Ferris Sabre III, the unmanned fighter jet representing the highest level of artificial intelligence."

"It possesses all the capabilities and combat skills of a human pilot, but without making the mistakes humans do."

The president of Ferris stood with Senator Hammond, vehemently extolling the virtues of their fighter jet.

To showcase the drone's best side during the live demonstration,

He also specifically assigned three excellent pilots to the test flight mission, including Hal Jordan.

But perhaps Hal was too outstanding, or perhaps he completely misunderstood the president's intentions.

During the live demonstration, he clashed with two drones.

Ultimately, by violating regulations, he single-handedly blew up two unmanned fighter jets.

This certainly showcased his superb flying skills and audacious personality, but it ruined Ferris Company's sky-high procurement order.

Furthermore, Hal also lost a brand new F35 fighter jet belonging to the company.

From top to bottom within the company, everyone, except his ex-girlfriend Carol Ferris who still loved him, wished they could strangle him on the spot.

Walking out of the company, on a small road not far from home, there was not a single pedestrian besides Hal.

Only then did he feel some regret. He didn't know what came over him during the flight; he was enveloped by an inexplicable emotion that made him unwilling to easily admit defeat.

But just as he walked alone down the deserted road, a green light suddenly enveloped him.

"What. The. Hell..."

The green light carried him, flying him directly into the sky.

At this point, Hal didn't dare to move. He was afraid that if he moved recklessly again, he would fall to his Death.

Although he wasn't sure of his current speed, he was certain it was at least much faster than 5.

Before long, Hal was carried by the green light and landed on the beach at the edge of the city.

As soon as he landed, he saw a spaceship, clearly an alien creation, that had crashed not far from the sea.

Out of curiosity, and with some suspicion, he cautiously approached.

Then, he saw the dying red alien sitting in the cockpit.

He had a humanoid form, facial features similar to humans, and very prominent and distinct muscle Texture.

At this moment, there was a clear gash on his chest, a very serious penetrating wound.

Hal didn't hesitate for a moment. He took a few quick steps forward, attempting to pick up the alien.

"I don't know if the hospital can save you, friend, but we have to try."

"Don't move."

But to Hal's surprise, the alien spoke fluent U.S. English.

This made him wonder again if this "~`person" wasn't actually an alien?

"It's alright," the red-skinned alien said.

"My time of Death has come."

"You speak English? That's great! Tell me how to save you. You want me to save you, right?"

"No, I don't speak your language."

Although he said that, Hal couldn't help but feel that what he was speaking was English.

The alien tremblingly raised his hand, displaying a green ring.

"It's this ring."

Hal was listening when he suddenly saw the ring fly off his finger.

This startled him.

"My name is Abin Sur. You, yes, you."

Abin Sur spoke with difficulty.

"It chose you. Put it on!"

The green lantern ring seemed to possess a magical power, and Hal was completely captivated by it.

Hearing Abin Sur's guidance, he instinctively reached out his hand.

The lantern ring vibrated slightly in mid-air, automatically flying over and settling onto his hand, the size fitting perfectly.

In that instant, a powerful surge of energy, like a flood, impacted Hal's mind.

He opened his eyes wide, and a green light emerged from them, gradually expanding to fill his entire vision.

The green energy instantly spread throughout his body.

When the green light faded, a green bodysuit enveloped his body.

Hal touched his cheek and found a mask covering his eyes.

Abin Sur nodded in satisfaction, seeing that he had smoothly accepted the Green Lantern energy.

"You are now a Green Lantern, a member of the Universe's protectors."

"The Guardian will send someone to find you. Use… this… lantern ring… flexibly."

After speaking his last words, the light faded from Abin Sur's eyes, and he died.

Hal stood rooted to the spot, somewhat at a loss.

He had received too much information, and his mind was a bit muddled.

But a few seconds later, he heard a beeping sound from the spaceship.

A ridiculous thought flashed through Hal's mind: could this be a time bomb?

No sooner had he thought this than the spaceship exploded with a "boom," and Hal subconsciously raised his arms to protect his head.

Flames instantly engulfed the alien and his body.

A moment later, when Hal opened his eyes again, he found himself flying in the sky.

The huge crater formed by the explosion was beneath his feet, yet he was completely unharmed.

He immediately realized he couldn't stay there any longer; someone would soon come to investigate.

So, he tried an experiment, hoping to fly home.

Immediately, he truly flew towards his home.

At the same time, Umbrella's three satellites also detected an unusual energy signal from an unknown source.

Yes, Umbrella had launched two more satellites during this period.

Moreover, unlike the satellites of Wayne Group or other countries, these two later satellites were primarily used to detect external forces.

Inside the Hall of Justice, Cortana suddenly alerted all Justice League members.

"Emergency Protocol 4: Unknown artificial object has invaded the atmosphere!"

Dane, who was watering flowers with Poison Ivy in the orchard, heard the alarm and immediately headed to the Hall of Justice.

When he arrived, other JLA members were teleporting into the Hall via their teleportation bracelets.

Naturally, everyone had a teleportation bracelet like Damian's, although Damian himself didn't have one now.

He was currently being monitored by Alfred, living the structured life of a normal student.

"What happened?"

Dane looked around; the members who could make it were:

Superman Clark Kent, the idlest person in the World.

He eventually put on the cursed watch under Dane's persuasion, and the effect was outstanding.

However, Dane still had some conscience; the watch's curse was controllable and could be turned off when not needed.

Wonder Woman Diana, she didn't work at night.

Recently, she had been training continuously in the Hall of Justice every night.

Batman, the night was his patrol time.

He seemed to have aged a bit, with some White hairs at his temples.

Jason couldn't come; since Batman was here, Red Hood had to take over his duties.

Constantine was probably drunk and passed out on some nightclub dancer's belly again, so he also didn't show up.

His absence didn't matter; without demons, there was no need to sacrifice him.

Zatanna wanted to come, but Dane talked her out of it.

He probably knew what was happening, and Zatanna likely couldn't help much, so it was fine if she didn't come.

Harley and Poison Ivy were together; he didn't dare let Diana know of her existence.

He was afraid she might slice that crazy beauty with her sword.

The Witch still obediently stayed at the Rock of Eternity, guarding the Base; she was just one step away from becoming a greenhouse maid.

"Cortana detected the visit of an alien life form."

"Are there any video or image records?"

Dane asked Cortana to open the confidential files.

On the large screen, a diamond-shaped spaceship appeared near low Earth orbit.

Cortana continued to zoom in on the image; inside the diamond-shaped spaceship, green light was flashing.

"It really is him."

Dane sighed with emotion, which Batman noticed.

"You know him?" Batman clearly remembered Dane's claim of precognition.

"Yes, if the future hasn't changed."

"Then this spaceship should be the personal vessel of Abin Sur, a member of the Green Lantern Corps."

"The first global crisis is about to begin!"

Dane asked, "Cortana, when is this image from?"

Cortana: "This is from an hour ago."

It takes time for satellites to receive, process, analyze, and then transmit signals to ground Bases; this was already considered fast.

"An hour… So, that means a new green lantern has already been born."

He then turned to look at everyone:

"Who among you would like to come with me to meet this newly appointed green lantern member?"

"Count me in!" Clark was the first to respond, like a primary school student on a spring outing.

"I'll go too." Batman said only this and nothing more.

Diana hesitated for a moment and then said:

"I'll go see too. I heard a Green Lantern visited Earth a long time ago, and I want to see one."

It is said that during the conflict against Darkseid, Green Lantern Alan Scott, displaying universal aid, sacrificed himself on the front line of battle.

His lantern ring has been missing ever since.

The Green Lantern Corps is generally good; although they are meddlesome, most do not rule the various sectors, only maintaining basic order.

Perhaps Umbrella could also use this opportunity to establish contact with some Universe forces?

So Dane nodded.

"Then, let's go!"
