Chapter 82 - Chapter 81 The Idle Hunter

Hector opened those yellow eyes and stared blankly at Amanda.

Suddenly, he sneered, "I know what you want to do, Ms. Waller."

Amanda Waller's gaze sharpened; she hadn't introduced herself.

"Yes, you haven't, Ms. Waller."

"I didn't learn this information from you, or from anyone else's mouth."

Saying this, Hector tapped his temple with his finger.

"It was your brain, your thoughts that told me."

"You can read minds?" Amanda questioned, feeling a little flustered inside.

She knew many secrets that could not be revealed.

Damn it, was this direct meeting too hasty?

Perhaps because she had been mocked by Ra's al Ghul for being timid before, Amanda Waller lost her usual vigilance this time.

Hector savored the fear growing within her, taking a deep breath.

The act of patricide had profoundly changed his mind, allowing him to be completely controlled by the power of the yellow Emotional Spectrum.

It was precisely because of this that his brain connected to another great entity, Parallax.

It had already noticed this Planet.

"It's meaningless now, all of this is meaningless."

Hector's mind was somewhat deranged, which made him look even more terrifying.

"Third kind of contact isn't as beautiful as we imagine, you know that, Ms. Waller?"

"Sometimes those terrible Hollywood directors got it right: when aliens discover our backward Planet, our backward civilization..."

"Why wouldn't they choose to destroy us, instead of helping us?"

Hector gave a tragic laugh: "It's a pity I understood too late, we all understood too late, it's coming!"

Amanda watched the crazed Hector with unease, then walked out of the interrogation room with a heavy heart.

"Madam, what should we do with this prisoner?"

"Keep him in solitary confinement in an isolation room. And, forbid him from contacting anyone."

"Remember, anyone!"

"Yes, Madam."

Dane, who witnessed everything, quickly gathered the members of Justice League; this time, everyone was present.

"Everyone, five years have passed since I first showed you the prophecy."

"This time, the moment of trial has finally arrived!"

Batman spoke first: "Is it the monster you once spoke of, called Parallax?"

In his Batcomputer, all the "prophecies" Dane had revealed were recorded, including those about Green Lantern.

This document clearly stated that the greatest danger in this prophetic event was an alien monster named "Parallax."

"That's right!" Dane nodded.

"Please note, Parallax has an extremely massive body."

"Its sheer size, once it approaches Earth, will inevitably cause extreme changes in the gravitational field."

"This would be a huge disaster for ordinary civilians!"

"Therefore, we had best control the battlefield near low Earth orbit, and if that's not possible, we must control Parallax's landing site to an uninhabited area."

Superman frowned:

"But how do we do that? Besides you, Dane, and Diana, other members do not possess the ability to fight at high altitudes."

"Moreover, the oxygen layer near low Earth orbit is very thin, and cosmic rays are very harmful to people..."

Dane nodded and said, "I've considered all of that, and when I learned that Parallax was about to descend upon Earth, I had Umbrella prepare the necessary combat tools."

Question: How can a technologically backward Earth civilization quickly achieve a technological leap in a short period?

Answer: Materials science.

Just like the Marvel Universe, the DC World is full of all sorts of incredible, illogical magical materials.

For example, eternal metal, and Nth metal.

Among these, eternal metal inherently possesses magic, and weapons crafted from it have extremely superior magical properties.

It is especially useful for mages skilled in spellcasting.

In the Justice League, Zatanna and Constantine are loyal users of eternal metal, with a perfect satisfaction rating.

As for Nth metal, it's funny to say, Dane stole the data for Nth metal from Hawkman's computer.

However, although Carter Hall knew how to use Nth metal, he only had a superficial understanding of its molecular structure and working principles.

It wasn't that he hadn't researched it, but the results were meager, to say the least.

Ultimately, Carter was more accustomed to exploring the secrets of Nth metal from a technological perspective, neglecting its magical properties.

This led him to inevitably fall into a one-sided way of thinking when researching Nth metal.

When Carter was still Prince Khufu of Egypt, he was responsible for studying the physical properties of Nth metal.

The magical properties of Nth metal were handled by the priests around him.

But now, there were no priests to help him fill in the gaps, so he naturally became half-ignorant.

But even so, he still possessed some knowledge that Dane did not.

For example, the replication technology of Nth metal.

Nth metal can be replicated through Nth metal.

Otherwise, with Carter Hall's extravagant usage, even if he had an Nth metal mine, it wouldn't last him a thousand years!

Dane acquired this technology by stealing Hawkman's research data.

He even took advantage of Hawkman's inattention to personally visit his plane and pilfer some screws.

And don't even say it, he really wasn't boasting in the movie; those screws truly were made of Nth metal.

So Umbrella is now able to autonomously produce some Nth metal.

Although the cost is extremely high, and the overall functionality is much lower than true pure Nth metal.

But it is already considered an extremely remarkable achievement in materials science.

Nth metal has a very special property: it can grant the wearer the ability to fly.

This holds significant strategic value in the Justice League.

And eternal metal can be used to develop a Ghost Engine, which has super-acceleration capabilities and can bypass obstacles along the way as if passing through dimensions.

What would happen if the properties of these two metals were combined?

Super-fast flight suits could be realized.

For a long time, Dane and Batman were busy with this, and now some results have been achieved.

"Through the combined efforts of Batman and me, Umbrella has developed a capability for non-flying members to engage in aerial combat."

"However, I still recommend that members without high-strength physiques should stay as far away from the target as possible."

"~Do we need to inform the authorities about this?" Superman hesitated.

Diana shook her head: "I don't think telling them would be useful."

Although she didn't despise humans like her Amazon sisters, she wasn't optimistic about the currently fragmented human factions.

If all humans worldwide could unite, she would undoubtedly support Clark, but for now... she didn't have that kind of faith in humanity.

"We should do this!" Nightwing also arrived at the meeting.

Although his abilities weren't particularly strong, Dane didn't underestimate him because of it.

He still had the opportunity to become a Commander like Batman; no one stipulated that going to the battlefield necessarily meant leading the charge like Clark.

Nightwing had not completely given up on the power of the authorities; he advocated informing the government of the impending crisis.

Barbara also agreed with his opinion.

Batman did not express an opinion; he didn't trust any official organization—no, he didn't trust anyone, official or not.

Moreover, he felt that even if the Justice League reported to the authorities, they would likely be treated as ambitious individuals with ill intentions.

Dane pondered, lost in thought, his fingers tapping lightly on the tabletop, one tap after another.

Everyone waited quietly for his decision.

A moment later, he suddenly stood up. "Speaking of which, we haven't found an opportunity to greet that Martian who holds a high position in the Military."

"What do you all think of this timing?"

He wanted to see if the Martian Manhunter would still choose to slack off at this time.

Just as the Justice League on Earth was discussing how to deal with Parallax, Parallax also sensed the fear energy emanating from Hector.

"Ah, this feeling, it's the energy soft left on Abin Sur!"

It moved its massive body, leaving the Planet it had sucked dry, and headed towards the Milky Way Galaxy.

"I will find you, you damned green lanterns!"

"And, you hypocritical Maltusians!"

It chose not to attack Oa now, because it knew that within the Central Power Battery, there was still a green lantern beast, Ion, present.

Parallax was not confident it could kill it now, so it needed more fear energy.

And Earth, with nearly 7 billion people, could provide a massive amount of fear energy.

It could greatly enhance its power.

Only after it had fully absorbed the life on Earth would it be the optimal time to launch its attack on Oa!
