Chapter 249 - Chapter 248: A Small Upgrade

Deprived of his soul and divine power, Ares's divine body gradually transformed into a stone statue, exquisitely beautiful like a meticulously carved marble sculpture.

Dane felt that this statue alone could fetch a fortune if taken to the human World.

Just for the lychees and eggplants on it, European noblewomen would surely adore it.

A few minutes later, the other members of the Justice League emerged from Hades' palace.

They did nothing to Persephone, as she was not involved in the matter, and she also couldn't step outside her own room.

Barry was the one who discovered this.

He ran so fast that the Lady of the Underworld's room was just a single step for him to cross.

When he ran out of the room and found Persephone hadn't followed, he suspected this possibility.

Then the Justice League decided to leave the Lady of the Underworld alone and pursued Dane in the direction of Ares.

Clark and Hal were fine; they always had confidence in Dane, but Diana couldn't help but worry.

She had already forced information from Persephone that Hades had started a war in Hell; since Hades and Ares were in a cooperative relationship, this war could be considered indirectly instigated by Ares.

In this way, he could extract power from this war, and Diana wasn't sure if Dane could suppress Ares, whose power was constantly increasing.

But when they found Dane, they saw him pointing at a stone statue, as if he was appraising whether it was valuable or not.

"Dane!"

Dane turned his head when he heard the voice, seeing Diana and the others approaching.

The Flash Barry was still the fastest to arrive; with a flash of electricity, his body appeared next to the statue.

"What is this thing?" He then looked around: "Where's that guy named Ares?"

Dane couldn't help but laugh when he heard him say that: "Look at this thing on the ground, doesn't it look familiar?"

Barry looked closely upon hearing this and found the armor and helmet on the statue looked super familiar, just missing an axe.

Barry instantly realized: "This… this guy is that…"

The others finally caught up at this point.

Diana only needed one look to know this was Ares, God of War.

"You've already killed him?" she asked, somewhat surprised.

She didn't know Dane had also robbed Ares of his divine power and soul, and thought Ares had merely temporarily returned to the divine realm.

"Ares can no longer cause us trouble. Have you found Hades?"

"He's leading a large army to Hell," Diana told Dane the news she had gotten from Persephone.

Hell? He's familiar with that territory!

Dane looked at Diana, and just as he was about to say something, she interrupted him.

"I'll go with you!"

She spoke with great determination, an unyielding will, and Dane knew he couldn't change her mind, so he could only nod.

He then shifted his gaze to Clark and Hal.

Hal frowned: "You're not going to try to make me leave, are you? Isn't this matter not over yet?"

Clark's smile was as bright and confident as ever: "How could I be absent at a time like this? And Hal is right, the matter isn't over yet, how can we leave?"

Barry also quietly raised his hand at this moment: "I… I'll go too!"

Little Flash praised him for once: "Good, daring to face difficulties and obstacles, that is the quality a hero should possess."

Dane immediately felt a sense of relief and a special feeling of accomplishment.

"Alright then, this time, let's put an end to this matter once and for all!"

He opened his palm, and an ancient-looking key appeared, glowing with magic. The light expanded, bringing everyone into a certain space.

Before leaving, Dane didn't forget to casually put the statue of the God of War into his storage.

The statue wasn't important, but the God of War's armor on it was a divine artifact. Even if no one used it, it should rot in their own pot!

The Hell Key teleported Dane and his group to Hell. As soon as they arrived, Dane noticed that there were no demons there.

That doesn't make sense, does it?

Dane was a little puzzled. The place he teleported to was Beelzebub's residence, where he had killed him. There should at least be a few demons here.

He immediately used his mind to connect with the two demons who had signed a contract with him previously.

He first contacted Aini.

"Shazam?" Aini was very surprised. This was the first time he had sought it out.

"I've just returned to Hell. What's going on here?"

"I don't see a single demon in Beelzebub's territory. Where are you all?"

Aini immediately told him the current situation: "You're finally back. We've encountered a very powerful enemy, and he's brought an extremely powerful Army."

"Let me guess, Hades?"

"You know?"

Dane had just chased Hades from the Underworld, so of course he knew. But he was curious about something else at the moment.

"How long has Hades been in Hell?"

"It's been almost 30 Human days!" Aini complained, "Berial and I have been trying to contact you, but we haven't been able to."

Dane mused, it seemed the flow of time in the Underworld and Hell was not consistent. Hades had deliberately dragged them there.

"How far has he progressed?"

Aini replied, "More than half of the Demon Lords have already defected to him, and a quarter of the Lords have been eliminated. Now, only we demons are still resisting him."

Dane was a little surprised. Could Aini, with possibly only a quarter of his forces remaining, really withstand Hades's offensive?

Was it really a genius?

But Aini's next words quickly told him otherwise.

"Our strength alone is no match for Hades's. However, we're not the only ones fighting him. There are other forces also battling him."

"Who?"

"Berial and I have observed that those guys are Gods, just like Hades, but they are Gods from the World of Light."

So that's how it is. Hades's actions have attracted the attention of other Gods?

He wondered how many Pantheon Gods would be drawn into this great maelstrom this time.

"Tell me your current location."

Aini quickly reported the location, and Dane immediately took the rest of the Justice League and teleported to Aini's demon camp.

As soon as they appeared, they instantly drew the attention of all the demons.

"Humans?"

A demon took a deep breath, smelled the scent of living humans, and immediately showed a greedy expression.

But before it could do anything, Dane vaporized it with a lightning ray.

Dane calmly dispelled the lightning in his eyes and said to the people beside him, "They are all demons, so don't hesitate when provoked. Just kill them directly, and they will respect you."

Barry was stunned.

But just as he said, after casually killing a Great Demon, Dane and his group were naturally given a path by the demons, leading them directly to Aini and Berial's camp.

When they saw the two familiar demons, Diana was fine; she had already known about this situation.

Clark and Hal almost attacked them.

"Guys, relax a little. We're on the same side now!"

Aini raised its hands in a very human-like gesture. Despite being a Demon Lord, it probably could only beat Barry among these people, and might not even outrun him, so its attitude was extremely amiable.

Berial had the demeanor of a high-ranking demon, ignoring everyone, and only showing a slight respect when he saw Dane.

Dane explained to Clark, Hal, and Barry, who were still unaware of the truth, "After the demon incident ended, I pacified them, and now they work for me."

"Can you completely control them?"

"No one can completely control a person's will, Clark."

Not even the anti-life equation is guaranteed to work every time.

"However, under the constraints of the contract, they are temporarily trustworthy."

Clark didn't trust demons, but he chose to trust Dane.

The Justice League and others entered the demon's command center, and their first glance stunned them.

Everything they had seen on their way in was in a very ancient medieval style. Even if there were one or two demons that looked avant-garde, it didn't change this style.

But now, walking into this command room, they truly had a sense of déjà vu, as if they had returned to the Real World. It was actually in a normal, modern style.

There were data clerks, maps, combat screens, and sand tables—everything was no different from the Real World.

Hal didn't care about others; he was just numb.

His stiff neck creaked as he turned to look at Dane.

Dane said casually, "I made a small upgrade to their combat methods..."
