While the other members of the Justice League and the Parademons were engaged in a fierce battle, Dane chased Steppenwolf all the way to Siberia.
Steppenwolf didn't directly teleport into Savage's underground Base. He was worried Shazam would crush him instantly, and then what about the Doomsday Army?
He hadn't obtained the anti-life equation yet, so he still needed that primitive man.
Moreover, he believed that by the time he arrived here, Savage must have already seen the situation, and if he had any sense, he would know what to do now.
Savage, as Steppenwolf expected, already knew of his and Shazam's arrival.
When he saw Shazam standing behind Steppenwolf, a curse word immediately escaped his lips: "What. The. Fuck?"
Cooperation is one thing, but what's the meaning of bringing Shazam here?
It must be said that Steppenwolf's move was completely unexpected by Savage. Operating behind the scenes was his style; direct combat... he would be killed by Shazam in an instant!
Therefore, seeing Steppenwolf still looking at the ground as if searching for something, Savage, despite feeling as disgusted as if he had eaten excrement, immediately ordered his subordinates:
"Quick! Activate the Tower of Babel project!"
Originally, this project was meant to be launched much later. Savage had planned it with the intention of having everyone perish together.
But who would have thought that there was still one day left before the time Steppenwolf promised, and such a mishap occurred… Hmm? Thinking of this, Savage suddenly suspected, was it possible that the time Steppenwolf told him was completely wrong? Was the actual time needed for the mother box to be today?
"This untrustworthy bastard!" Savage cursed, being very hypocritical.
While he was pondering here, his subordinates had already activated the "Tower of Babel" project as he commanded.
Unlike in the animated movie Justice League: Doom, because Batman hadn't found an effective way to deal with Shazam, and his research on Kryptonian was still classified, Savage couldn't get his hands on it.
If he couldn't handle these two core members of the Justice League, it would be meaningless for Savage to deal with the others, as both Shazam and Superman had the power to turn the tide.
So this "Tower of Babel" was not a personalized plan targeting each member.
The current "Tower of Babel" project was Savage's plan to ascend to supremacy, an invincible biological weapon composed of a thousand Doomsday.
A thousand?
They were already enough to destroy any known civilization in this Universe, even Kryptonian!
Outside Savage's Base, Dane had already launched an attack on Steppenwolf.
He pulled out Ares's axe from his inventory, and with a flash of electricity, he brought the axe down.
Steppenwolf quickly raised his war axe to block it.
With a loud clang, Steppenwolf's divine power clashed with Dane's Old Gods power, blowing open the surrounding snow and directly revealing the Base's main gate below.
This sparked Dane's curiosity.
"Oh? What is this?" he asked in puzzlement.
Then the steel gate arched upwards, the door broke open, and a figure very familiar to Dane leaped out—another Doomsday.
Dane suspected he had poked a hornet's nest, because behind the Doomsday, he saw many more Doomsday.
It turned out Steppenwolf had hidden them all here. Dane was somewhat surprised; he had thought Steppenwolf would hide them on other Planets or in space flagships, not in such a place.
As soon as the Doomsday leaped out of the Base laboratory, they charged straight at Dane. Their biological nature compelled them to prioritize killing the creatures most threatening to them, and Dane perfectly fit that description.
But it wasn't just him; Steppenwolf also received the same treatment. He quickly retreated, dodging an attack from one of the Doomsday.
They were still in their nascent state, incomparable to the one in St. Roch.
But Siberia was currently in daytime. Even though the Sun was mostly obscured by clouds, the Doomsday still grew stronger at the fastest rate.
Dane immediately realized that these Doomsday were indiscriminate in their attacks.
So when they emerged from the Base, they chose to attack him and Steppenwolf because they were the only two threatening creatures present.
But would Dane let the instigator hide in the underground Base and watch the show so easily?
So he stomped his foot, raised his hand in an upward gesture, and the ground shook. magic, obedient to Dane's will, spread into the earth beneath his feet.
It enveloped the ground around Dane, directly pulling the underground Base upwards, causing it to rise.
Savage, inside the Base, suddenly lost his footing as he and the entire Base he was in were pulled to the surface by Dane's magic.
Dane had never used this kind of magic before, so much so that Savage was momentarily too shocked to speak.
Although Dane had always preferred to use physical abilities, a simpler and more direct power, he hadn't forgotten that he was a magic God, and his study of magic had never ceased.
It might be hard to say against deities, but against some primitive people who had rarely witnessed the power of magic, it was effortless.
Savage was completely unable to make any effective response to Dane's mountain-moving magic, and was directly dragged by him into the center of the battlefield, not only exposed to the sun but also to all the Doomsdays.
They sensed the presence of living beings inside the giant Base, and one by one, they tore through the steel shell of the Base and rushed in, killing anyone they saw!
Seeing that this Base had temporarily attracted some attention, Dane immediately rushed towards Steppenwolf to prevent him from continuing to use the mother box's power to escape.
He swung his axe again at Steppenwolf's battle-axe, and with his other hand, he conjured snowballs from the ground, hitting Steppenwolf in the face.
Don't dismiss this move as childish; it actually worked wonders when it came out of nowhere.
Steppenwolf had not expected Shazam to use such a trick, so he was caught off guard and actually fell for it, losing his vision for a moment.
And that moment was enough for Dane to continue his attack; he rotated his battle-axe to hook Steppenwolf's axe upwards, leaving him exposed, and then a lightning-infused fist smashed directly into Steppenwolf's face.
If you're going to hit, hit where it hurts. Of all his active metal armor, only his face was completely unprotected. Where else would he hit?
Thus, Steppenwolf flew backward, his head twisted to one side, and he spat out several pointed teeth.
However, even while being beaten, Steppenwolf did not forget to issue commands to the mother box.
So, before he even landed, a Boom Tube appeared above them again, engulfing the entire battlefield.
"Are you only capable of this one trick?" Dane had just asked this when he suddenly felt something was amiss.
The range of this Boom Tube was too wide; it completely enveloped all of them, including the Base, which Dane still didn't know who it belonged to.
Amidst the characteristic hum of the Boom Tube, everything on the field instantly vanished, leaving nothing but a giant crater.
Inside the Boom Tube, Dane flew forward and grabbed Steppenwolf, holding him tightly between his arms.
After exiting the passage, below them was another completely unfamiliar place, and more than a dozen Doomsdays also emerged from the passage they had come through.
As for the rest, they were nowhere to be seen.
Steppenwolf laughed heartily in Dane's confinement: "Those cloned monsters have all been sent to different places. You guys, who call yourselves heroes, are you going to stand by and watch innocent civilians get killed by monsters?"
This was also why Dane knew Steppenwolf was in the laboratory before but had not taken action.
After all, he didn't know where Steppenwolf would unleash these guys.
Coupled with the fact that the World's networks were controlled by the mother box at the time, Cortana couldn't expand her dream, nor could she track the movements of those Doomsdays. Rushing into battle could very likely lead to even more unpredictable consequences.
Doomsday spores are disgusting. He wouldn't take action until he was absolutely sure.
But now the "Iron Curtain" had been lifted, and Cortana's abilities were completely unleashed. He wanted to use this to release a World-encompassing dream, bringing everyone into it.
This was not easy; even Cortana's abilities would struggle to achieve global coverage, so she still needed a little help.
So Dane connected with Victor Stone: "Victor, now is the time for you to use your power!".
