Soon after, in a remote cabin in a town in America.
It was nighttime, and only a small candle was lit in the remote cabin, its flickering light falling on the faces of the two people inside.
"This incident has gotten a bit out of hand," said S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury, whose one eye was covered by an eyepatch, as he looked at the person in front of him.
"We need to assemble the Avengers quickly."
"So, who are your candidates?" The man sitting opposite Nick Fury had the typical face of a middle-aged, overweight White male, showing no signs of any Agent training.
"Tony Stark is one, and there's Agent Barton, Agent Romanoff, Bruce Banner, and as for the leader, I plan to have Captain America Steve Rogers, who was just salvaged not long ago, take on the role."
Nick Fury recited each name until he spoke one that made the White male opposite him react.
"And there's one more candidate... Ailer Hestia."
"Him?" The White male straightened up and immediately pressed, "He's just an ordinary person, how did you choose him to be a member of a superhuman soldier squad?"
"He has potential," Nick Fury said with a half-joking tone. "If you think a high school student can single-handedly take down twenty armed adults, then I'll delete his name."
From Nick Fury's words, it could be heard that Ailer, in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s files, was still an ordinary person, just very potential.
Upon hearing this, the White male's face showed displeasure, and he said directly, "I cannot involve the descendants of Project Pegasus researchers, Nick, I can't do it."
"You think it'll be fine if you don't involve him?" Nick Fury frowned and retorted,
"Do you really think that if these people aren't involved, the people related to Project Pegasus will be safe? Talos, for years, many people have tried to get their hands on the Project Pegasus list, even your own people!"
Upon hearing this, the facial features of the White man named Talos shifted, eventually transforming into a humanoid creature with a green reptilian face.
This was Talos's true appearance; he was a Skrull from the Andromeda Galaxy, possessing the ability to freely change his appearance. He later fled to Earth due to persecution by the Kree Empire and now works for S.H.I.E.L.D. in exchange for a chance at survival.
In the last century, humanity discovered a special energy entity, later called the Tesseract, which contained terrifyingly powerful energy.
After some twists and turns, the Tesseract fell into the hands of America, and so, the U.S. Military wanted to use it to research a faster-than-light engine, a project also known as [Project Pegasus].
However, humanity at that time could not fully master this power, and a small portion of its results were obtained with the help of a Kree scientist named Mar-Vell.
The Kree scientist named Mar-Vell was kind-hearted and couldn't bear her own people's unreasonable aggression towards the Skrulls, so she took the opportunity to come to Earth and use the resources of Project Pegasus to quietly rescue a group of Skrulls.
This group of Skrulls included Talos's relatives, so Talos was very grateful to the former researchers of Project Pegasus.
Ailer's parents were both former Project Pegasus researchers, but his father died in an accident, instantly obliterated by the Tesseract, leaving no trace of his body. Later, Ailer's mother gave birth to him alone.
Perhaps due to the Tesseract's energy influence, Ailer, while still in his mother's womb, possessed talent with great potential among all humanity, and it was precisely for this reason that Nick Fury set his sights on him.
"I knew those guys wouldn't be satisfied." Talos looked troubled, seemingly indicating some internal discord within the Skrulls.
"They are just minor issues." Nick Fury shook his head, then leaned back in his chair, saying with some vexation:
"The key is that over these many years, I've increasingly felt there's an organization in the shadows of this World working against us. That child's mother might have died at the hands of those guys; he needs the power to protect himself."
"I will try to contact him. He can become a warrior who can protect himself, but he will absolutely not become an employee of S.H.I.E.L.D.!" Talos said firmly.
Having worked for S.H.I.E.L.D. for so many years, Talos was very clear about the nature of this organization, so he was very unwilling to see someone he cared about join S.H.I.E.L.D.
"No problem," Nick Fury said confidently.
................
At the same time, in a completely dark room, Dr. Samuel Stern, whose entire head had become enormous, opened his eyes. His first sensation was a headache, but what followed was exhilaration; he felt his brain's capabilities had improved by leaps and bounds, and his mind could store more knowledge.
Stern looked around, and after some observation, he found himself lying on a large bed, and the surrounding decor was very luxurious, like a presidential suite.
"It seems you've rested well, Dr. Stern."
Just then, a very polite voice sounded in Stern's ear.
Stern looked in the direction of the voice and saw a neatly dressed White man with completely white hair, but whose face was still as taut as a young man's, looking at him.
Stern sat up, "May I ask who you are?"
"You can call me Daniel Whitehall." The white-haired man smiled slightly; his smile was quite infectious, giving off a very comfortable feeling.
"Mr. Whitehall, may I ask if you need something from me?" Stern knew that if he continued to stay at the university, he would definitely not have a good outcome. Since this person in front of him had a request, he would go along with it.
"We need your intelligence, and a little bit of your achievements." Whitehall said with a smile as he handed over a file.
"What is this?" Stern took the file and began to read it.
[Locust Cyborg (Severe Accident)]
[Bat Cyborg (Failure)]
[Spider Cyborg (Failure)]
[Wasp Cyborg (Success)]
"These are some of our experiences in promoting human evolution," Whitehall said.
"We need your wisdom. I believe your wisdom can help humanity take another step on the path to godhood."
"Godhood?" Whitehall's words seemed to have a magical power, making Stern repeat the phrase continuously. After a while, Stern came back to his senses and asked:
"Then what kind of organization are you?"
"I think you should have heard our name in history books." Whitehall's face was full of smiles. "Our name is... HYDRA!"
