When I come home to find Colson waiting for me in the living room, furious, I'm scared out of my bones, I can't lie.
For some moments, I forget the decision I'd taken about not bending to their will anymore. My body acts on its own, registering the familiar fear it's used to.
The instant I walk in through that door, Colson's face turns terrifying grim as he snaps to his feet.
"Leiara!" He growls lowly, tone thick and gripping.
My breath hitches in response, eyes wide in fear and shock.
But I sink into more despair when Colson lashes out and grabs me roughly by the arm, yanking me to himself.
"Oww!" I let out, shrinking back as I quiver.
I expected him to manhandle me as usual, but when I cry out in pain, I catch him freeze then he instantly withdraws his hand.
It's a bit surprising to me as this is something new. That he would free me when he realizes I'm in pain, I never expected it.
