In front of the inn somewhere in the south part of the town, two ranger knights stepped out of the stone building into the muddy street with some fearful townspeople in the surrounding area currently looking towards the north district, where high-status and rich people live, as many black smoke trails could be seen rising high into the sky along with the constant yelling and shouting, like there's actually a war going on in the town.
Everything is happening so abruptly that many are left standing around on the streets in confusion and don't know what to do, while some town guards in cheap-looking leather armor hurriedly run past the townspeople on the streets to the north of the town, where the commotion is going on, with their spears in their hands.
After the two knights stood on the muddy road, Zarba and Xin, with their black cloaks and hoods on, walked out of the inn next as they followed the two knights out of the building, with the other two knights following closely behind them before they turned and headed to the east gate of the town while some people made way for them and some got pushed aside by the summoned units as they cursed quietly at Zarba's group but didn't dare to do anything else, as the group seemed like high-status and powerful people.
'We should be able to get out quickly if the rebels have not barred the gate yet.' Zarba thought while glancing around with vigilance as they walked through the street, while the other people who were not part of the rebels finally realized what was going on and hurriedly went inside their respective homes or found nearby buildings to hide in, as the noises of the fighting between the rebels and town guards could be heard faintly even from here.
'Too bad that the early peasant and slave revolt is not really explored in detail in the game.' Zarba felt a bit helpless from the lack of meta knowledge, as the game only focused on the double rebellions stuff when many towns were already being occupied by the rebels, and the game protagonist had to go and solve all their problems one by one to dissolve the rebellions.
As for the reasons they are revolting, it is not really complicated: just too damn high taxes and too damn many corrupt nobles and people in power, while the slaves just want freedom to starve like common beggars and escape from their abusive masters.
Zarba thinks that they have a legit reason to revolt, so he doesn't really care if they want to kill corrupt nobles and whatnot, but the rebels are also not entirely righteous either, as some of the people from the rebel force are also trying to take advantage of the situation and let their devil out to play…
'Half of them are acting just like bandits in the game.' Zarba scoffs at their hypocrisy while some town guards run past their group without troubling them after they glance at the four black knights, who obviously do not look like rebels as they escort two cloaked individuals that seem to be of high status away from the north district.
"It doesn't look like we will have trouble getting out of the town, does it, my husband?" Xin whisper to Zarba as she jumped over the muddy puddle on the ground.
"I sure hope so…" Zarba muttered while he already half expected some kind of encounter when they arrived at the town gate. Considering his luck so far, he is pretty sure they will have to fight their way out.

On the east gate of Riverylove, just like Zarba had suspected, a battle had already started as hundreds of mercenaries, wearing all kinds of armor and wielding various weapons, charged excitedly with a loud roar at the panicked town guards, who were sloppily forming a spear wall as they braced themselves for the inevitable clash while they didn't even have half of their enemies' numbers.
"Crush them quickly!" The one who seemed to be the mercenaries' leader, a bald armored brute with a black eye patch on his left eye and a scar running along his forehead down to his left eye, was shouting orders from behind the mercenaries as he pointed his double-bladed axe at the formation of the town guards.
"Hahaha, what a delicious opportunity…!" The one-eyed brute laughs as he watches the mercenaries finally clashing with the guards and visibly overwhelming them with sheer numbers and intensity. The one-eyed brute never thought that one day his chance to get rich quick would suddenly land right on top of his lap as he got invited to join the revolt by the rebels.
'I will use this rebellion to the fullest and become so filthy rich…!' The bald man, or what he knows as Larjen, grinned with obvious greed in his remaining blue eye as he joined the fight later when the victory was already assured.
Larjen doesn't really care about the rebellion, as he is just a mercenary captain with a small mercenary company of a hundred men. His plan is quite simple since he can just take advantage of the chaos and plunder everything he and his men can and quickly get the hell out of Riverylove with the loot like a thief.
No matter the outcome of this revolt, Larjen and his company are not going to wait around and find out since they should be long gone by then, as there's no way in hell he would become a soldier for these peasants to fight with the nobles.
After just ten minutes of fighting, the guards' bodies began to litter the muddy ground as the screams and clang of steel gradually faded while the town guards fell back to the gate as they desperately tried to keep the mercenaries at bay with their spears.
The mercenaries didn't let up their assault as they pushed forward to the guards even more aggressively, since their goal here was to seal all gates of the town and trap everyone inside until the rebellion succeeded… or failed.
And when the gate is captured, Larjen will then leave the mercenaries that are not with him to guard the gate while he goes on a looting spree with his men in the town, as while the town guards are busy at the north district, the defenseless townspeople are such easy picking.
Amidst the fighting between the mercenaries and town guards, there is one particular figure, a tall and muscular brown-skinned woman in what you could call bikini armor, walking forward to the frontline before she swings her great sword in a large swipe that cuts through three town guards' torsos in a spray of crimson with such ease that it looks like a hot knife cutting through butter.
The woman's bloodied blade struck the muddy ground with a wet splash as the fighting abruptly stopped around her because of her superhuman feat while all the people turned to look at her in disbelief. They never expect that there's such a strong individual among them.
Under the astonishing gaze of many people, the woman just ignored them and pulled out her sword from the ground and continued to move forward to the group of faltering town guards, who stepped backward fearfully. They are very scared, as to fight with such a monster is beyond their ability.
"F-Fuck, it's a Great Warrior, we can't win!" One of the town guards cried out in fear as he turned tail and ran away without hesitation before the rest of the guards also followed suit, abandoning their posts as they fled from the female mercenary, who could swing her big sword around like a toy and cut through men like wheat. She basically drove her enemies away with just her display of superhuman strength.
Seeing that her enemies have chosen their lives and escaped, the woman swings her sword to the side to get rid of the blood before she walks back to the crowd of mercenaries, who open the way for her while they mutter "Great Warrior" as they look at her with fear and awe. It's not every day that they could see such a powerhouse in action.
"H-Hahaha, the east gate is ours now! Go close it down, you bastards!" Larjen bellowed triumphantly after he finally calmed down from his astonishment of seeing a great warrior for the first time, while his voice managed to wake up the others as they resumed their job.
'I better leave that bitch alone…' Larjen thought as he looked at the great female warrior with caution while the mercenaries surged forward, sealing the heavy wooden gates with a resounding thud while they spread out to form a makeshift barricade of broken carts, barrels, and whatever they could find.
The female mercenary, who was called a great warrior by everyone, just watched everything silently as she leaned against the nearby wall of the building not far away from the gate; her motive was still unknown to the mercenaries as to why she chose to participate in this rebellion, but they were not going to complain since she was on their side.
"Alright, you bastards, stay here and guard the gate. I and my men will go help the rebels in the north district!" After everything was set, Larjen then ordered the other mercenaries to stay at the gate as he quickly went away with his men to loot, not even glancing at the woman in bikini armor or bothering to explain anything.
And fortunately for Larjen and his company, their chosen road is not on the route towards Zarba; otherwise, they might not be able to live for long…
