Chapter 13 - Book of Knowledge.

Bang!

With a swing from the hammer, the lock on the roller shutter shattered into two pieces, generating a clanging sound as the two metallic objects hit the tiles a foot away.

Pulling the roller shutter up, Naib sight was instantly greeted by the glass wall, followed by the shelves inside, which were filled with medicine.

Furthermore, upon looking at the glass door on the side, he noticed that there was no lock in it, making him heave a sigh of relief as he immediately entered the place.

"This..."

However, much to their surprise, after entering the place, the group noticed that, other than the stacks of medicines on the shelves of the drugstore, there was also a shelf filled with food and clean water in the corner of the place, especially biscuits, snacks, and oatmeal.

Just by estimating their number, Naib could tell that if they rationed them carefully, the food could last them for 1 to 2 months!

"Great, we don't have to rush toward the grocery store to loot for food; we can rest here for 15 hours before going there to join the trial."

With a faint smile appearing on Naib's face, the three immediately distributed the goods equally among themselves, filling their inventory by 2/3 before they stopped.

Although there are still foods on the shelves, the three cleverly decided not to shove them in their inventory; instead, they plan to fill up the rest of the empty space with the medicines around them—allowing them to avoid unnecessary problems in the future.

But, before that, Naib and Hans decided to treat the wounds on Jerome's thigh.

"Ahh, Mama!"

"F*ck, can you shut up a little bit? We're just treating your shallow wounds, yet you're already crying like a girl!"

"Damn you. Why would you use alcohol instead of iodine compounds? Don't you know how painful it was!?"

"Heh, you've been drinking alcohol like there's no tomorrow in the past, yet putting it on your wounds makes you shriek like a female seeing a cockroach?"

Soon, after cleaning and bandaging the wounds of aggrieved Jerome, Naib let the two have their rest first, planning to switch with them in 6 hours so they could all have their sleep.

Seeing the two move toward the corner of the room, Naib sat at the plastic chair near the entrance of the place, glancing at the still gloomy outside that was starting to light up, before taking out a reward from the panel that he got earlier.

"Book of Knowledge Volume 1."

Uttering the title of the book, Naib caresses the rough surface of the book, looking at the illustration on its cover before opening it.

[ The origin of devils, gods, and entities is unknown. No one knows how they came to be or how long they have been existing. The only thing humans know is that they have long appeared before them... ]

Pausing for a while to process the information, Naib then continued.

[ In the past, they had been walking the land unhindered, following their desires and bringing forth countless calamities in the world...

[ Life forms tremble under their might as they become treated as livestock used as food or to increase their strength... However, after an unknown period of time, the Devils, Gods, and Entities suddenly vanished in the face of the world without any notice.

[ But... despite their sudden disappearance, it's believed that they will come back someday to bring forth misery to anyone. ]

Flipping through another page, Naib continued.

( Devils, gods, and entity threats were ranked into different tiers, with F as the lowest and A as the highest. Between those tiers, it's further divided into 4 small tiers, known as Low, Mid, High, and Peak.

F-grade rank entities' threat was within human capabilities. However, the higher their rank was, the stranger and stronger their capabilities would be.

If F-rank entities' strength was within human limits, then E and D rank entities had already begun showing transcendence. Allowing them to kill dozens or hundreds in a short period of time.)

Falling into deep thought upon reading that the F-grade entity's strength was the weakest—causing him to imagine what kind of horrors those E- and D-rank entities have—Naib then flipped to the next page, only to see a familiar illustration of the "Tsanak" on the first page.

[ Name: Tsanak

Initial Treat Level: Low to Mid-F grade

Origin Introduction: Usually, a newborn child who had been abandoned or left alone to die in the wild. With enough coincidences, their spirit filled with hatred might transform them into Tsanak, whose sole purpose was to kill.

Most Skill Tsanak Have: Beguiled Cry (common), Innocent Charm (common), Hard Skin (common). ]

[ Beguiled Cry: Uttering a cry that could both beguile the victim's mind to gain their sympathy or momentarily stun them, effects related to the victim's spirit. ]

[ Innocent Charm: A skill often used by tsanak to lure their victim. Using this allowed them to transform into an innocent infant without traces of evil energy on their body. ]

[ Hard Skin: Skin as hard as ice. ]

...

"Are these skills only common?"

Seeing the Tsanak information, Naib unexpectedly found out that those skills that had greatly troubled them earlier were only common skills.

A skill that almost killed them was actually only a common one in those being standards?!

If these are only common skills, then what kind of abilities do those skills above the common ones have? Could they directly kill a being?

Just thinking of it, Naib's blood couldn't help but turn cold, chills creeping up his skin as he vowed that he wouldn't accept any E or D grade trials without gaining sufficient strength.

"No, to make it safe, I wouldn't accept any E or D grade trials without unlocking my curse item."

Soon, upon imprinting the Tsanak's information deep within his mind, Naib then flipped the paper to the next page, reading every page with seriousness, too absorbed that he hadn't noticed that two people had unknowingly arrived in front of the drugstore.

(Author Note: Whoa, this is the 13th chapter of the book. Like Friday the 13th, the book's future looks bleak; however, despite that, I'm greatly enjoying writing this book. I guess I'll treat it as me getting experience.)
