Chapter 29 - “Advisor” Candidate

Truthfully, Renjiro had never intended to let the Guild assign him a Dungeon Exploration Advisor.

After all, just as his method of leveling up through Great Feats wasn't something ordinary adventurers could even attempt, so too were the bulk of the Guild's hard-earned, centuries-old adventurer guidelines useless to him.

The clearest example?

"Adventurers must never take risks."

It wasn't that the phrase was wrong. The Guild had coined it for the sake of Orario's overall safety and stability. It has saved countless lives by discouraging reckless behavior.

But Renjiro knew the truth behind the curtain.

With the pressure of the looming Promised Day, I simply can't afford the life of a carefree salted fish.

The moment he appeared, the world's future trajectory might already have shifted.

Take the Red-Eyed Rabbit youth, the one most likely to someday slay the One-Eyed Black Dragon. Even in the original path, every step of his journey had been life-or-death.

If that boy falters or dies prematurely… what then? Am I supposed to just take my hands off the keyboard and watch the world burn?

No.

He had no interest in placing his fate in someone else's hands.

Thus, he considered the Guild's Dungeon Advisors more a hindrance than help. He had no desire to argue with a stranger if their opinions clashed. Why waste both time and good mood?

Yet now…

Maybe having someone to streamline the exchange process wouldn't be so bad?

From that perspective, I'll just need to pick someone… with no real opinions of their own.

While the Guild staff scrambled to process his mountain of magic stones, Renjiro (Aether) and Lumine crossed the main hall, every eye in the room following them, and headed toward the reception counter near the main entrance.

Three staffers were still on duty there.

Aether's eyes swept over them.

First: a brown-haired human male, early twenties.

…Immediate pass. Sorry, if I'm getting a personal advisor, she's at least got to be a pleasant voice and easy on the eyes.

(Also, the way that guy was staring at Lumine… with a blush like a boiling teapot… I have to restrain the sudden urge to stab him full of ventilation holes.)

Deep breath. Calm. Move on.

Next: a brunette half-elf girl with emerald eyes.

Wait… isn't that the very one who, in the future, takes care of Bell Cranel?

Her name surfaced in his memory, Eina Tulle.

Nineteen years old. Dignified looks, graceful figure, diligent worker, renowned across the Guild and among gods and adventurers alike. Her popularity was sky-high. Her voice even reminded him of a certain famous VA…

But,

"Adventurers must never take risks."

Yes, that was her famous line, repeated throughout the main story. Kind and dependable she might be, but she was far too opinionated.

Friend? Yes. Advisor? No thanks.

Finally, the third.

A pink-haired girl with shoulder-length, slightly wavy hair. Currently fumbling through some paperwork for a nervous adventurer at the counter, a bit clumsy, but earnest.

The moment he laid eyes on her, Perfect. That's the one.

She fit the "not opinionated" requirement like a glove.

Right then, from the exchange counter behind them,

"All tallied!"

The clerk announced the total to Lumine.

"Miss, that comes to 19,537,260 valis."

The voice wasn't loud, but adventurers' hearing far surpassed ordinary folk.

Gasps rippled through the hall.

"Nearly… nearly twenty million valis?!"

"They've only been in the Dungeon for, what, four days?"

"As expected of Freya Familia's super rookies…"

"I can't wait to see what titles the gods give them!"

Fame brought both blessings and curses.

On one hand, far fewer dared harbor ill intent. On the other,

All these eyes glued to us, whispers everywhere… Feels like we walked onto the set of some trashy soap opera.

Aether grumbled internally, resisting the urge to roll his eyes.

Focus.

Seeing the pink-haired girl finish with her last client, he and Lumine stepped up together.

"Excuse me, we'd like to apply for a Dungeon Exploration Advisor."

================

Half an Hour Later

Leaving the Guild with a small sack of gold coins, the duo had completed all their tasks.

The pink-haired girl, Misha Flott, was now the official Advisor of the Traveler Twins.

A cushy assignment, envied by many colleagues. After all, becoming the advisor of rookies with limitless potential guaranteed no shortage of future perks.

Even just being on speaking terms with such super rookies was a massive asset in Orario, a city teeming with trouble and harassment, even for Guild staff, male and female alike.

Connections were priceless.

Though less capable than Eina, Misha's greatest strength was simple: she listened.

Her first task? Opening personal vaults for both Aether and Lumine.

Because honestly, nearly twenty million valis in raw coin would fill an entire sack. Were they supposed to play Santa Claus every time they shopped? Ridiculous.

Vaults and checks were the proper way to handle high-value transactions.

Now, walking side by side along Orario's western avenue, the siblings spoke through their mental link:

"We've got money. We've got an advisor."

"Next up, let's buy the Fire-Sprite Weave Mantles, then swing by the Dian Cecht Familia's potion shop. Once we're properly prepared, we dive again. This time… we don't come out until we're all Lv.20."
