Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: Falling Meteor! Kenpachi Zaraki, the Savior!

"Huh?"

"No way…"

"He's… completely unscathed?"

"That's impossible! That was Kenpachi Zaraki's slash! The King of Pure Strikes doesn't play around!"

"How could that Quincy take such a hit without even flinching!?"

For a brief moment—

the entire Soul Society erupted in shock.

Everyone stared, dumbfounded, at what they had just seen:

Gremmy Thoumeaux, the so-called "Imagination Quincy," had just ignored Zaraki's blade.

Ever since this ranking started playing,

every swing from Kenpachi's chipped, jagged Zanpakutō had torn through captains and Espada alike—

no one had survived a direct hit.

So when he swung again,

the entire audience assumed Gremmy would be cut clean in half.

But instead…

the impossible happened.

No one—other than the Sternritter themselves—could have imagined this outcome.

"Nnoitra…"

"Looks like you've been slapped in the face again,"

Grimmjow sneered, throwing a sideways glance.

He was just getting started with his mockery when he realized—

Nnoitra didn't even respond.

The former Espada stood frozen, jaw slack, eyes bulging as if they might pop out of his skull.

What he had just witnessed shattered what little pride he had left.

Once, Nnoitra's greatest boast had been his Hierro—the strongest steel skin among the Espada.

He had never stopped bragging about it.

He truly believed that no blade in existence could pierce him.

But now…

in this one scene, that pride was obliterated.

First, in an earlier future segment, he'd been one-shotted by Zaraki's two-handed strike.

And now—

some Quincy boy, just standing there motionless,

had a body harder than his Hierro by a thousandfold.

Even Kenpachi's direct blow couldn't leave a mark.

Watching that,

Nnoitra's very soul cracked.

He didn't even need mockery—his ego had already self-destructed.

"What kind of power is that?"

"These pure-blooded Quincies… they're each more terrifying than the last,"

Szayelaporro gritted out, scowling beneath his half-mask.

For someone who prided himself on his superior intellect,

not understanding Gremmy's ability gnawed at him like a disease.

He could only mutter through clenched teeth:

"Damn it… these Quincies make even Hollows look primitive."

Meanwhile, in the video—

"If one strike isn't enough," Zaraki smirked, "then I'll just keep swinging."

"All my enemies have fallen that way before."

His grin widened with excitement;

the stronger his opponent, the wilder his fighting spirit burned.

With a roar,

he lunged forward again—

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

Each blow tore the air apart,

and finally, the sword tip grazed Gremmy's shoulder, drawing a thin line of blood.

"Ha! So I can cut you after all," Zaraki laughed.

"I almost thought you were invincible, Quincy!"

Inside the 6th Division barracks,

Renji Abarai exhaled in relief, wiping sweat from his brow.

"Thank goodness… I thought his cuts weren't working at all."

As another melee-type sword user,

the idea that Kenpachi's blade couldn't bite into someone made him uneasy.

If Kenpachi couldn't cut him,

then what chance did his Zabimaru have?

But his relief didn't last long.

Because the next thing he saw left him pale—

Gremmy smiled faintly,

and the wound on his shoulder began to heal before their eyes.

The skin smoothed over, the blood vanished—

as though nothing had happened.

"You… can heal yourself that fast?" Kenpachi frowned.

"Don't look so surprised," Gremmy said lightly,

his hands tucked in his pockets.

"I simply imagined that the wound no longer existed. And so—it didn't."

The calm tone, the unbothered smile—

and yet his words rippled through the worlds like thunder.

"What!?"

"Just… imagining it makes the wound disappear!?"

In the 4th Division, Kotetsu Isane clapped her hand over her mouth in shock.

She'd spent her entire career perfecting healing kido—

and now this boy erased injuries by thinking.

Her medical worldview shattered on the spot.

Even Unohana, who sat quietly beside her,

did not speak.

For once, the first Kenpachi's eyes grew grave.

Even she—who had lived for centuries and seen every battle art imaginable—

could not fully comprehend the scope of Gremmy's "imagination."

It wasn't regeneration.

It was rewriting reality.

The realization chilled even her.

Zaraki's opponent this time was not just strong—

he was transcendent.

The video continued.

BOOM!

Without even moving,

Gremmy lifted a hand—

and behind him, countless cannons of molten magma erupted from thin air!

Then, with another wave,

a vast ocean materialized out of nowhere, flooding the sky itself.

Kenpachi, caught mid-leap,

was engulfed, dragged downward into the abyssal pit Gremmy had imagined into existence.

In an instant, the beast of the 11th Division vanished beneath the collapsing chasm.

The whole sequence lasted mere seconds.

By the time anyone could process it—

Kenpachi was gone.

All that remained was Gremmy,

hands still in his pockets,

smiling as magma and seawater clashed behind him,

painting the scene in apocalyptic hues.

The sight left the entire audience breathless.

"So strong…"

"He can create anything he imagines?"

"He's even more of a monster than Kenpachi himself!"

"Could this guy actually be the strongest Quincy?"

In Urahara's shop,

Yoruichi crossed her arms, her brows drawn tight.

"Magma, seawater, gravitational collapse… this kid's imagination knows no bounds."

Urahara adjusted his hat, speaking softly:

"The Quincy Schrift powers are terrifying indeed.

Each one breaks the rules of battle in its own way."

He sighed with admiration.

"As a scientist, I can't deny it—this boy's imagination is beyond me."

"Still…"

Tessai frowned.

"What if… Kenpachi's really gone this time?"

But just as he said that—

BOOOOOM!

A roar split the screen.

From deep underground,

Kenpachi burst free,

his sword gleaming, his grin wild.

The ground quaked as he swung—

and with one mighty strike,

he cleaved apart nearly a third of the colossal rock stage!

Dust and spiritual shockwaves filled the screen.

Gremmy's figure vanished beneath the rubble.

The tide had turned again.

The monster was back.

"What an insane battle…"

"Both sides are monsters. This isn't even a fight—it's a collision of nightmares."

In the 5th Division,

Gin Ichimaru—usually smirking—watched in rare seriousness.

Even his razor-fast Shinsō would have been useless here, he realized.

Still, the sight of Gremmy's imagination at work… it fascinated him.

"Imagination, huh?" he murmured, narrowing his eyes.

"Compared to that… even my tricks seem small."

The tension on-screen built higher and higher—

two beings beyond reason, clashing in a world of their own making.

And for everyone watching,

the same thought echoed in their minds—

This was no longer just a battle.

It was the war of monsters.
