Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

Solum was a bit surprised as he was pulled down, looking for the source of action he saw the boy he met few days ago.

" Hey Solum," Jeon greeted pleasantly with a smile that reached his eyes.

" Jeon?" Solum said fixing into the seat.

" Yes that's me," Jeon responded still smiling.

Solum looked at Jeon in front of his and thought the boy was very strange. Solum had never really had a friend before so he wasn't sure what to do. From what he remembers most of his time was spent studying. And for the rest he couldn't seem to recall those memories.

Jeon then flicked Solum's forehead as he seemed to have drifted off. Solum held the spot where he was flicked. And looking at Jeon he was still smiling.

On the journey Jeon was sketching, in his sketchbook was happy animals and smiling people, Solum thought his drawings were so joyous. Solum wanted to say he draws too, but thinking back his drawings were the opposite.

The finally reached school and the students came pouring out of the bus. All the students walked to their class know where to go as they had received the information from the mail over the weekend.

Surprisingly both Solum and Jeon walked the same way and as they came to the door, now they were sure than ever that they were in the same class.

" We're in the same class," Jeon said joyfully pulling him by the arm into the class leading him to a seat of his choice.

Before they were seated a boy came in front of Jeon who was pulling Solum behind him.

" The seats taken," a tall boy stated standing in front of Jeon.

" Well it seems empty to me," Jeon pointed out.

Solum could tell what was happening, this boy before him was showing his dominance to take some type of position as leader.

" Well it's full now," the boy answered Jeon.

Jeon felt as Solum tugged at his hand back a little so Jeon decided to move. He reached for another seat that was close by and the boy held onto the chair.

" This one's full too," the same boy said again.

The students that were in the class chuckled. Jeon wasn't stupid he knew this boy was trying to mess with him.

" So which seat is empty then?" Jeon asked his voice low.

The boy stepped closer to Jeon invading his personal space.

" Well I'm not sure," The boys answered. He looked straight at Jeon and Jeon stared back.

A girl came laughing loudly with her friends, Solum didn't need to look he knew who this laugh belonged to. It was Ami's.

It was if Ami felt her brother because as she looked up she say saw her brother looking quiet as usual, but beside him was a boy chatting away. Ami didn't want anything to do with him so she looked away.

A few hours passed and it was lunchtime and soon school ended and then after that a week had passed.

The second Monday Lynx woke up early getting ready for school. He went down stairs where it was quite and empty, not even breakfast was on the table. There was something weird about the situation and it was quiet, far too quiet.

Solum walked with caution as if he was lifting his weight not to be heard. Going outside it too was the same thing, it was extremely quiet. No people shouting or talking, no vehicles driving or honking. No wind to rattle the tree's leaves, no animals, no nothing. Just pure eerie silence. Solum walked about where he didn't see any sign of life.

He walked for some time, but still nothing changed. It had only felt like minutes since he stepped from his house, but the sun had started to set. Looking out Solum watched as some places were being eaten by darkness, Solum could only look at this strange phenomenon.

Normally when the sun sets it would cast a orange- yellow glow, but right now it was casting the colour of a shadow. Lynx watched as the dark rays from a bright setting sun abruptly stopped moving. After some time it started moving again then it stopped again, each time it got ever so closer.

On survival instinct Solum didn't want those dark rays to touch him so he started moving, the next thing he heard was an air piercing scream. Solum's house was slightly rested on a hill, so he focused looking down. What he saw was something he never expected to see. There were a few teenagers running away from the shadowry rays.

Solum watched in great bewilderment as a girl tripped over her own feet and was enveloped by the dark rays. She started sobbing loudly, but then she screamed out and that was the last thing they heard.

All the other teenagers bent over gasping from being out of breath.

" I can't do this," a girl weeped from being tired.

" We need to catch out breaths quickly, it'll start moving again," a boy told the others before removing his glasses to wipe the sweat from his eyes.

" Oh we didn't know," a girl snapped still having an attitude even though she was out of breath.

All the teens were not so far away from the darkness that had stopped moving. Everything about it was unnatural. The dark rays had stopped moving and on the ground it looked like a finishing line.

Solum didn't want to stay around and thought maybe he should go home, but a voice in his head told him not to. Solum looked out a yonder and say that the shadowy rays were covering everything, and Solum couldn't help but wonder what would happen to him if the darkness covered his house and possibly him too.

No one needed to answer Solum as the sensible side of his mind answered for him. He would scream out like the girl that he heard not so long ago.

The dark rays started moving again and the teens started to run as if their lives depended on it. No, they were running because their lives depended on it. Solum remained where he was, but then his mind prompted him to start moving too.

After about three minutes he stopped running, but he didn't give his body this command, it simply did so on it's own and Solum wasn't able to move. The dark rays too stopped moving and the teens were catching their breaths again.
