Chapter 3 - Secrets and Plans

The three of them remained statues for a while.

After a few minutes, my father spoke, "Mary, am I dreaming? Tell me I am dreaming?" he said, still in his shocked state.

My mom turned towards my father, and her eyes shone for a second. She pinched him, which was what anyone in that position would do, but she didn't pinch his hands. No, she pinched his thighs.

I swear that there was a small smile when she did that. I think she was waiting her whole life to do that.

"Aaahhh, stop it, stop it....it hurts", my father cried out in pain.

He looked at her in pain, but before he could say anything, she took away her chance.

"Ah, dear, it looks like this isn't a dream", my mother said, rapidly blinking her eyelids innocently, saying that she did just what he wanted.

My father could only swallow his pain, but he kept glaring at Mom, which only brought chuckles from both my sister and me. We know our mother well enough to see when she was acting and when she was genuine.

She got a chance by chance, and she took it.

"Mom, Dad, that's enough of playing. We need to discuss, and there is a lot to discuss", I broke their silent battle that they have been fighting through their eyes.

"Yes, we have a lot to discuss about that ridiculous status page of yours", my sister became serious.

She quickly understood the seriousness of the matter. All three understood that it was serious and probably dangerous.

I can sense from their stiff positions that they are not naive enough; otherwise, we could end up in a ditch.

"I have never heard of a Class named Heavenly Farmer, and what's with those ridiculous attributes? +150% to Perception and Endurance, that's a lot. Additionally, these skills enable you to cultivate your own vegetable garden in a separate dimension and at a remarkable speed, which is truly impressive. Don't even mention that ridiculous talent", Lara cried out in astonishment.

I can see that she is experiencing a range of emotions. I can see happiness, envy and every other emotion that one can feel on her face.

It was the same for our parents as well, but they were older and more experienced, and they controlled themselves better and didn't burst out like my sister.

"Ray, what your sister was trying to say was that no one has heard your Class before, at least not here, and your talent is powerful. Though it is not a combat talent, it can still improve the power of anyone", Mom spoke.

"Yeah", Dad chimed in, "What your mother said is true. You are like a coin-saver for many nobles who are always trying to expand their territories, but such an endeavour is always costly".

"Expansions need armies, weapons, potions, etc,... which are ridiculously pricey. You can eliminate many potions, like ones that can increase attributes, and even the need to buy skill books, which are even more costly. Buffs are not much important, as there are Priests, who can mass bless armies or commanders who can use War Cry to buff on a massive scale".

"Even so, Attributes and Skills, those two would send people on a war path. So, we can't let anyone know about this", he said.

I nodded my head, "I know that myself, Mom, Dad. I only showed you because you are family and I trust you 100%. To others, I planned to say that I awakened Farmer class and a Talent that increases produce by 30%. Though the talent may raise a few eyebrows, it's way better than they getting suspicious of me when we sell a lot of goods later on. Then we can't control the narrative", I said.

"Haha, I didn't think that my little brother was so smart. It's good that you know that the world is not a peaceful one, and trust is the most valuable commodity and also the most scarce one of all", Lara spoke, beaming a smile at me.

She may have felt envy about my talent, but my trust in them made her happy and she lost the envy from her heart. She is not an idiot. By showing my talent, she understood that I plan to use for the family's development and that means, she would progress too using it, even though it was not hers.

That day, we made a pact to never, ever speak about what we said, ever again, not even if we were alone. If we ever speak about this moment, that would be only mentally, as suggested by my sister, but to do that, it might take some time.

Now that part is done, we need to plan how to make the best use of my Class and Talent.

There is no sin greater than wasting a great talent like that. We need to plan carefully to maximise its utilisation without letting another soul know about this matter.

"Well, one problem was solved, but there are a few more", I announced.

My words caught my family's attention, as the problem that they solved a great peril and they feared they had to go through more perils.

"Relax, it was not that much of an issue, but as you know, I don't cook, and my talent works for cooking", I spoke.

They released their breaths, sighing in relaxation, but my words made them think. I am the worst at cooking, not just in this life, but also in my previous one.

The only food I could cook was Instant Noodles or boiling some vegetables in water and eating them. Nothing else. So, my precious memories from the past life helped with nothing but they made me remember not to be naive and trust easily, which is very important in a world like this.

If we wanted to make the best use of my talent, this might pose a significant hurdle.
