Chapter 10 - Elemental Affinity (1)

Affinity Stone is something that can be used to know the Elemental Affinity of any professional.

Once a person awakens a Class, then it can be used to test the Affinity of that person.

For some reason, the status doesn't show the Affinity of the person until they find it on their own.

Why was this so? I have no idea, and as far as I can tell, no one knows.

It was like people could only awaken their Affinity through the use of these Affinity Stones. It was a speculation. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. I have no idea. Knowledge about such matters is not available in a village like ours.

I need to visit a city to have access to high-level knowledge, such as that.

Anyway, whether they just show or not, it matters not. This stone was said to be rare, and only a few organisations and wealthy families seemed to possess one.

I know that every guild branch has one stone.

It was where my sister checked her Affinity, and even my parents were sad to have checked their affinities. It was the only way in our village.

Now, Lara suddenly brought an affinity stone home. In such a position, anyone would be shocked.

"Lara, where did you get that?" my mom asked in shock and maybe, a bit of fear.

Lara tilted her head, "Mom, why are you afraid?" she asked innocently.

Whether she asked on purpose or if she didn't actually pick up the reason and asked genuinely, I couldn't say.

Well, I can't judge her. I have a lifetime of memories, but she was still seventeen years old. Even I sometimes don't understand a situation. So, her lack of understanding of the situation is not considered bad at all.

"Lara, please tell me that you didn't steal that?" Mom asked directly.

"Steal", Lara chuckled, "Did you think that I stole this?"

"Lara, only the guild has that in the entirety of our village, and they won't just give it out to people. We have to go to them to use for checking our affinity", Mom continued to speak, trying to find why Lara had stolen the stone.

"Mom, you are worrying for nothing. I didn't steal it. I asked Samara, and she was the one who gave me the stone, with her father's permission, of course. I am not dumb enough to steal, especially from the guild", Lara laughed out loud.

"Really?" Mom breathed a little.

"Yes, Mom. Since Ray has awakened a never-before-seen Class and a powerful support talent, I felt that this Affinity might also give us a surprise. I didn't want to let others know about this, which could happen if he awakens his Affinity as we did".

"So, I asked Samara and she gave me the stop", Lara spoke.

Hearing those words, Mom breathed in relief. Stealing something like that from the guild would have severe consequences.

Samara is one of Lara's friends. They are best friends and also part of Lara's guild team. They were only a month apart, Lara being the eldest.

She is the daughter of the Guild Master, which made her quite popular with all the villagers. Everyone wanted to make friends with her. There were a lot of suitors from a very young age, but Samara became close to Lara, and our family by extension.

We three used to play together, along with other friends of Lara and sometimes mine.

I believe Samara gave the stone to Lara not just because of their friendship, but also because of her crush on me.

From a young age, Samara has had a crush on me. Anyone who watched her when we were together could easily piece that information. I neither accepted nor rejected her. We were kids, so there was no need to do anything, as I knew a person's life starts after awakening.

There were many sweethearts who broke after the awakening, as one of them might have gotten a good class, while the other got a simple class.

Samara awakened the Ice Mage class. So, I didn't think that she would be interested in me after I awakened the Farmer Class.

Well, it was what my family agreed to say. The word Heavenly was removed from the speech. Lara should have informed Samara of the same.

So, I wonder, why did she still give the Affinity stone to Lara?

Did she still like me, or did Lara not tell Samara about Farmer Class, or did Lara spill my secrets to her best friend?

"Lara, what did you say to Samara?" I asked her sternly, "Did you say about my class or talent?"

Lara tilted her head, "What do you mean, brother?"

"I know that Samara has had a crush on me for a long time. I didn't act on that because I didn't want to hurt her and because she was the daughter of the Guild Master. With the differences in our Classes, I thought that whatever feelings she had for me should have evaporated. So, why did she give the stone for me?" I asked her.

"Hahaha", Lara suddenly started to laugh out loud.

"You knew, I thought that you were a dense one. This would make things easier. Samara still likes you. You might be wondering if I spilled your secrets. No, I didn't. Those are your secrets. Also, if you like her, you should say so to her. You know how shy she is", Lara continued laughing.

Does she still like me?

Why?

If Lara has spilled the secrets, then it would be understandable, but liking me even after knowing my Class, that's rare.

I need to see if there was another purpose. If she truly loves me, then I should welcome her truly into my life.

I coughed twice, "Anyway, we are going off topic. Since you have already brought the Affinity Stone, it's best to use it to awaken my Affinity and return it to the guild quickly", I said.

Mom nodded with me, but Lara had a smug look as if she had done something great.

I quickly took the Affinity Stone and sent my mana into it. When I did that, the stone started to shine brilliantly.

"Wow", I couldn't help but mutter as I watched the lights.
