CHAPTER 10

Jasper POV

Spending the entire day with Cathy and the kids was something I never knew my heart had been craving for. Watching them laugh, seeing the sparkle in their eyes as they enjoyed every little thing — it felt like peace had finally found its way into my life. Luna's giggles were like music, and Lucas' playful energy made me wish time would just stop for a while.

But the one thing that truly stole my breath away was Cathy. Damn, she looked so breathtaking in that church gown — elegant, graceful, yet simple. Every time she smiled, I felt my heart skip a beat. The way she handled the kids, the way she laughed softly when they made jokes, even the way she fixed her hair when the wind blew — it all felt magical.

At a point, while we were walking together, Luna held one of my hands, and Cathy held the other. I didn't say a word, but deep inside, something shifted. It felt like I was walking with my own family, something I never imagined I could have.

Now back home, I can't stop thinking about her. Every time I close my eyes, I see her smile. Every time I breathe, I remember the way she looked at me when I handed the toys to the kids — that soft, grateful look that said more than a thousand words.

I don't know what tomorrow holds, but tonight, one thing is certain… I'm falling even deeper for her — and I'm not sure I ever want to stop.

Cecilia POV

As I stood in front of my mirror, gently wiping off my makeup, my phone suddenly rang, interrupting my thoughts. I glanced at the screen and rolled my eyes when I saw the name flashing — Frank.

With a deep sigh, I picked up. "Hello," I said in a cold, uninterested tone.

"Hello, ma'am," he replied quickly. "I have some information for you… but you'll have to pay me some cool cash first."

I frowned. Always about money, I thought to myself. Still, something about the way he sounded caught my attention — he had that sly tone he usually used whenever he had something really juicy. Against my better judgment, curiosity got the best of me. Without saying another word, I picked up my second phone and transferred the money.

"Done," I said impatiently, tapping my fingers on the table.

A pause, then his voice came again, smug and slow. "I saw Mr. Jasper and Cathy with two kids today… at the amusement park."

My heart skipped a beat. "What?" I snapped, but he had already said enough. Two kids? Cathy? Jasper? The words echoed in my head like poison.

Before I could even respond, rage boiled inside me. I ended the call immediately and threw the phone across the room.

"Aaahhhh!!! Why is it always about her?" I screamed, my voice trembling with anger. My breathing grew heavy as I slammed my hands on the dressing table, knocking down a few perfume bottles. The sound of shattering glass filled the room, but it didn't calm me — nothing could.

I clenched my fists, glaring at my reflection in the mirror. "You think you've won, Cathy?" I muttered under my breath. "You think you can take Jasper away from me?" My lips curved into a cold, dangerous smile. "Let's see how long that happiness of yours will last."

Without wasting another second, I grabbed my phone again and dialed a familiar number.

"Get me every single detail about that woman — Cathy," I said sharply to my private investigator. "I want to know everything. Where she lives, who she talks to, everything."

"Yes ma'am," he said.

"Good," I replied coldly before hanging up. Then I sank back into my chair, fury still burning in my chest.

If Jasper thought he could just forget about me and fall for that woman, he was making the biggest mistake of his life. This wasn't over — not even close.

Jasper POV

I woke up this morning with a smile that refused to leave my face. The rays of sunlight filtered softly through the curtains, warming my skin and matching the warmth in my heart. For the first time in a very long while, I felt truly alive — truly happy. The thought of Cathy being mine, of her laughter, her smile, her voice… it all felt like a dream I never wanted to wake up from.

I reached for my phone immediately, scrolling to her number. Just hearing her voice was enough to make my day complete.

"Hello," I said in a low, teasing tone, trying to sound calm even though my heart was racing.

"Hello, Mr. Jasper," she replied, mimicking my tone, and we both burst into laughter. That laugh — light, sweet, and genuine — filled me with so much peace that I couldn't stop smiling.

"How are you, my love?" I asked softly, leaning back on my bed, closing my eyes to savor the sound of her breathing on the other end.

"I'm great, muffin," she said, and immediately my heart skipped a beat. Muffin.

"Say that again," I said quickly, almost childishly.

"Muffin," she repeated, her voice dripping with sweetness, like honey melting in sunlight.

I laughed quietly. "You have no idea what you just did to me," I whispered, running a hand through my hair, still smiling like an idiot.

"Okay, my love," I continued, "I'll be taking you to the office today — by myself. No James. Just you and me."

"Really?" she said, a hint of surprise in her tone.

"Yes, really," I replied confidently. "I want to see that smile of yours before work starts."

"Alright, muffin," she said again, giggling softly.

The moment the call ended, I fell back on my bed, grinning from ear to ear. "Wow… today is going to be a nice day," I said out loud, laughing to myself like a lovesick teenager.

After freshening up, I put on my best suit — not for business, but for her. I wanted to look perfect in her eyes. My cologne filled the room as I adjusted my tie in front of the mirror, still smiling.

When I arrived at her apartment, the sight that met me melted my heart all over again. Cathy stood by the door, her kids beside her — all dressed neatly, ready for the day. She looked breathtakingly beautiful even in her simplest outfit, and the kids waved excitedly as soon as they saw me.

"Good morning, muffin," she teased with that soft smile that could calm storms.

"Good morning, my love," I replied, opening the car door for them.

After dropping the kids off at school, Cathy and I drove to the office together. The car was filled with laughter, soft glances, and the kind of peace I hadn't felt in years. I glanced at her once in a while — the way her hair danced slightly in the wind, the way her lips curved when she smiled.

And in that moment, I knew… I could drive with her forever and never get tired.

Cecilia POV

I woke up before the first light of dawn, my mind buzzing with one thought — today, everything changes.

Even though Jasper and I were never truly in love, the idea of losing him to someone like Cathy made my blood boil. The engagement might have been arranged by our families, but I had grown to like the status it gave me — being known as the fiancée of Mr. Jasper, the man everyone in the company respected and admired. I couldn't let that go. Not without a fight.

I got ready faster than usual, slipping into my most elegant corporate dress — a deep blue that screamed power. I painted my lips red and tied my hair into a neat bun. My reflection in the mirror looked fierce, determined, ready for war.

"Today," I whispered to myself, "I'll remind everyone who I am."

When I arrived at Amazon Company, the building was still quiet, the morning air cool and calm. I smiled — I was early, just as planned. I wanted to see Jasper first, to talk some sense into him before anyone else showed up. I went straight to his office and sat down, crossing my legs confidently as I waited.

A few minutes later, I heard the elevator ding. My heartbeat quickened. I stood, fixing my blazer and brushing invisible dust from my sleeve. But then… I heard laughter. A woman's laughter.

That voice. I froze.

Stepping out of the office, my heels clicking sharply against the floor, I saw them — Jasper and Cathy, walking hand in hand, smiling like they had the whole world figured out. He opened the door for her, and she giggled softly, completely unaware of the fury building up inside me.

My voice trembled with rage. "Hey, Jasper! What's the meaning of this?"

He turned to me, looking almost… irritated. "Meaning of what?" he asked flatly, his tone cold, distant — the way he always sounded when he didn't care to entertain me.

"Why are you holding hands with her?" I asked, pointing at Cathy, whose face immediately turned red with embarrassment.

He sighed, and I saw the faintest trace of a smirk on his lips — one that told me he was done pretending. "Do you really want to know why?"

I nodded, though my throat felt tight.

"The reason," he said firmly, "is because Cathy and I are in a relationship now. And as for that forced engagement, I've canceled it. I won't marry someone I don't love — and definitely not someone as arrogant and aggressive as you."

The entire office went silent. Eyes widened. Gasps echoed.

My heart dropped. Even though I knew the engagement was never real to him, hearing him say it so boldly, in front of everyone, crushed my pride completely.

I could feel every pair of eyes burning into me — some in pity, others in disbelief. My face burned with shame. My breath came in short, broken gasps.

Without another word, I turned and ran out of the building, my heels clattering against the tiles. By the time I reached the parking lot, tears were already streaming down my face, my hands shaking uncontrollably.

"Why her?" I screamed, gripping the steering wheel as I sat in my car. "Why does it always have to be her?"

I slammed my hand against the dashboard, anger flooding through me. My chest heaved with every breath.

"Fine," I muttered through gritted teeth, my eyes dark with determination. "If Jasper thinks he can humiliate me for that woman, he has no idea who he's dealing with. I'll make them both pay."
