Chapter 79 - KRYPT-Ch.79: Fighting Tournament

Matthew Atkinson

Oxford, United Kingdom

Matthew returned to his apartment.

Just as he was about to open the door to go inside, suddenly, his neighbor across the hall opened the door behind him.

Matthew subconsciously turned his head and saw a woman looking him up and down.

The woman was about twenty-six or twenty-seven years old. She was gorgeous, with a pair of captivating eyes.

Most importantly, the woman had a very hot body!

She had a slim waist and long legs, and her boobs were practically bursting out of her clothes.

Matthew was stunned when he saw the woman.

He didn't remember having a neighbor across the hall like that.

"You're Matthew Atkinson?"

The woman spoke first.

Her voice sounded lazy, which, combined with her stunning figure, made her even more alluring.

Faced with the woman's question, Matthew denied it without hesitation. "Sorry, you've mistaken me for someone else. I'm not Matthew Atkinson. My name is Rowan."

When a stunningly beautiful woman suddenly appeared and even called out his name, Matthew instinctively became wary.

He was not the kind of person who's driven by lust.

Moreover, seeing Natalie's stunningly beautiful face every day has made him somewhat immune to the charms of other attractive women.

Upon hearing Matthew's words, the woman across the hall gave him a bright smile.

"Oh, you're quite cautious! Good, keep that up!"

"Let me formally introduce myself. I'm from Round Table. My superiors have ordered me to protect you. This is my identification."

As the woman spoke, she flashed her identification badge.

Matthew glanced at the contents of the badge.

[The Perceval Unit of the Round Table: Ava Owen]

There was also a badge number and a national emblem below.

That was all the information on the badge. It was straightforward.

Matthew had heard of the Round Table. It was said to be a very mysterious department with great power, but he knew nothing else about it.

Seeing the national emblem on the badge, Matthew was already somewhat convinced.

He breathed a sigh of relief and immediately smiled. "So, you're an expert from the Round Table. My apologies for lying to you. May I ask what Miss Owen needs me to do?"

Ava Owen smiled and handed Matthew a small black box with a button on it.

"In your daily life, you don't need to do anything. Just press this alarm button if you find someone breaking into your house, and I'll appear in time to save you."

"OK!"

Matthew readily agreed, took the small black box, and said, "Miss Owen, if there's nothing else, I'll go back to my room now."

"Okay! Go ahead!"

As soon as Ava Owen finished speaking, Matthew quickly went into the house and closed the door.

Seeing this, Ava Owen was stunned for a moment, then smiled and went back into the house.

...

Inside his apartment, Matthew put the small black box into the drawer of the cabinet by the door.

He didn't know if this thing had any monitoring or eavesdropping functions. In any case, he would definitely have to be careful at home from now on and not say anything he shouldn't.

Other than that, there was nothing he needed to pay attention to or change.

Then, Matthew took off his shoes and went to the computer desk.

The apartment he bought is a one-bedroom, one-living room unit, about 50 square meters. It was a bit small, but it was definitely comfortable for one person to live in.

Matthew turned on his computer and began searching for "United Kingdom Round Table Department".

There wasn't much information about the Round Table online, apart from historical accounts of the legend of King Arthur; he searched for a long time but couldn't find any helpful information.

He had only been able to obtain publicly available general information.

The Round Table was under government control, and some of its units were even directly under the crown.

Although it had a small number of personnel, it wielded enormous power. It could handle any crime committed by superhumans, making it a powerful and privileged organization!

In addition, the Round Table had strict requirements for recruiting personnel. Not only did they need to be outstanding individuals with good family backgrounds, but strength was also a critical factor in the assessment. Only the strongest could be admitted!

The Round Table had twelve central units, each corresponding to one of the famous Round Table Knights, and each unit had a different role.

Matthew couldn't find out what specific functions they were.

And from what Matthew had read, he understood that there were also Round Table units that were not publicly known and carried out secret missions on the government's or the crown's behalf.

This department was named after King Arthur's Round Table Organization, and its purpose was to protect!

Protect the United Kingdom!

It was said that the head of the Round Table was one of the strongest people in the United Kingdom.

The fact that the higher-ups sent a powerful expert from the Round Table to protect Matthew showed considerable care.

But…

"Sending such a beautiful woman to protect me? Is it a deliberate attempt to seduce me into making a mistake?"

"Perhaps as soon as I show any signs of desire, someone from Natalie's side will immediately send a message to create a rift between us, ultimately leading to our separation?"

Matthew thought to himself.

Although these were all his guesses and there was no evidence, he felt that Ava Owen's appearance here had this purpose.

Perhaps this wasn't the idea of the higher-ups, but rather someone in the middle. They could be acting on their own initiative to lure him into making a mistake, using a honey trap to break him up with Natalie.

If he didn't fall for it, that would still be fine. Nothing would change.

But if Matthew fell into their trap, it would, of course, be better for them.

They had nothing to lose, and if luck was on their side, they could achieve their goal.

As for their intentions, Matthew had no idea. Perhaps someone wanted to link Natalie to someone close to them. Who knew?

Thinking of this, Matthew revealed a disdainful smile.

Did they really think he was a hothead fool?

Then Matthew closed the internet browser on his computer and opened the file he had left unfinished, continuing to write his novels from where he left off.

After all, he hadn't yet repaid the debt he owed Natalie, and although Natalie said it wasn't important, as a prideful man, not paying his debt was unacceptable to Matthew.

He also planned to keep his powers hidden for a while longer, and during this time, he couldn't live off Natalie.

He needed to earn his own money.

Moreover, with his now 194-point Mental Attribute, his mind was much stronger, and he could easily recall many things he had read in the past.

Ultimately, 194 points on the Mental attribute meant approximately 20 times stronger memory, intelligence, and mental capacity than a normal person.

The only thing he needed to be careful about was not writing a creation that included the abilities distributed by the Holy Land.

He had heard that there were many layers about the worlds from which these abilities originated in the later layers, and he didn't want the government to question how he had learned this information early on and turned it into novels.

Luckily, there were many web novels, light novels, and novels that Holy Lands had no connection to.

Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, Versatile Mage, Sword Art Online, and even works like The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, and Harry Potter didn't exist in this world.

Superpowers that emerged a few centuries ago have drastically changed this world.

And with his enhanced intelligence and agile fingers, it would be easy for him to bring these works into this world quickly.

...

The next morning, Matthew arrived at campus on time, ready to start class.

This was something Professor Holland strongly insisted on.

Yesterday, Professor Holland sent several messages in the Class B group, requiring everyone to be present today.

Because he wanted to help everyone rebuild their team.

Apparently, the third layer of the supernatural realm allowed for the formation of a large team.

-Ring, ring

As soon as the class bell rang, Professor Holland walked into the classroom.

"Good morning, students!"

Professor Holland glanced around the classroom and said with a smile, "Today we'll be discussing the third layer of the Supernatural Realm."

"Actually, there's not much to say about the third layer of the supernatural realm, because it's another amnesiac layer!"

"Based on the information we have so far, the content of the third layer of the Supernatural Realm is a fighting tournament, and allows for the formation of a large team, with a maximum of ten people in a team."

Upon hearing this, the students were all surprised.

Immediately, many students raised their hands to ask questions.

"Professor, since it's an amnesiac layer, how would you know that the content of the layer is a fighting tournament?"

"Yes! Last time, in the first layer of the Supernatural Realm, we had no memory of what happened inside. What we looked like when we went in was exactly what we came out."

Professor Holland smiled at the students' questions and then explained.

"The reason we know this is because a long time ago, a team achieved an S-grade mission rating for the first time in the third layer of the Supernatural Realm, and the Supernatural Realm issued a notice!"

"The announcement contained the words 'fighting tournament'."

The students then understood!

Professor Holland continued, "Regarding the third layer of the Supernatural Realm, many experts speculate that it will likely be a fighting tournament among freshmen students all around the world."

Upon hearing this, everyone instinctively looked towards Matthew.

Even Professor Holland looked at Matthew.

It was not that Matthew was that powerful!

In fact, although Matthew's image has improved in the eyes of many thanks to Natalie, no one still considered him a top-tier "celebrity" among the freshmen!

Everyone looked at him because he had an incredibly talented partner: Natalie Russell!

Two consecutive SSS-grade mission evaluations yielded a total of 700 attribute points, not to mention the attribute increases Natalie Russell had made through her regular training.

Natalie Russell's total attributes would definitely break through 1000 before she arrived at the third layer of the Supernatural Realm!

That was over a thousand attributes!

Many supernatural individuals with low talent may never achieve this in their entire lives.

Natalie was now officially recognized as the number one freshman!

If the third layer of the supernatural realm was indeed a fighting tournament, with that kind of power, wasn't Natalie a pre-selected champion?
