Matthew Atkinson & Natalie Russell
Oxford, United Kingdom
Seeing Matthew look like a completely different person after putting on his glasses, the girl's pretty face showed a look of surprise.
"How about that? Isn't it amazing?"
Matthew took off his glasses, restoring his original appearance, and then handed them to Natalie. "Here, take these too. If you ever need to go out, wearing them can help you hide your identity and prevent being targeted."
Natalie shook her head: "I don't plan to go out for the time being, so I don't need it."
"Keep it. You never know when you might need it."
The girl still refused. "I'll ask you for it when I need to go out." She said.
The necklace around her neck was a gift from Matthew. She felt too embarrassed to take anything from Matthew again.
Seeing Natalie's stubbornness, Matthew had no choice but to take the glasses back.
When it was time for class, the two left the lounge and headed towards their respective classrooms.
...
Amidst all the commotion, ten days passed quickly.
Only today has public interest in the bounty on Natalie's head gradually subsided.
Although the hype had died down, the undercurrents within it had become even more intense.
According to information obtained by the Immigration Bureau, in the past ten days, many foreigners have entered England under the guise of tourism, investment, and supernatural exchanges.
To avoid panic, this information was only known to high-level officials.
Ordinary people and students of the University of Oxford were unaware of this.
In short, the University of Oxford has recently issued a ban prohibiting any outsiders from entering the campus.
With that principal and the bigwig from the Round Table overseeing things, Natalie's safety shouldn't be a big problem for the time being.
It should be noted that Natalie's mental attribute has now exceeded 1400 points.
Meaning, the girl had very keen senses now.
Even without the protection of a powerful figure, assassinating someone like that would be extremely difficult.
That morning, Matthew woke up from the sunbathing machine and first checked his attribute panel.
.........
Race: Human
Constitution: 1100 (↑100)
Mental: 284 (↑30)
Strength: 1100 (↑100)
Agility: 1100 (↑100)
Ability: Kryptonian Bloodline [Stell Body (3), Super Strength (3)]
Skills: [Fist/Galaxy Impact], [Armament Haki (Master)]
Attribute Points: 340 (↑300)
.........
This was Matthew's current attribute panel.
He nodded in satisfaction and then headed to campus.
After class, Matthew was about to return to his apartment to rest when he found that Natalie had sent him a message. Saying that she wanted to ask him for help, she asked him to meet her in the lounge.
Matthew found it a bit strange. He wondered what this girl needed his help with.
When he arrived at the lounge, he found that Natalie was already waiting for him.
"Natalie, is there anything I can help you with?" Upon meeting, Matthew asked with a smile.
Natalie immediately said, "It's like this, my father..."
Through the girl's explanation, Matthew finally understood what had happened.
Turns out that Natalie receiving an SSS-grade mission rating for the third time had a greater impact than expected.
Even her father, Magister Russell, received attention from higher-ups.
The original plan was to transfer Magister Russell from London City to a small city to serve as Grand Magister.
This move may seem like a lenient adjustment, since it was made from a large city like London to a smaller one, but it was actually a good promotion.
But after news of Natalie receiving her third SSS-grade mission rating spread, the Royal Guild of Supernatural People headquarters immediately changed its mind.
To show how much they valued Natalie, after discussion, the Royal Guild decided to appoint Magister Russell directly as the Grand Magister of Oxford City and the surrounding settlements.
For the Royal Guild, Oxford was the main headquarters of England's South West region, and Magister Russell's appointment as Grand Magister of Oxford meant he would head the South West region and become its most authoritative figure.
This was a region-level grand magister, which was many times stronger than a city-level grand magister.
The region grand magister had a lot of power. Nominally, they could manage all the supernatural individuals in a region.
Anyone who wanted to improve their career would like to sit down in that chair for a while.
Magister Russell was no exception.
However, there was a problem.
That was Magister Russell's previous network and influence, which was relatively poor.
In fact, he had no political achievements or network whatsoever.
If he were actually to sit in that position, it would be difficult for him to gain the people's support.
The most direct achievement of the Royal Guild was recruiting strong supernatural individuals to join the association.
The best solution now was to have a supernatural expert join the Royal Guild through Magister Russell's reference.
As long as Magister Russell could recruit strong supernatural individuals to join the association, with their support, he would be qualified to serve as regional Grand Magister.
But Magister Russell was unlucky. The strong friends he knew had already joined the Royal Guild.
Then, he could only turn to his daughter for help.
So he asked his daughter to help him by introducing him to a powerful figure, to go through the motions.
...
After listening to Natalie's words, Matthew was a little stunned.
"Natalie, do you mean you want me to become that strong one?"
Natalie nodded and said, "You are much stronger than I, and with your strength, you are definitely more than capable. Moreover, joining the Royal Guild is not a bad thing. Not only can you get a stipend, but you also have a lot of freedom."
That was true.
The Superhuman Association was actually a relatively free-and-loose official organization. Joining it did not mean that you would have to obey orders and have no control over your own life.
In fact, even after joining the Royal Guild, one could still enjoy considerable freedom.
Even if war breaks out and the country conscripts supernatural individuals, someone could refuse the conscription.
"I wouldn't mind joining the Royal Guild but…" Matthew hesitated for a moment before saying, "Natalie, you should know that I don't want to reveal my strength yet…"
"I know, and I'm not asking you to use your real identity when registering with the Royal Guild," Natalie said.
Upon hearing this, Matthew was stunned.
"What are you talking about?"
"Don't you have a pair of supernatural glasses?"
Natalie said, "You looked like a completely different person after you put on your glasses last time. I think you can register with a new identity."
Matthew was surprised to hear this and glanced at Natalie with astonishment.
My goodness.
What a great daughter.
Were you going to lie to your dad like that?
Wait a minute, this didn't seem like deceiving Magister Russell. It was more like going through the motions to report back to the headquarters.
But…
"Natalie, this probably won't work, right?" Matthew thought for a moment and said, "Even if I can make up a new identity, people will find out it's fake once they check."
Natalie then asked, "Do you remember Denis Read from my class?"
"Of course, I remember. What happened to him?" Matthew asked.
Natalie: "His father is a high-ranking official, holding an important position in the police department. I've already asked him for help, and he said it's just a small matter, he'll handle it, and he'll guarantee everything will be normal, and no one will be able to find anything wrong..."
Good heavens.
Wow, that's amazing.
Matthew was surprised that Natalie knew this.
Now that the girl has arranged everything.
Then why was he still dawdling?
Then Matthew immediately agreed.
"No problem. But could you give Denis the name I've chosen and ask him if he can create an identity with that name?"
"Sure. What name do you have in mind?"
"Hehe. The name I have in mind is..."
...
After leaving campus, Matthew put on his glasses and went to a photo studio to have a clear photo of his upper body taken.
This would be used for files and other necessary documents.
The man in the photo was a refined and cultured young man who looked completely different from his real self.
He handed the photo to Natalie, along with the new name he had chosen for himself.
Subsequently, Natalie handed over his new name and new photo to Denis Read.
Why didn't Matthew give it to Denis Read directly and have Natalie hand it over instead of going through all that trouble?
This was, of course, because...
She didn't want Denis Read to know the truth.
After all, they weren't that familiar with each other yet, and Matthew didn't know whether Denis Read was someone who could keep a secret.
All Denis Read knew so far was that Natalie asked him for help, to help a stranger get a new identity. He had no idea this identity would be for Matthew.
...
That afternoon, Matthew then received his new ID card.
According to his new identity, he was 22 years old, and records showed that the place where he was born and raised had been destroyed by monsters.
This would make it difficult for people to track his past. He wouldn't have to worry about anyone going to his hometown to investigate his true identity.
Matthew examined his new ID, and all the information and numbers on it looked pretty realistic.
After receiving the ID card, Matthew used it to apply for a SIM card for a mobile phone and a bank card, and also bought a new mobile phone.
If he was going to put on a show, he should go all the way.
The process went smoothly.
Afterwards, Matthew asked Professor Holland for leave, saying he needed to go home to visit his family for two days.
Professor Holland readily agreed.
The next day, around 8 a.m., after leaving his apartment, Matthew put on his glasses, disguised himself, and boarded the train back to London.
Magister Russell's transfer had not yet taken place, and he was still serving in one of the Rotary Guild's branches in London.
He arrived smoothly in just over half an hour.
What Matthew didn't expect was...
As soon as he got off the train and exited the station, he saw a beautiful woman holding a sign and waiting at the exit.
The sign had Matthew's name on it. Or rather, his new identity's name.
Matthew walked over with a puzzled look and asked, "Excuse me, were you waiting for me?"
The woman looked at the photo in her hand, then at Matthew, and immediately nodded.
"Yes, please come with me. Grand Magister is waiting for you in the car."
Upon hearing this, Matthew was a little surprised.
He never expected that Magister… Grand Magister Russell would personally come to the station to pick him up.
Led by the beautiful woman, Matthew arrived at the station parking lot and saw an official black sedan.
From a distance, Grand Magister Russell got out of the car and jogged over, a warm smile on his face, and shook hands with Matthew.
"Mr. Kent, welcome to London City."
It seemed that the old man didn't recognize him at all.
"Hello, Grand Magister Russell, it's a pleasure to meet you," Matthew said with a smile.
"Mr. Kent, you're too kind."
Grand Magister Russell subtly sized up Matthew, then smiled and said, "My daughter told me that Mr. Kent, at such a young age, has already reached the fourth level or above in terms of overall strength. You are truly a promising young man."
"Not at all, only Natalie's polite words," Matthew said.
Upon hearing Matthew call his daughter "Natalie" so affectionately, Grand Magister Russell's expression immediately changed, and he squinted at him.
