Lucian POV
The moment Selene's body crumpled, the world narrowed to a single, unbearable point.
"Selene," I called her name sharply, already moving, already dropping to my knees beside her as her weight went slack and her head lolled against the edge of the table. There was no response. No flutter of lashes. No sharp inhale to tell me she was still anchored here with me.
Fear hit hard and fast, a violent surge that ripped through my chest and sent my wolf clawing at the surface of my mind.
Without wasting another second, I scooped her up into my arms. She felt lighter than she should have, far too still, and that terrified me more than anything else ever had. I turned and rushed from the library, my boots pounding against the stone floors as instinct overrode thought.
I mindlinked sharply, "Alora, my voice tight and barely contained. Selene fainted. Come to our room now."
Even as I sent that, I reached out again.
"Leo, tell Elara to come immediately. Now."
