The weather was rainy, and dark clouds slowly drifted across the sky. Raindrops danced on the sidewalks like soft but sorrowful notes. The camera slowly pans to Hina's face as she says goodbye to her mother at the entrance of the house, her eyes glimmering with a hint of worry and the cold.
Hina: Goodbye, Mom… goodbye, Dad…
Her purple scarf is wrapped carefully around her neck, the brown jacket snugly around her body, and her blue gloves tremble slightly in the cold wind.
She whispers to herself: It's so cold… I think the rain will get heavier.
The camera slowly moves to the friends waiting under a shared umbrella. Raindrops slide down the umbrella's glass, reflecting on their faces with small smiles and mutual care.
Yui: Oooh, it's so cold today, isn't it?
Kai: Yeah… luckily I bought a hot drink from the shop.
Mika: Hina's late… and Ren… when will he show up?
Taki: I messaged her, she said she's close. As for Ren, I sent him a message, but he hasn't read it yet.
Kai whispers to himself, worry clear on his face:
I hope Ren doesn't do anything bad after what happened yesterday…
Rainwater streams down the street toward its end, and then Hina appears, waving at her friends with a smile despite the cold.
Hina: I'm here, friends!
The friends respond enthusiastically: Hi Hina! How are you?
Yui (smiling at Hina's outfit): You look beautiful today.
But Hina, after a quick glance, notices Ren's absence.
Hina (worried): What… where is Ren? Didn't he come?
Kai shrugs, puzzled: I don't think he's late just because of the weather.
Hina puffs her cheeks slightly, looking almost angry, while raindrops fall from the trees, wetting the schoolyard.
Laughter and smiles thread through the group as they climb the stairs to class, but Hina and Kai feel a hidden worry for Ren.
The students enter the classroom, and the lineup begins with the teacher, the ringing bell competing with the heavy rain outside.
Teacher: I'll take attendance now.
He calls out names… until he reaches Ren.
Teacher (surprised): What? Ren… Ren isn't here?
Hina and Kai realize that Ren didn't come today, their worry mixed with anger on Hina's face.
Kai doesn't know what to say until Taki intervenes:
Taki: He answered the phone, there's a message.
Hina: What does it say? Quickly!
The message appears on the phone:
"I won't go to school today… sorry, everyone."
Three exhausting lessons pass, the storm intensifies, and the rain pours harder, reflecting Ren's feelings of sadness and loneliness.
Later, Teacher Yahiko calls them before recess:
Teacher: I want you to deliver these papers to Ren, but they're important… don't read them yourselves.
Kai: Okay, sir.
The camera shifts outside, showing Ren completely soaked from the rain, sitting under the bridge. He shivers from the cold, suffering from a mild cold, surrounded by the fresh scent of rain and damp air.
Ren (whispering in pain): Hah-choo… do I have to go somewhere to shelter from the rain?
Ren walks with half-closed eyes, occasionally stumbling on the wet ground. He sits among the alleys of houses, avoiding garbage, but carrying a constant feeling of shame and disappointment with each raindrop that hits his face.
After school ends, Hina, Kai, Yui, Mika, and Taki stand under their umbrellas, wondering anxiously:
Yui: Where is Ren's house?
Kai lifts the umbrella and points: Ren always goes to the house in front of a restaurant called "The Family"…
The friends begin their search for Ren in the rainy, gloomy, and melancholic weather. Each glance Ren casts at the raindrops reflects his guilt, loneliness, and the mysterious past tied to his parents' accident.

الجو ماطر والغيوم السوداء تحوم ببطء في السماء، تتراقص قطرات المطر على الأرصفة وكأنها نغمات هادئة ولكن حزينة. الكاميرا تدور ببطء حتى تلتقط وجه هينا وهي تودع والدتها عند مدخل المنزل، عيناها تلمعان ببصيص القلق والبرد.
هينا: وداعًا يا أمي وأبي…
الوشاح البنفسجي ملفوف بعناية حول رقبتها، والجاكيت البني يلتف حول جسدها، والقفازات الزرقاء على يديها تهتز مع نسيم الرياح البارد.
تتكلم هينا لنفسها بهمس: الجو بارد جدًا… أظن المطر سيزداد.
تنتقل الكاميرا ببطء إلى الأصدقاء الذين كانوا ينتظرونها تحت مظلة مشتركة. قطرات المطر تنزلق على زجاج المظلة وتنعكس على وجوههم بابتسامات صغيرة واهتمام متبادل.
يوي: أووو الجو بارد جدًا، أليس كذلك؟
كاي: نعم… من حسن حظنا أني اشتريت مشروبًا ساخنًا من المحل.
ميكا: هينا تأخرت، ورين… متى سيظهر؟
تاكي: لقد راسلتها، قالت إنها قريبة. أما رين، أرسلته لكن لم يقرأ الرسالة بعد.
كاي يهمس لنفسه، بقلق واضح على وجهه:
أتمنى ألا يفعل رين شيئًا سيئًا بعد ما حدث البارحة…
تسيل مياه المطر في الشارع نحو نهايته، وعندها تظهر هينا، تلوح بيدها للأصدقاء بابتسامة رغم البرد.
هينا: لقد أتيت يا أصدقاء!
رد الأصدقاء بتحية حماسية: مرحبًا يا هينا، كيف حالك؟
يوي تعلق على ملابس هينا بابتسامة: تبدين جميلة اليوم.
لكن هينا، بعد نظرة سريعة، لاحظت غياب رين.
هينا (بقلق): ماذا… أين رين؟ ألم يأتِ؟
كاي يرفع كتفيه بحيرة: لا أظنه تأخر بسبب الجو فقط.
هينا تنفخ وجنتيها قليلاً، كأنها غاضبة، بينما قطرات المطر تتساقط من الأشجار لتبلل ساحة المدرسة.
الضحك والابتسامات تتخلل المجموعة أثناء صعودهم السلالم إلى الصف، لكن هينا وكاي يشعران بقلق خفي على رين.
يدخل الطلاب الصف، وتبدأ الطابور مع الأستاذ والجرس الرنان يصم الأذن بالمطر الذي يهطل بغزارة خارج الصف.
الأستاذ: سأخذ الحضور الآن.
يبدأ بالنداء على الأسماء… حتى يصل إلى رين.
الأستاذ (مستغربًا): ماذا؟ رين… رين غير موجود؟
هنا، تأكدت هينا وكاي أن رين لم يأتِ اليوم، والغضب يختلط بالقلق على وجه هينا.
كاي لا يعرف ماذا يقول، حتى يتدخل تاكي:
تاكي: لقد أجاب على الهاتف، هناك رسالة.
هينا: ماذا قال؟ بسرعة!
تظهر الرسالة على الهاتف:
"أنا لن أذهب إلى المدرسة اليوم… آسف جميعًا."
تمر ثلاث حصص متعبة، والجو يزداد عاصفًا والمطر يهطل بغزارة، كأنه يعكس مشاعر الحزن والوحدة لدى رين.
بعدها يستدعيهم الأستاذ ياهيكو قبل فترة الاستراحة:
الأستاذ: أريدكم أن تأخذوا هذه الأوراق لرين، لكنها ضرورية… لا تقرؤوها أنتم.
كاي: حسنًا يا أستاذ.
تنتقل الكاميرا إلى الخارج، حيث يظهر رين مبتلًا بالكامل بسبب المطر، جالسًا تحت الجسر. يرتجف من البرد ويعاني من الزكام، محاطًا برائحة المطر الطازجة والهواء الرطب.
رين (بهمس متألم): هاتشو… هل عليّ الذهاب لمكان أتحتمى فيه من المطر؟
يمشي رين بعينيه نصف مغلقة، يتعثر أحيانًا بسبب الأرض المبتلة، ويجلس بين ممرات المنازل، مبتعدًا عن القمامة، لكن محتفظًا بشعور الخزي والخذلان المستمر مع كل قطرة مطر تضرب وجهه.
بعد انتهاء المدرسة، يقف هينا وكاي ويوي وميكا وتاكي تحت المظلات، يتساءلون بقلق:
يوي: أين منزل رين؟
كاي يرفع المظلة ويشير: رين يذهب دائمًا إلى بيت أمام مطعم يسمى "العائلة"…
ويبدأ الأصدقاء رحلة البحث عن رين في الجو الماطر، الماكر، والحزين، بينما كل نظرة من رين على قطرات المطر تعكس شعوره بالذنب والوحدة، وماضيه الغامض المرتبط بحادثة والديه.
