Episode 18: "The Return"
Flashback from the previous episode:
An ambulance screeches to a halt in front of the hospital, its red and blue lights flashing against the walls.
The wind howls through the trees under the night sky.
Paramedics rush Ren out of the ambulance on a stretcher as Hina's father jumps out of his car, breathing heavily in panic, helping them wheel Ren inside.
In that moment, fear, worry, and hope collide — even the air itself trembles with tension.
As the hospital doors close with a thud, the wind blows outside.
Emergency lights reflect in Ren's half-open eyes.
A doctor steps into the operating room, his tone firm and serious:
> Doctor: "You'll have to wait outside. We'll do everything we can."
The friends sit in the long hallway — Mika tries to calm trembling Hina, Kai gently pats Yui's shoulder, while Taki clasps his hands, silently praying Ren survives.
Meanwhile, Hina's parents explain what happened to another doctor, their voices shaking, eyes red from tears.
The camera pans through the cloudy night sky, revealing a man at an airport with a little girl beside him.
> Lia: "Brother... where are we going?"
Brother (smiling faintly): "We're going to see someone… someone you'll recognize."
Lia: "Who is it?"
Brother: "You'll know when we get there."
The wind blows through the airport terminal as their voices fade into the sound of departing planes.
Cut back to the hospital — moonlight glimmers on the glass windows as time crawls by.
The friends begin losing hope after waiting for so long outside the operation room.
After half an hour that felt like eternity, the door slowly opens, and the doctor steps out.
All hearts stop for a moment —
> Kai: "Tell us, is he okay?!"
Hina: "He's not dead, right?!"
Yui (trembling): "Please, say something…"
Taki & Mika (together): "Please, tell us he's alive!"
The doctor exhales deeply, then gives a faint smile:
> Doctor: "Relax… he made it. He'll need rest, but he'll wake up soon."
Tears fall instantly — relief washing over everyone.
> Kai: "Thank God…"
Hina (laughing weakly): "He's… alive."
Mika: "It's a miracle!"
Taki: "His survival was nearly impossible…"
Hina's parents exchange warm smiles:
> Hina's Father: "As long as he's safe… you'll see him soon."
The camera shifts to an airplane soaring above the clouds.
Inside, the brother and Lia look out the window as the engine hum fills the air.
Back at the hospital, the doctor opens the door:
> Doctor: "You can see him now."
They enter the room.
Their faces are a mix of anger and affection — anger that Ren tried to end his life, and longing because he's still here.
Ren slowly opens his eyes, voice weak and trembling:
> Ren: "Where am I? Mom… Dad… Sis… where are you?"
He looks toward his friends, tears filling his eyes:
> Ren: "Why are you here? I was the one who died… not you…"
The nurse sprinkles water on his face to wake him fully.
He opens his eyes wide, silent, as the cold, heavy stillness fills the room.
His condition is dire:
A bandage around his head.
Medical tubes connected to his body.
Small blood stains on the white sheets.
He lowers his eyes in shame as everyone stares at him.
Suddenly, the sound of a young girl crying echoes from the hallway.
> Nurse (from afar): "Don't run, you'll fall!"
But the girl bursts into the room — it's Emi!
She throws herself onto Ren, sobbing:
> Emi: "You idiot! What were you thinking?! Suicide?! Why?! Why would you do that?!"
Ren winces from pain as she lands on his injured leg.
Kai gently pulls her away.
> Emi (screaming): "Why won't you say anything, you stupid suicidal idiot?!"
Silence fills the room.
After a long, tense pause, everyone decides to leave — realizing Ren needs time to face himself.
They quietly return home, leaving only Hina's mother beside him.
The clock shows 1:00 a.m.
Rain begins to fall softly against the windows as silence blankets the hospital.
Hina's mother dozes off in the chair beside him.
Before dawn, Ren wakes up quietly, removes the IV lines from his arm, and slips out unnoticed.
But Hina's mother opens her eyes slightly, sees him, and smiles faintly — she knows someone will meet him soon.
The camera shows Ren walking down the rain-soaked street as the gray dawn slowly breaks behind the clouds.
Meanwhile, his friends head to visit him that morning.
> Hina: "Wait… isn't that Ren?!"
Kai: "Where?!"
Hina: "There, in front of the supermarket!"
Kai: "That idiot… what's he doing outside the hospital?!"
They run toward him.
Ren sits beneath the same bridge he once slept under, drinking an energy drink against doctor's orders.
The wind rises, dark clouds rolling in again.
A man approaches quietly — his shadow appearing before his face.
It's Hiroto.
> Hiroto: "Hmm, Ren… what are you doing here?"
Ren (lifting his head, eyes filling with tears): "Hiroto… I'm sorry… I don't know what's wrong with me. Forgive me. I let everyone down."
Hiroto (smiling tiredly): "You didn't let anyone down. But what you did was reckless. How could you jump off a bridge?"
Ren (shocked): "How did you know?!"
Hiroto: "A woman called me. Said Ren jumped from a bridge and was taken to the hospital."
Ren: "Who?"
Hiroto: "Hina's mother, you fool."
Ren's eyes widen:
> Ren: "What?! You know Hina's mother?!"
Hiroto (chuckling): "I know everyone… Hina's parents, your friends, even Emi."
Ren tries to respond, but Hiroto places a hand on his shoulder:
> Hiroto: "Come on, let's go back to the hospital. There's something I want to show you."
Ren: "Alright…"
From a distance, the friends watch in shock.
They follow as Ren and Hiroto walk toward the hospital, confusion and fear in their eyes.
> Ren (softly): "I'm sorry, everyone… I never wanted to bring you to this moment."
Kai (half-smiling): "Hah? What are you saying, idiot? We're your friends. And who's that guy?"
Hiroto (with a mysterious smile): "We'll talk inside, Kai."
They enter the hospital together.
The camera follows them down the hall to Room 55.
Outside, a car stops in front of the hospital.
A young girl steps out, holding a small pink teddy bear — it's Lia.
She walks slowly toward the room, rain dripping from her hair.
The camera focuses on her hand clutching the teddy bear, eyes filled with anticipation as she looks at the door.

سيارة الإسعاف تتوقف أمام المستشفى، أضواؤها الحمراء والزرقاء تومض على الجدران، والريح تعصف من بين الأشجار ليلًا. ينزل المسعفون رين من السيارة إلى السرير المتحرّك بسرعة، ووالد هينا يهرع من سيارته، يفتح الباب وهو يلهث من التعب والخوف، ثم يساعدهم في إدخال رين إلى داخل المستشفى.
كانت مشاعر القلق والخوف والأمل تجتمع جميعها في لحظة واحدة — كأن الهواء نفسه يرتجف من التوتر.
مع هبوب الرياح وصوت إغلاق باب المستشفى، تلمع أضواء الطوارئ على عيني رين شبه المفتوحتين. يدخل الطبيب إلى غرفة العمليات، صوته حازم:
> الطبيب: "يجب أن تنتظروا بالخارج، سنفعل كل ما بوسعنا."
يجلس الأصدقاء في الممر الطويل — ميكا تحاول تهدئة هينا التي ترتجف، وكاي يربت على كتف يوي ليطمئنها، بينما تاكي يضم يديه ويدعو بصمت أن ينجو رين.
في الجانب الآخر، كان والدا هينا يتحدثان مع أحد الأطباء يشرحان له ما حدث بصوتٍ متقطع وعيون دامعة.
تنتقل الكاميرا عبر سماء الليل الغائمة، لتُظهر في المشهد التالي شخصًا في المطار ومعه فتاة صغيرة.
الفتاة تقول بخفة:
> اليا: "أخي... إلى أين نحن ذاهبون؟"
أخوها بابتسامة غامضة: "سنذهب لنرى شخصًا... ستعرفينه أنتِ."
اليا باستغراب: "من هو؟"
أخوها: "ستعرفين عندما نصل."
تهب الرياح في صالة المطار، ويختفي صوتهما وسط أصوات الإقلاع.
تعود الكاميرا إلى المستشفى — ضوء القمر ينعكس على الزجاج، والوقت يمضي ببطء.
الأصدقاء بدأوا يفقدون الأمل بعد طول الانتظار أمام باب غرفة العمليات المغلقة.
وبعد نصف ساعة مرّت كأنها دهر، يُفتح الباب ببطء ويخرج الطبيب.
القلوب تقفز جميعها في لحظة واحدة —
> كاي: "أخبرنا، هل هو بخير؟!"
هينا: "لم يمت، أليس كذلك؟!"
يوي بصوت مرتجف: "أرجوك قل شيئًا..."
تاكي وميكا معًا: "أرجوك، قل لنا أنه بخير!"
الطبيب يتنفس بعمق قبل أن يبتسم ابتسامة خفيفة:
> الطبيب: "اطمئنوا... لقد نجا. لكن يحتاج للراحة، وسيفيق بعد قليل."
الدموع نزلت من وجوه الجميع في لحظة ارتياح.
> كاي: "الحمد لله..."
هينا: "ههه، إنه بخير إذًا..."
ميكا: "إنها معجزة فعلاً!"
تاكي: "نجاته كانت أقرب للمستحيل..."
والدا هينا قالا بابتسامة مطمئنة:
> "طالما أنه بخير... سترونه قريبًا."
تُغير الكاميرا المشهد إلى الطائرة في السماء، مع صوت المحركات القوي. تظهر لقطة للأخ واليا من نافذة الطائرة بينما الغيوم تمر أسفلهم.
يعود المشهد إلى المستشفى، الطبيب يفتح باب الغرفة:
> "يمكنكم رؤيته الآن."
يدخل الأصدقاء الغرفة. كانت ملامحهم تجمع بين الغضب والحنين — غضب لأن رين حاول إنهاء حياته، وحنين لأنهم رأوه حيًا أمامهم.
رين يفتح عينيه ببطء، صوته ضعيف ومهتز:
> "أين أنا؟ أمي؟ أبي؟ أختي؟... أين أنتم؟"
ينظر نحو أصدقائه، الدموع تتجمع في عينيه:
> "لماذا أنتم هنا؟ أنا من مات... ليس أنتم..."
ترشه الممرضة ببعض الماء ليصحو، فيفتح عينيه جيدًا، ينظر إليهم بصمت، والغرفة تغمرها لحظة ثقيلة من الهدوء البارد.
كانت حالته مزرية:
ضمادة على رأسه.
أجهزة طبية متصلة بجسده.
بقع دم صغيرة على ملاءته البيضاء.
ينظر إلى الأرض خجلاً، بينما العيون مسلطة عليه. فجأة يُسمع صوت فتاة صغيرة تبكي وتقترب.
> الممرضة من بعيد: "لا تركضي، ستقعين!"
لكن الفتاة تفتح الباب مسرعة — إيمي!
ترتمي على رين وهي تبكي:
> "أيها الأحمق! ما الذي كنت تفكر به؟! الانتحار؟ لماذا؟ لماذا؟!"
رين يتألم من جلوسها على ساقيه المصابتين، وكاي يسحبها برفق ليُبعدها عنه.
> إيمي تصرخ: "لماذا لا تتكلم أيها المنتحر الأحمق؟!"
يعم الصمت الغرفة.
بعد لحظات من التوتر، يقرر الجميع المغادرة، فقد أدركوا أن رين يحتاج لبعض الوقت ليواجه نفسه.
يعودون إلى بيوتهم بصمت، بينما تبقى والدة هينا وحدها معه في الغرفة.
الساعة تشير إلى الواحدة بعد منتصف الليل.
الهدوء يخيم على المستشفى، وصوت المطر بدأ يتساقط بخفة على النوافذ.
تغفو والدة هينا على الكرسي بجانبه.
قبل بزوغ الفجر، يستيقظ رين بهدوء، يزيل أسلاك الأجهزة الطبية من ذراعه، ويغادر الغرفة دون أن يلاحظه أحد.
لكن والدة هينا تفتّح عينيها للحظة وتراه — تبتسم وتتركه يذهب، لأنها تعلم من حديث سابق أن شخصًا ما سيقابله قريبًا.
تُظهر الكاميرا رين يسير في الشارع المبلل بالمطر، والشمس تشرق ببطء خلف الغيوم الرمادية.
في الجهة الأخرى، كان الأصدقاء في طريقهم لزيارته صباحًا.
> هينا: "انتظروا... أليس ذلك رين؟!"
كاي: "أين؟!"
هينا تشير: "هناك، أمام السوبرماركت!"
كاي: "ما الذي يفعله هذا الأحمق خارج المستشفى؟!"
يركض الجميع نحوه.
رين يجلس تحت الجسر الذي كان ينام تحته من قبل، يشرب مشروب طاقة رغم تحذير الطبيب.
تهب الريح، والسماء تغيم مجددًا.
يقترب منه رجل بخطوات هادئة، ظله يظهر على الأرض قبل وجهه — هيروتو.
> هيروتو: "أمم، رين... ما الذي تفعله هنا؟"
رين يرفع رأسه ببطء، وعيناه تمتلئان بالدموع:
"هيروتو... أنا آسف... لا أعرف ما الذي يحصل لي، سامحني. لقد خذلت الجميع."
هيروتو يبتسم بتعب: "لم تخذل أحدًا، لكن تصرفك كان أحمق. كيف تجرؤ أن تقفز من فوق الجسر؟"
رين مصدوم: "كيف عرفت؟!"
هيروتو: "اتصلت بي امرأة وقالت إن رين قفز من فوق الجسر ونقلوه إلى المستشفى."
رين: "من؟"
هيروتو: "والدة هينا، أيها الغبي."
رين يتفاجأ:
> "ماذا؟! تعرف والدة هينا؟"
هيروتو يضحك: "أعرف الجميع... والدي هينا، أصدقاؤك، وإيمي..."
يحاول رين أن يتكلم، لكن هيروتو يضع يده على كتفه:
> "هيا بنا نعود إلى المستشفى، هناك شيء أريد أن أريك إياه."
رين: "حسنًا..."
الكاميرا تكشف الأصدقاء من بعيد، يراقبون المشهد بصدمة.
يسير الجميع نحو المستشفى، وعيونهم متشابكة بالدهشة والخوف.
رين يهمس بصوت مكسور:
> "أنا آسف يا أصدقاء... لم أكن أريد أن أصل بكم إلى هذه اللحظة."
> كاي بنصف ابتسامة: "هاه؟ مالذي تقوله أيها الأحمق؟ نحن أصدقاؤك... ومن هذا الشخص؟"
هيروتو بابتسامة غامضة: "سنتحدث في الداخل، يا كاي."
يدخل الجميع إلى داخل المستشفى، الكاميرا تتبعهم حتى غرفة رقم 55.
تتوقف سيارة أمام المستشفى، تخرج منها فتاة تحمل دبدوبًا زهريًا صغيرًا — الفتاة هي اليا.
تسير بخطوات بطيئة نحو الغرفة، المطر يبلل شعرها الخفيف، وتغلق الكاميرا على المشهد وهي تمسك بالدبدوب وتنظر إلى باب الغرفة.
