Chapter 1139 - The Fluid Victory Over the Floor 58 Boss

The silence hanging over the monumental stone arena at the bottom of the amphitheater was dense, almost tangible. The vast rocky depression, framed by gigantic natural basalt columns supporting the dark vaults of the fifty-eighth floor, seemed to absorb any distant noise from the icy wind. We descended the steep slope with firm, rhythmic steps, maintaining an impeccable tactical formation until we reached the center of the spacious natural hall. At the center of that massive rock platform, before the imposing double doors forged from ancient iron and shimmering runes, rested the colossal silhouette of the sector boss: a Golem of Basalt and Crystallized Magma, whose mineral carapace displayed shades of dark granite, intersected by glowing fissures that pulsed with a threatening orange hue.

"Maintain your formation and stay alert to the range of this giant's attacks," I ordered in a low, calm voice, positioning myself at the vertex of our formation. "It possesses extraordinary physical mass and, at first glance, an almost impenetrable defense, but its center of gravity is high, and its movement patterns depend directly on the circulation of mana within the core in its chest."

Rai'kanna and Scarlet immediately took their positions beside me, adjusting their combat stances with the natural ease born from countless battles fought side by side. Upon seeing our approach, the colossal structure of stone and magma awakened from its millennia-old slumber. The immense rocky plates that made up its shoulders and arms scraped against one another with a deafening crash, resembling the collapse of a mountain, while two eyes of fiery light ignited within the cavity of its mineral helmet. The creature rose to its full height of more than eight meters, emitting a resonant roar that made the ground beneath our feet tremble and sent dust and small stones tumbling from the ceiling.

"The magical density of that central core is impressive, Takumi!" Eara warned in a clear voice, raising her staff to weave a complex network of geometric containment barriers around our rear guard. "If we allow the internal magma to flow freely, it could trigger an area-wide heat explosion. I need a few moments to attune my defensive barriers against the thermal shock!"

"We won't give it time to activate that ability," I stated determinedly, taking my first step forward and allowing my power to flow smoothly through my body. "Scarlet, Rai'kanna, we'll open a path along the sides and destabilize its base. The rest will be a clean, coordinated execution."

Without needing another word, the response came in a perfectly synchronized movement. Scarlet dashed to the left like a trail of red light, her longsword emitting a high-pitched hum as it channeled an extremely high-frequency cutting aura. The red-haired swordswoman slid beneath the colossus's first crushing blow, a stone fist the size of a carriage that embedded itself in the ground, opening deep fissures in the rock, and delivered a triple surgical slash directly to the mineral ligaments of the monster's left ankle. Sparks flew in every direction as pieces of basalt broke away from the beast's structure.

Simultaneously, Rai'kanna advanced from the right with overwhelming force. She planted her feet on the ground, bent her knees, and thrust her heavy spear forward with all the strength of her torso, delivering a direct thrust against the creature's right knee joint. The impact of the special-alloy tip against the incandescent rock produced a sharp crack and a shockwave that made the giant visibly stagger, momentarily losing its balance.

"Now, Vespera!" I called, leaping onto the boss's outstretched arm and running along its rocky length toward the beast's chest.

Atop the rocky elevation behind us, Vespera had already drawn her bowstring to its maximum limit. With impeccable precision, she fired a sequence of three arrows enchanted with the freezing element. The projectiles traced luminous parabolas through the air and struck the glowing openings in the golem's chest with pinpoint accuracy. The violent thermal contrast between the magical cold of the arrows and the blazing magma within caused an immediate structural shock: sharp cracks echoed from inside the carapace, and deep fissures began spreading across the creature's chest plate, radically weakening its primary defense.

I took advantage of the opening created by Vespera's precise shots without hesitating for a single second. Reaching the colossus's shoulder, I propelled my body into the air, spinning around my own axis and concentrating a massive amount of mana into my sword's blade. With an impeccable downward strike charged with pure energy, I pierced the newly opened fissure in the beast's chest, driving my blade straight into the incandescent mana core that sustained the giant's life.

The effect of the attack was instantaneous. The fiery light emanating from the monster's fissures and eyes flickered desperately before going out completely. The immense body of stone and magma froze in midair and then began to disintegrate in a controlled manner, turning into a harmless shower of gravel and gray dust that accumulated in the center of the arena. Where the core had been, only a perfect, gleaming magic stone remained, along with a rare artifact made of precious metal that fell gently to the ground.

Liriel, her assistant, and Lyannis quickly approached with smiles of admiration on their faces, while Eara dismissed the magical barriers with a satisfied sigh. The battle against the boss of the fifty-eighth floor, which under different circumstances could have become a bloody confrontation lasting several hours, had been resolved in just a few minutes with impeccable fluidity and tactical elegance.

"What a magnificent execution," Lyannis praised, inspecting each of us to make sure there were no scratches or signs of strain resulting from the shockwave. "Not even the dust from the stones managed to touch our clothes. Your synergy on the front line is simply impeccable."

"First-rate teamwork," Scarlet agreed, wiping her blade with a quick motion before sheathing it. "Working with this kind of clarity of movement makes any colossal monster a simple task."

I took the opportunity to observe the enormous iron door slowly opening before us, revealing the passage to the fifty-ninth floor. Reflecting on such a fluid victory brought me profound inner peace and the certainty that all the effort, training, and mutual trust we had accumulated over time were bearing extraordinary fruit. We had overcome another stage with absolute mastery, without suffering a single injury or wasting vital resources.

"Excellent work, everyone," I said with a warm smile, collecting the special magic stone and the boss drop before pointing toward the illuminated passage ahead. "Floor 58 has officially been conquered. Let's move forward with this same composure and perfection to the next level."

With our morale high and our confidence renewed by that demonstration of strength and synchronization, we walked together through the stone portal, leaving the basalt amphitheater behind and stepping firmly into the uncertainties of the fifty-ninth floor.
