Chapter 607 - Farewell

Time inside the forest felt different.

Not slower… but less pressured. As if each moment had enough space to exist without being rushed by something external. After the blessing, there was no urgency to leave.

We stayed.

And for the first time in a long while, without thinking about battle, strategy, or threat.

Just… present.

I walked through the trees with the group, without a specific direction. The path didn't need to be defined. The forest itself seemed to guide our steps naturally.

The small spirits remained nearby.

Now, without any hesitation.

Some came closer than before, circling around, gently touching our clothes or simply following us in silence.

Lyannis was the one who interacted the most.

She crouched again, carefully extending her hand. One of the small spirits approached without fear, touching her fingers as if curious.

"You notice it?" she said, looking at me. "They're not afraid."

"Because we don't give them a reason," I replied.

She smiled faintly. "Makes sense."

Rai'kanna watched with her arms crossed, but with less tension than before. One of the spirits also approached her, stopping near her weapon.

"Don't even try," she said dryly.

The spirit didn't back away.

It simply tilted slightly, as if analyzing.

Rai'kanna sighed. "…Do whatever you want."

Lyannis laughed softly.

Scarlett walked beside me, looking around with calm attention. "It's strange…"

"How?" I asked.

"Even with everything we've seen… this place is still different."

I nodded.

"Because it isn't made for combat."

Elara walked a bit ahead, observing the trees and the ground carefully. "The energy structure here is completely balanced. There are no distortions."

Vespera lightly ran her hand over a nearby leaf. "Everything functions as it should."

Liriel paused for a moment, closing her eyes. The breeze passed through her, gentle.

"It's… calm."

No one disagreed.

We kept walking.

Without rush.

Without purpose.

Just absorbing.

At some point, we reached a more open area. Light passed more easily through the trees, illuminating the ground covered with leaves and small roots.

The spirits gathered around, some floating slightly, others simply watching.

Lyannis slowly turned, looking around. "I could stay here for a while."

"You'd get bored in two days," Rai'kanna said.

"Maybe," she replied. "But they'd be good two days."

Scarlett sat on a nearby root. "It's a place… that makes you forget everything else."

"That's the danger," Vespera said.

Elara agreed. "Getting used to this… could make you lower your guard."

Liriel slowly opened her eyes. "But it can also strengthen you."

I looked at them.

They were all right.

That was exactly the balance of this place.

Neither escape.

Nor confrontation.

Just… existence.

We stayed there a while longer.

Light conversations arose, without weight. Simple comments, observations, small moments that didn't need deep meaning to matter.

And yet…

They did.

After some time, I felt it again.

The presence.

Different from the small spirits.

More stable.

Clearer.

I looked ahead.

The guardian emerged between the trees, in the same serene way as before. No rush. No interruption.

Just… present.

The group noticed as well.

Rai'kanna uncrossed her arms.

Lyannis stood up.

Scarlett remained silent.

Elara refocused.

Vespera held her posture firm.

Liriel observed with respect.

He stopped a few meters away.

No need to come closer.

"You remained," he said.

"Yes," I replied.

"Without disturbance."

"It wouldn't make sense."

He nodded.

The small spirits moved around him, but kept their distance.

"You understood enough."

Rai'kanna tilted her head slightly. "Enough to leave?"

He looked at her.

"Yes."

Lyannis crossed her arms. "So it's over?"

"For this moment," he replied.

Elara observed carefully. "That means we can return."

"If balance allows."

Vespera nodded slightly.

Scarlett stood beside me in silence.

Liriel stepped forward. "We are grateful."

The guardian turned his gaze to her.

And then to all of us.

"You received something rare."

There was no need to repeat what.

Everyone knew.

"Use it with awareness."

"Let's go," I replied.

Silence came once more.

But this time…

It was different.

There was no test.

No evaluation.

It was… closure.

Lyannis looked around one last time. "I'll miss this."

Rai'kanna let out a soft laugh. "You'll forget it when the next problem shows up."

"Maybe," she replied.

Elara observed the forest carefully. "But what we learned here… won't be lost."

Vespera added. "If it's used properly."

Scarlett looked at me. "Ready?"

I nodded.

Liriel closed her eyes for a brief moment, as if silently saying goodbye.

I looked back at the guardian.

"Thank you."

He didn't respond immediately.

But then he said:

"Keep moving forward."

No more words.

No more need.

I took the first step.

The group followed me.

The small spirits did not follow.

They simply watched.

As we moved away, the feeling of the forest gradually faded. Not disappearing… but being left behind.

Like something that didn't need to be carried.

But remembered.

When we crossed the natural boundary of the trees, the air changed.

More ordinary.

More familiar.

Rai'kanna stretched her shoulders. "We're back."

Lyannis looked back one last time. "But not the same as before."

Elara nodded. "Not at all."

Vespera remained silent.

Scarlett stayed beside me.

Liriel slowly opened her eyes.

I paused for a moment.

And realized.

Nothing around us had changed.

But we had.

I took a deep breath.

And moved forward.

Because that place was not a destination.

It was just… part of the path.
