Chapter 140 - Trust

Ickshonpe, standing by, watched in astonishment.

Even though he still wore a scribbled face, the expression on his face could no longer be suppressed.

He was filled with unspeakable shock.

This shock wasn't simply due to Luke's newly upgraded power booster.

Most importantly, it was the process by which Luke had taken out the Woodcutter's Spring, and its effects!

[This Woodcutter's Spring was identical to the river in Luke's story…]

The strange power of the river in the story, and the effects of the invention Luke had just produced…

The functions of the two were so similar, practically identical!

Ickshonpe's mind naturally connected.

[Luke spread the story he wrote to the professional hunters, and this invention came about…]

[So, is Luke's ability to invent something related to the story he wrote?!]

[By having others read and understand this story, and then discussing it, he can invent the desired item…]

When thinking of the word invention, Ickshonpe's mind naturally recalled its definition: An invention is the process and result of applying natural laws to solve specific problems in a technical field through innovative ideas or methods.

To meet the needs of daily life, inventions provide unprecedented artificial models, new manufacturing techniques, and new tools or consumer goods, along with innovation in production processes and control methods.

He didn't need to think about the rest.

What he captured was a single, crucial idea…

"To satisfy human needs?"

Needs…

That word echoed in Ickshonpe's mind.

[So, all of these inventions in Luke's hands, and all of the props he has produced, are based on the needs of others.]

And needs could mean many things…

Requests, pleas, desires, and longings, all of which could fall under the category of needs.

Strictly speaking, they could all be summed up in one word: desire.

To fulfill the desires of others, the invention was born.

[But these inventions shouldn't just come from any kind of desire, right?]

Ickshonpe's sharp mind began analyzing further: [Things like wanting to destroy the world or wanting to conquer the world shouldn't be easy to invent, right?]

[It must be connected to Luke's own aura capacity…]

[And, thinking one step further, it might also depend on how strong the desire is, how many people share that desire, and perhaps even more complex conditions beyond that…]

[The higher the position, the greater the power, the stronger the influence, the more their desires have an extraordinary impact on the world.]

[Their desires, compared to those of ordinary people, might bring about entirely different kinds of inventions.]

[In other words, the desire itself, the intensity of the person who wishes to realize it, the number of people involved, and even the identity of the holder... All of these could influence Luke's ability.]

[It's even possible that these are the very conditions for Luke's ability to reach the full potential.]

[That's why...]

Ickshonpe silently watched Luke, who was immersed in the enormous surge of power.

[Luke created this chatroom mainly to serve his own ability?!]

After all, it was Ickshonpe who had staked everything on the network world, completely immersing himself in it.

Although a bit paranoid and insane, the fact that he was able to do so was indisputable proof of his courage and ability.

And a sharp eye that clearly grasped the pulse of the times.

With his keen eyesight, he had observed everything Luke had done.

He could naturally discern Luke's true intentions and the essence of his abilities!!

[No wonder that bastard Ging had locked Luke up here…]

Ickshonpe himself didn't know how many times he had sighed with emotion.

But every time he saw Luke's performance, he couldn't help but think of this.

In fact, when Luke had used the same background color to fade out the inverted triangle drop-down symbol, Ickshonpe had already sensed that Luke was similar to that bastard, Ging Freecss.

What he accomplished was always so unexpected, and the results were so good, making the work go so smoothly, and… making everyone involved… So irritated and angry.

Of course, Ging's way was indiscriminate, friend or foe alike, all equally harmed under his fairness.

Luke, however, was different from Ging in that. His actions only made those targeted experience such frustration.

As someone collaborating with Luke on this grand project, Ickshonpe actually felt surprisingly good about it!

[After all, watching others get angry and upset is much better than getting angry yourself!!]

The suffering and misery of others is the true source of one's own happiness.

While this statement may be unethical, it is also true.

Even Ickshonpe, a person in the network world, was not immune to this.

Working with Luke on this project was surprisingly good.

So… Ickshonpe simply glanced at Luke, who was enhancing his power.

He then quietly erected several firewalls around him to prevent the overflow of Luke's growing aura from spreading everywhere and didn't bother any further.

How exactly Luke's ability came to be, and how his inventions were created, that was entirely Luke's own business.

Even if Ickshonpe saw through some of his true nature, so what?! He was just a local resident skilled in online operations, and Luke's inventions had nothing to do with him.

Ickshonpe had a clear understanding of their current relationship. It was a mutually beneficial partnership.

Luke provided him with various methods and approaches to internet development.

Ickshonpe, in turn, ensured that Luke could achieve his own interests in the network world, without hindering his own pursuits, amidst the rapid development of the internet.

In Ickshonpe's view, the benefits Luke sought were the fulfillment of the conditions for his ability!

Ickshonpe didn't dislike this, nor did he have any objections; he even found it quite favorable.

After all, Luke's interests didn't conflict with his own pursuits.

In fact, for his own benefit, Luke could even help him develop the network world more rapidly.

This would actually have a further positive effect.

In Ickshonpe's opinion, after learning the conditions required for Luke's ability, he could actually feel more at ease.

After all, working with a collaborator whose specific goals and ideas were unclear always required a certain level of vigilance and doubt.

It was far more reassuring to cooperate with someone whose intentions were known and not in conflict with one's own.

As a result, Ickshonpe's constant vigilance and caution towards Luke also subsided considerably.

He could even breathe a little easier and focus on his own work again.
