Just as he finished reading it, his face darkened. Something strange appeared in the construct's text—something that had never been there before.
The [Usage] and [Funfact] sections… they were new.
He clearly remembered checking the relic that morning, and there had been no such thing.
So why were they there now?
It didn't make any sense—nothing did.
He couldn't form any conclusion, no matter how much he thought about it. There was only one thing he could do now—use the sixth sense.
He closed his eyes, pressed his hands together, and spoke clearly,
"The past, the present, and the future. The Good, the Evil, and the Balance. The Safer, the Misfortune, and the Chance."
At once, he felt a rush of energy spreading from his chest throughout his body—flowing through what felt like invisible veins, Mark Veins, channels through which the energy moved.
The darkness before his closed eyes was pushed away by light.
He could now see—not with his eyes, but through something deeper.
He could sense everything around him: the furniture in the other room, Selpe asleep in her bed, a bird flying above the Singing Street where scattered defense security forces were blocking the roads, stopping cars and bikes from moving.
He could even sense a rat being chased by a cat in a nearby alley.
The rat slipped into a small wooden hut through a hole—and the cat followed.
But another black cat was waiting inside. It caught the rat, not to eat it, but to protect it. The black cat growled, scaring the first one away, then gently released the rat, letting it run free.
But suddenly, that black cat turned, sensing something.
And at that moment, Ibaan's focus broke.
His eyes opened—only to find that he was no longer in his house.
He was somewhere else—far, far away.
A vast stretch of the cosmos filled with countless stars, glowing clouds of gas, and faint traces of nebulae. Shades of blue, purple, and pink blended together like waves of light, giving the scene a dreamlike and endless feeling. It felt both quiet and alive at the same time.
It was something similar to the cosmos but wasn't really the cosmos because if he would be looking at the real cosmos, he'd already be dead—or to be more specific, no longer exist, erased from everyone's memories, something more terrifying than the Attainers' erasure.
But just then he felt like this was where he could check whether it would be safer to take over the private detective's identity and what's the reason behind the change in the construct.
He spoke, his voice echoing, "Is it safer to take over private detective Clami's identity?"
Just as he spoke, far away straight in front of him, a star trembled from the mixed hue light and moved rightward. And another star trembled and moved leftward at the same time—both fading far away into the unseen.
And his intuition told him that it was both: it's the safest as well as extremely dangerous.
He understood it.
Next, he began his next detection, "What's the reason behind the construct's change?"
And as he did, something happened. The stars slightly trembled and he felt dizziness and numbness, and then he found himself back in the guest room.
'What happened?' he wondered.
He couldn't really tell what had happened. Just as he spoke, something occurred—and now he was here. What could've happened? He had no idea, except for one possible reason.
'Is it because I can't use the Sixth Sense for too long? Yes, it could be. Sigh.'
He sighed and leaned back on the sofa, lost in thought.
'I guess I can't know the reason behind the relic's abnormality yet. But it's better if I focus on becoming a detective first. Still, I have to be cautious since it said it could be extremely dangerous as well.
Uh! I'll check the bookmarks after this.'
He then stood up and walked toward the bedroom to wake Selpe and discuss their mission to wipe out the gangs.
Just as he opened the door, he stopped.
Selpe was not there!
Before he could react, speak, or even comprehend the situation, he quietly closed the door. His mind went blank—completely numb.
He couldn't think for now.
He forgot what he was about to do, but then, as if something replaced his thoughts, he smiled faintly.
'Oh yes, I was about to head to the mall to buy some clothes.'
He then grabbed the Money Bank card, the one he and Selpe used to withdraw money or directly transfer it to shopkeepers by swiping it on the machine. There was also an online system for money transfer, but it was set up only on Selpe's phone.
Staring down, he left their house and headed toward the market.
At the same time, somewhere deep within him—deep down in the soil of his being—a voice called out. A faint whisper warning that something wasn't right. But somehow, he didn't notice it.
He didn't feel anything. It was as if he was being controlled—no emotions, no thoughts, no feelings at all.
Just as he reached the main market of Singing Street, however, a faint awareness returned. He began to feel that something was wrong, yet he couldn't figure out what it was.
He was now in senses and still, keeping in mind the rules of the Church of the Exalted, he stayed cautious, studying his surroundings as he walked toward a large shopping mall.
