Who would do that?'Alessandro's jaw tightened. 'Someone betrayed me,' he said, his voice grim. 'Someone I trusted. But I'll find out who it was, and they'll pay.'He held her close, his mind racing. He couldn't shake the feeling that they were still in danger, that his father was closing in. He had to get Clara out of here, to take her somewhere even safer.'We can't stay here,' he said, his voice urgent. 'It's not safe. I'm taking you somewhere else, somewhere my father will never find you.''Where?' Clara asked, her eyes filled with fear.'Somewhere far away,' Alessandro said, his voice low. 'Somewhere we can be together, without having to worry about anyone else.'He knew he was making a rash decision, that he was abandoning his responsibilities, his family. But he didn't care. He had to protect Clara, even if it meant sacrificing everything else."
