Yu Xi stood silently, refusing to move, and Jian Rui understood why. Yu Xi's loyalty had never been with him—it was always with Jian Ci.
"Alright," Jian Rui said, his tone low and menacing. He swiped his communicator and dialed Jian Ci's number.
From beneath the bed, the shrill sound of Jian Ci's communicator betrayed him. The glow of the screen illuminated his face, and he muttered under his breath, "Fuck."
Jian Rui sneered, his voice sharp. "Are you coming out on your own, or do you want me to drag you out?"
Jian Ci knew the game was over. With a nervous laugh, he crawled out from under the bed. "Rui-ge, what a coincidence," he said, trying to mask his guilt with humor.
Jian Rui's glare was unrelenting. "Are you coming out or not?"
Jian Ci stepped forward, but Yu Xi immediately moved, placing himself between them. His eyes locked onto Jian Rui, a fierce warning blazing in his gaze.
