Chapter 583 - Chapter 584: Dare Not Go Back

Western Niu Continent.

Daoist Yuyang was surrounded by a constant stream of jade slips, but he still looked up slightly as Chen Baiqing arrived via emergency long-distance transmission.

Long-distance transmission was extremely costly. Normally, one would gather a batch of cargo or people before transmitting, and only in truly urgent situations. After all, having money did not mean one was a fool to be swindled—and the spirit stones and materials consumed by long-distance transmission made even the Eighteen Immortal Sects grit their teeth.

Usually, short-distance transmission arrays were used, relayed multiple times. The longer the distance, the cost grew exponentially.

An individual transmission like this was exceedingly rare. It meant something major had happened.

Chu Xingchen had already run off to the Central Continent. Was he still not letting the person in the Western Niu Continent off the hook?

Chen Baiqing stepped into the hall, cupped her hands in greeting, and spoke: "Uncle-Master Yuyang, is everything still going smoothly?"

"Everything is smooth enough, aside from endless matters causing headaches everywhere." Daoist Yuyang placed a jade slip on the table and chuckled. "You've come here to handle business through me first?"

Chen Baiqing naturally knew Daoist Yuyang was teasing. She did not respond to that remark, but instead spoke with an extremely serious expression: "There is a matter of great urgency. Uncle-Master Yuyang, I need you to oversee it immediately."

Daoist Yuyang sighed lightly: "Chu Xingchen really knows how to handle people. Sending you here—if anyone else had said those words, I would have had them thrown out."

Chen Baiqing once again did not respond to this, but went straight to the point: "I must ask Uncle-Master Yuyang to immediately mobilize all Tribulation Transcendence cultivators currently in the Western Niu Continent. Head directly to Yuzhou City in the Southern Continent. Make no attempt to conceal your movements. Travel at maximum speed. The matter is urgent—please handle it as quickly as possible."

Daoist Yuyang's gaze fixed directly on Chen Baiqing upon hearing this. He did not respond.

The hall fell silent instantly.

Aside from Daoist Yuyang, other Taidao Sect cultivators were working in the hall as well. But they too had gone completely quiet.

Anyone who could work here was no fool. They naturally understood how outrageous this order was.

Chen Baiqing, seeing that Daoist Yuyang had not answered, cupped her hands once more: "The matter is urgent! I ask Uncle-Master Yuyang to proceed immediately!"

Daoist Yuyang's gaze remained fixed on Chen Baiqing. He dropped the slightly teasing tone from before and spoke with utmost seriousness: "Is this all? What about the other arrangements? What about Wukong and the Thus-Come Buddha of the Great Vehicle?"

"Master did not give instructions about that."

"Then this was ordered by your Master? I have his emergency command here—it doesn't feel like his style." Daoist Yuyang's eyes narrowed with suspicion. "It's not that I don't trust you. But for a matter of this magnitude, one must be cautious. This arrangement is too hasty. Let me inquire first."

Chen Baiqing immediately interjected: "Uncle-Master Yuyang, please wait. If an emergency command could be used, I would not have spent so much to come here in person. Master's current situation makes it impossible to use or receive emergency commands at this time."

Daoist Yuyang paused. "Then did Chu Xingchen give you any token of authority?"

"Master said I am the token." Chen Baiqing answered with remarkable speed. "My life was saved by Master. Everything I have become is thanks to Master's nurturing. Master trusts me—and perhaps he made these arrangements beforehand, which is why I was sent to follow you in the first place. Whether Uncle-Master Yuyang trusts Master now is entirely up to you."

"Additionally, once I confirm Uncle-Master Yuyang has made the arrangements, I will break through my cultivation realm right here."

"I ask Uncle-Master Yuyang to make arrangements as quickly as possible. Time is critical!"

Daoist Yuyang lowered his gaze. He understood perfectly—Chen Baiqing had placed herself here as collateral.

But still…

What a bold gamble.

Daoist Yuyang raised his head, his stare fixed on Chen Baiqing. After a long moment, he spoke slowly: "I only hope your Master treats you with genuine sincerity, and that it doesn't end up being something else. Otherwise, my heart would truly ache on his behalf."

Upon hearing this, Chen Baiqing quickly bowed her head. Those words made her heart ache terribly.

She feared that if she showed the wrong expression, everything would fall apart.

If Daoist Yuyang noticed something wrong, then all would be lost.

But still… it really… hurt so much.

She even felt somewhat dazed—Chen Baiqing had never been a good child.

She was also afraid: if everything returned to normal, how would she ever face her Master?

She could not bear the look of extreme disappointment in her Master's eyes.

But her second senior brother, who was behaving abnormally, seemed to truly know something.

Moreover, when Chen Baiqing had confronted her second senior brother, she had used her innate divine ability to probe his emotions.

That innate ability had been under her control ever since Foundation Establishment. She rarely used it in normal circumstances.

But her second senior brother had been simply too strange.

His inner emotions had been extraordinarily complex, yet all of them were negative.

Anxiety, grief, and… a trace of despair.

It was precisely that despair that had driven Chen Baiqing to make her choice.

Perhaps it also had something to do with what Master had said—if one's own sect was so small that even its people could not be trusted, then in this vast world one would truly be alone, and that would be rather lonely.

In any case, regardless of the reason…

Chen Baiqing knew what she was doing. But the sorrow in her heart would not ease even slightly because of that.

She bowed her head and cupped her hands: "I ask Uncle-Master Yuyang to make arrangements immediately."

Daoist Yuyang rose to his feet, his tone resolute: "Issue the order! All elders and Supreme Elders currently in the Western Niu Continent who have reached Tribulation Transcendence—depart immediately at maximum speed for Yuzhou City in the Southern Continent. Make no attempt to conceal your movements. Speed is all that matters!"

An elder at Daoist Yuyang's side seemed to transmit a message.

"The matter is urgent. I will take full responsibility for everything. Waiting for word to reach the Taidao Sect and then making a decision would be far too late." Daoist Yuyang turned his gaze toward the elder. He did not reply via transmission, but spoke with firm resolve: "Master has already authorized me with full authority over this matter. Since I am making these arrangements, I will naturally bear all responsibility for what follows."

The elder pondered briefly, then spoke: "The Western Niu Continent is hardly a safe place either. Perhaps Daoist Yuyang should withdraw to the Central Continent first. Leaving someone behind here to make simple arrangements would suffice."

"If I leave, the Buddhist sect will see right through us." Daoist Yuyang shook his head gently. "They most likely still wouldn't dare do anything to me."

The elder heard this answer and did not continue pressing the point.

Some words needed to come from those in authority above, not from him.

Daoist Yuyang's gaze turned to Chen Baiqing once more: "The spiritual energy in the Western Niu Continent is scarce—it's not a good place for a breakthrough. If you want to break through, you should return to the Tianyan Sect."

Chen Baiqing said nothing. She only gave a slight bow and stood where she was, unmoving.

Daoist Yuyang exhaled softly: "Fine. As you wish. Stay if you want."

"Thank you, Uncle-Master Yuyang."

Chen Baiqing answered in a quiet voice.

In truth, she also… did not dare to go back.
