Boom!
The Gecko was shot out of the ring by the Boulder, who, upon winning her second-to-last match, grinned, his laughter echoing through the air. The audience, by now, was not as excited.
After winning almost every singles match in the tournament, it was the same guy over and over again. The crowd was getting bored with seeing the same person.
"And now, for the last and final opponent in Boulder's way of becoming the champion of the Earth Rumble VI!" The announcer shouted with all his might, and the crowd waited with tension.
"The previous champion! The Blind Bandit!"
Norrak sat up, popping his chin on Katara's shoulder as he waited for Toph to enter the arena. A few seconds later, Toph appeared in everyone's eyes.
She had a smirk on her face as the crowd cheered for her. She walked up the staircase until she faced the Boulder, who had a conflicted look on his face.
"Hmm... The Boulders rise conflicted about fighting a young blind girl," The Boulder said while looking at Toph with an internal war debating if he should fight her or not.
"Sounds to me like you're just scared of a young blind girl! What, did you leave your ball at home?" Toph said with a smirk, the crowd ooing at her roast.
"What! The Boulde rises over his conflicting feelings! The Boulder is going to put you in a rock-alanche!" The Boulder screamed as he flexed his muscles.
"Wait, she is not really blind, right?" Katara asked with a worried expression, looking down at Norrak and showing concern for the girl. Norrak shrugs, indicating it's true.
"How sis he going to fight then? If she is blind, she can't really fight back, can she?" Ty Lee said with a wondering look, her finger on her lip in a curious way.
"No, she might have a trick up her sleeve. Katara, this is the person I was talking about back in Omashu. She was the previous champion of the tournament," Norrak said, and Katara nodded in enlightenment.
"Ahhhh!" The Boulder started to run with a fierce shout ripping out from his throat. He stepped onto the ground, and an invisible, barely felt vibration erupted from the ground.
The vibration spread out from the Boulder's heel like a circular shockwave on the ground. Toph sensed it instantly with her feet, and she smirked as she kicked the ground with sharp force.
Crack!
A small stump appeared on the ground, and it started moving in the direction where the Boulder's feet would step. When the Boulder finally stepped on the ground, the stump curved, causing him to spin into a full split.
"Huh?" How did she do that? And how could she know where he was going to step?" Katara asked with confusion as she turned to Norrak, looking for an answer.
"She was sensing the vibrations in the ground. By doing so, she knows what her opponent is going to do before they even fully do it," Norrak explained, and the faces of Katara and Ty Lee changed.
"Does that mean if I were to fight her, I wouldn't even be able to get close without a boulder being sent hurling at me?" Ty Lee asked curiously, the image in her head terrifying her.
"Yeah, if I am being honest. This girl might even give Katara a run for her money, even right now," Norrak said with confirmation, and Katara huffed as she looked at Toph on the ground.
"I'd win against her, and I know it. Though I guess I do need her as a teacher," Katara said with confidence in her abilities. Besides, she was close to mastering the ultimate state of waterbending.
Norrak chuckled in amusement as a fire of challenge lit up in Katara's eyes. Katara can condense water from the air and can use icebending proficiently.
She and Toph might be neck and neck in power currently. Except that would change if Katara used her flight and now her somewhat skilled airbending in the fight.
With flight, Katara would be able to bully the poor Toph due to her blindness. Of course, if she stayed on the ground, it would be way more complicated to beat Toph.
"The Blind Bandit has defeated the Boulder! Becoming the second-time champion of the Earth Rumble VI tournament!" The announcer jumped down from his stand, which was 10 meters high.
And he took Toph's hand, which he lifted into the air, handing her her champion belt at the same time. But he then grinned, before taking out a bag of coins.
"Would anyone else like to give it a try?! If you defeat the Blind Bandit, you get this bag of coins!" The announcer shouted, and Katara immediately stood up from Norrak's lap.
Swoosh!
She jumped into the stand, and the crowd erupted into massive shouts. The ground began to shake as the stands filled to the brim with people, who erupted in shouts.
"Oh, it seems another one wants to be sent flying by me! And it's a weak woman too, ha! Better give up while you can," Toph said with a grin as she crossed her arms. The announcer jumped 10 meters into the air back onto his platform, leaving the two to face each other.
Katara smirked, and she jumped into the air, wings of water forming on her back. Toph frowned, sensing that Katara was no longer on the ground. She looked around, her brows scrunching in confusion.
"Where is she?! I can't sense her," Toph muttered as a grinning Katara floated behind the oblivious Toph. Katara crossed her arms nonchalantly, and the crowd looked on in silent shock.
"The Avatar is here!"
"She is the Avatar?"
"No way! That means the Blood Moon Norrak is near as well!"
"She is bad!"
"Dude, you wanna die?"
"Worth it!"
Toph scrunched her eyebrows as she heard the crowd's words. She stomped on the ground hard, and four boulders sprang up in four directions around her.
Boom!
"Whoa!" Katara dodged with a swerve, watching as the boulders shot past her like lightning. She turned her head to look back at Toph, only to see four more boulders.
She jumped down onto the ground, and the boulders shot out like bullets, slamming into the arena walls with such force that it shook the arena, leaving behind four massive holes with cracks spreading out.
Crack!
A massive ice wall appeared out of thin air, blocking two boulders that struck the ice wall like a meteor. It turned it into splinters that created freezing mist in the air.
Katara flipped over the ice wall and jumped onto the ground. Toph instantly turned to her, kicking the ground while also waving a sharp slap into the air.
Boom!
Four spikes shot out from the ground like bullets. They struck at Katara, who twirled into the air, slapping an ice fan in the air towards the spikes. A sharp wind blade was sent out, destroying the earth spikes and pushing Toph off her feet into the air.
"Stop doing that!" Toph shouted in frustration as she lost sight of the world around her. Her heart was beating fast, with panic on her face as she fully became blind.
_______________________________________
Katara is about to humble Toph. Remember, Katara basically mastered waterbending by now. She also became skilled at airbending and can create weapons like an ice fan, so the lethality of her airbending increases.
I think it makes sense that she is stronger than the current Toph.
